I responded to her and said "You must be mistaken..." To which she'll probably say, no, really, but back me up here, MAC isn't available at drugstores? WTF?

I hate people like that. "No, they have it at my Walgreens. I have seen it. I know it's there, do you think I'd lie?" No, I just think you're an idiot.

No way has Mac ever been sold in drugstores. However, I've seen people confuse Max factor and MAC, like someone said. I'm sure that person knows that they're are wrong, but are too stubborn to go, 'ok your right, they dont sell it at walgreens, i made a mistake.' thats just my thought on it. No way would MAC ever been seen on the same shelf as CoverGirl! Lol, thats just dumb.

This is the second time I've heard someone claim that MAC was either available or going to be available at Walgreens.

the redken and biolage actually are the real thing at target, shopko and mejiers.

this is taken off the net

Hair care manufacturers or distributors sell to unauthorized persons.
They could also choose to look the other way when selling more product than would legitimately be used by a hairstyling salon. THey are not allowed to advertise such products in their ad.
I spoke with a representative at Target, which actually has an area called,”The Salon Store.” Of course he wasn’t able to tell me who distributes the large amount of salon products to their stores, but he assured me Target is a reputable company and would not dupe it’s customers. He agrees that the “trademark” on the bottles will tell you of the legitimacy of the product. But that does not wash with the labels on the product. I found, Paul Mitchell, Matrix,TIGI, Redken, Rusk, and more on the shelves at Target

not trying to be bitchy about it,

just wanted to let you know your not getting ripped off, and the stuff is legit. illegal, but legit.

don't get me wrong, i worship mac, but i don't think it is a big deal if drugstores start to sell it, because i am in canada, and all our major drugstores (shoppers drug mart and pharma plus) now carry high end make up (lancome, christian dior, guerlain, elizabeth arden etc etc) and our department stores (the bay) carry revlon and l'oreal! so the lines are totally blurring. and if you look at it pricewise, with the increasing prices of revlon and l'oreal, well, there's only a few dollars difference between a mac/clinique lipgloss and a revlon one.

in fact, i kinda wish my drugstores sold MAC because i have $150 in giftcards from my dtugstore credit card! haha.

don't mean to offend anyone, btw.

I get what your saying. I just can't believe they have those brands at drugstores! (Then again, maybe your drugstores are better than the crappy ones here in Southern CA) For me, i kinda like being able to go to a counter and have someone help me pick out my makeup. It would just not be the same experience going to a Walgreens or somewhere. But it would be closer for me to drive.. lol!

And as for high-end shampoos being sold at target or wherever.. I have bought my Biolage at both salons and at Target and they are definately the same product, so why do the companies always put in their ads "Sold only in salons, trust no imitations" or something to that effect? Maybe they just want to make their brand seem more prestigious. ??

It's the same where I live (=Europe). Shopping for a LE and HE make/up it's really almost the same for me, they happily co-exist in most stores, they all have testers and I can look at and try the testers on my own. But there are also drugstores that only sell cheaper stuff and seeing something there that's supposed to be HE would be odd.

That's why it confused me when some people had "not interested in drugstore lines" or whatever when I first started swapping. Then I realized that most (or all) US drugstores don't carry that stuff. There are some Shoppers/Pharmaprix that have smashbox! The one I go to has Lancome, Biotherm, Clarins, Pupa, Dior, etc.
