Yep, it's like when MAC repromoted Stereo Rose or I forget which lipstick and people were disappointed that the were not *exactly* like the original. Raw ingredients change slightly, people making up large vats of the stuff add just a hair more or less of something, etc. I think with some of the TF summer cream shadows the attempt was there to match the previous ones, and I think the same is true of a lot of this current release of lipsticks. Maybe not all -- I have not heard anyone mention a dupe for Virgin Rose yet, for example? -- but a lot of them. @beauteblogueur seemed to have the attempted matches nailed down, so whoever was wishing for a list of which might be similar (sorry I don't remember who asked for this) you might want to do a search on beauteblogueur's posts in this thread.

Thank you for putting it in better words then I. I love this site it brings to many whose passion and/or hobby is makeup. I will be the first to admit my wants is much larger then my bank account. It truly is helpful to know the name game switch for pretty much the same product, just different size. For those who NEED the Boy color to become Men, it helps them. For those like me, that only have a set amount we can spend it allows us to get something else. It's not like we are going to not to spend. It just helps us not to repeats or close enough repeats. So again, we are help to each other with our quests. Whatever they may be!!!!!

Peer pressure, the need to fit in, yes, a good spin. Must try to remember that as I eat my pasta with ketchup packets I got from McDonald's....I ordered 2 from TF. Not sure if this was money well spent. The post of the two lipsticks in pink, is super. I have always veered away from the blow your socks off pink. Which makes no sense since I don't bat an eyelash for a good vamp.So I just noticed the Eye & Cheek Duos are available on Nordstrom.com
I know these aren't that popular b/c of the seemingly lackluster pigmentation, but I may or may not have been cyber bullied by TF Gremlins to place an order for a few of them.

I hope it pulls more mauvey on you! I'm not sure if you got Love Bruise as well, but that definitely causes So Vain to pull completely plummy, at least on me. I tried them on together tonight and it was a pretty much a plum.

Thanks so much dear! I agree, the TF products are exceedingly better than EL.Hi, remember last L&B? The shades were very very close, but a bit different? Well to some they were and to some they were the same. Tom Ford will often change something very slight and re promote it. Example Beau was Blush Nude. The summer duo shadows, the creams were close, but a bit off. I think some of the lips are almost dupes!
My advice is look for the shade you like , then decide if you want it in a larger size or a smaller one or like the junkies we are, in both!
As for Estee Lauder owning, yes the same factories and production are producing Mac, EL, clinique , TF. The formulas are different though.
Example, I used to work for PX! I loved magic powder, they changed it a bit when PX was taken out of stores and added it to the MAC line up.
A company will use the same ingredients, but not the same formula. I feel TF formula is superior to other Lauder brands.

Thanks for that, you got bombarded with these questions!Sorry for the delay, finally catching up. I don't have Alexander, but I can see where it looks similar to Lilac Nymph. Lilac Nymph is a cool toned purpley-pink. My opinion is that Lilac Nypmh pulls more purple whereas Alexander is a lot more Pink (just based on memory & looking up swatches to refresh my memory). I have to add I'm finding LN's formula to not be as creamy or opague on the lips as I'm used to from TF. The formula feels more like his Summer lip shades that are more sheer & less creamy, imo. Despite my best intentions, for both you and myself (lol), I never made it back to the boutique.
