Transfer Advice needed!!!

Ok, this is the situation. I'm currently working for MAC in Portland, OR, and I've only been with the company for 2 months. I have been to basic, and I'm phd certified already, which is nice. There has been a family emergency in southern CA where I'm from, and I don't want to give up my job because it's my CAREER. It took me 5 months and 6 interviews to get in (we can all relate). Anyway, I'm in communication with the manager at one of the counters down there, and they have 4 openings and want to interview. But I'm afraid my regional manager will be angry I'm leaving already. I don't know how to go about this. Please give advice!!!

Thanks,
Amy

Be totally honest and upfront about what's going on (you don't have to tell your MRO everything, but give her a simple explanation of what's going on)....best of luck to you!

Thanks. I'm also not sure how to handle the phone interview since I won't be able to show off my skills or face charts.

Technically you're not supposed to transfer until 6 months, but with permission from your MRO the rules can be bent. Start by telling your manager what is going on he/she may be able to offer you supposrt as well as be a facilitator between you & your MRO. I have seen exceptions made for emergency situations so just keep communication open & if all involved are understanding and able to do it, you should be able to transfer.
Good luck.

Well sweetie I'm sure you already have an advantage because you're already in the company. You've already proven your skills. Like giz2000 said, just be honest. Life is life and they understand. It doesn't sound like this was a planned or expected event so just make sure they know that. You should be ok. Let us know how your transfer goes!

I agree with what everyone has said above. Make it clear that this is just not a move cause you're bored or flighty. Make it clear that this is an emergency and that you wouldn't be moving other wise. Tell them how much you love your job and want to stay with MAC and that if anything can be done for you to stay with the company you would love the help.
