Victoria girls -- D'Bohemia update

I'm 17. ^^;

I went to the Bay today ... anyone dealt with Lindsay? She was incredibly rude to me. Yanno, I really hate this counter. At least half of the collections are late and I've found with the exception of two or three of the MA's, they don't know anything about the products at all. Today I wound up finding an eyeshadow for a girl after the same MA who "helped" me had given her some short, irate responses and promptly stopped paying attention to her. Blah.

I'm on their call list for when D'Bohemia is *all* in ... ugh, it's so lame they're holding it like that. But you know, I'm thinking I'll just order the things I really want online. I'm signed up for their event on the 20th, so anything else I'll just pick up then. Also, when did they bump the consultation fee from $40 to $50? When I went in for Madame B. it was only $40.

I've never been to one of the MAC events at our counter before. I've had some of the MA's apply shadows to me before, just when I was shopping for colors, but I was never overly impressed with the outcome so I never bothered to participate in their events.

I usually deal with Jamie and she is SUPER! Very nice, and knows about the new collections etc.

Good for you Shawna! Men need to be reminded from time to time who's in charge

I'm 27 (ugh).

The Victoria counter is pretty darn bad at getting stuff in on time. One of the MA's was saying that it was bevause we're on an island - but it strikes me that Nanaimo always has their stuff on time so - what's going on?

One of the perks of my last job was that the extensive travel I did brought me close to several different MAC stores so I could check everywhere.

Nanaimo is always great though. Seems the Nanaimo girls aren't that hot for MAC and you can always get lots of LE stuff months after it's sold out here.

Whenever I'm really desperate, I get a friend in Vancouver to pick stuff up from Robson.

I'm loathe to say anything bad about specific MA's here so I'll say that Mel is my fave, and Jamie and Andrea and Tamar are also great. They will hold items and postcards for my friend and I when asked and have always been great with returns, samples, etc.

Oh and Sabrina did my makeup for the Girls night out event and did a great job and was in a surprizingly good mood considering how crazy it was and how pissed people were about D'Bohemia not being in.

Not that I know them all personally because I spend way too much time/money at the MAC counter!!!

I can confirm though that both my best friend and I have had some VERY bad experiences with MA's there (who I'm guessing are new and don't understand customer service = more money!)

Okay done hogging the board now!

Melanie is my absolute favorite at that counter. And Jamie (is there 2 Jamies at that counter? both are nice) has always been really nice too. Mel is the best though. She comes running when she sees me and is always super helpful. She helps put together looks and has great suggestions for colour combos. As for the stuff being in today, my hubby is looking into it to see if anymore came in. I worked really late last night so I just crawled out of bed anyhow. If I go today, it won't be until late this afternoon. I guess I am the old woman of Victoria, I just turned 33 a week and a half ago. Arrrgh, feeling my age...........but refusing to act it. Heh heh. Will keep everyone posted. If anyone hears anything else, let us know please!

Ok, I just phoned the store and they told me none of the new stuff had arrived yet, but I know they are lying..........maybe someone else could try phoning. I know that the pigments and lustreglasses are there so why are they lying about it?? GRRRRRRR, I am this close to calling Nanaimo and having them ship stuff to me.

Jamie and Tamar are my absolute favourite MA's, I talked to Andrea on the phone once and she seemed really nice. Melanie is doing my makeup on the 20th, so I'm glad to hear you all like her.

I'm fed up with the Victoria counter, though. Yesterday I gave up and ordered the stuff I really wanted online (Shade F/L, Bagatelle, Prose and Fancy & D'Bohemia E/S, Brush Cleanser & Deckchair Pigment) and I'll just pick the rest up at my consultation. That is, assuming they have it in by the 20th. *rolls eyes* Cranky? Moi? Never ...

I'm pretty sure they did. The Pro store had the D'Bohemia stuff in a week ago.

GRR, so now its a question of whether or not they still have the stuff I want in stock...

Well, I asked one of the MA's about it when I was there, since it was still like a week away from the scheduled release date, and she said since they were Pro they could sell early. So the Pro store might be out, but there's loads of other MAC stores in Vancouver, unlike our pathetic two counters.

What do you girls think the chances are our stuff will show up tommorow? Sigh. If it is not there, I am going to drive to Nanaimo on Wednesday and pick up my stuff from them. Sorry Victoria, you're gonna lose a big sale if d'bohemia doesn't show up tommorow...............

The cranky MA I talked to on Sunday said it'd be in by the end of the week at the latest. Making it what, 8 days late? I am so not impressed.

Just got bac from mac and still no stuff. Grrr. They do have the lustreglasses out so I snagged palatial and star nova. I am going to Nanaimo tommorow and I just called and got them to hold my stuff for me. I feel better now knowing that it is sitting there with my name on it. That being said, I won't be back until late thursday night, but if anyone from here wants anything, PM me and let me know. We can probably work something out. Otherwise I don't know when Victoria is going to get stuff. I talked to Melanie today (god I love her) and she said some stuff is there, but they are waiting on the e/s still, and won't put anything out until the whole collection arrives. That's fair enough, but I'm OCD and I need my fix now. Heh heh.

D'BOHEMIA

The pigments are in at the Victoria store and Rummy is in. They wouldn't put it out because they didn't have the whole launch. Mel is always friendly and full of energy which you have to be to do well in a job like that.

PS: The pigments are really nice!!!!!

Anyone heard anything yet? I'm on the call list for when they put D'Bohemia out, but considering I asked the MA who seemed rather put out by my presence, I'm not entirely trusting that I actually got put on, especially since I didn't actually see her do it, she just said she'd do it later. Why yes I am paranoid, thank you.

I wonder what the sell out rate will be once it is in. Do you think it'll all be gone faster than usual because of the delay, or do you think the bulk of the customers have made other arrangements by now?

Ok, I am in Nanaimo and my stupid 20 year old car died. I am ready to divorce my husband cause he loves the thing and won't get a new car. A big plus though, Nanaimo MAC had all the d'bohemia stuff, it's beautiful, and on top of that, they had lots of Madame B stuff left and almost all the blush doubles and almost all the new amplified texture lipsticks. This place rocks. Yahhhh. I gave up on Victoria. The girls here were so nice and helpful. I can't wait until the morning to try all my loot! I hope all the Vic stuff comes in soon for the rest of you. I would pick up stuff for people, but now my car is dead and I don't know when we'll be home. Grrrrr. At least I'll be pretty with all my new makeup.

That's terrible Shawna, I'm so sorry! *hugs* I hope everything works out soon. Ooo, did they have Meadowland? XD I'm sorry, I'm so single minded. What were your top two lipglass picks from D'Bohemia? I'm leaning towards Beaute and Gitane myself, but Flash of Flesh seems to be getting rave reviews from everyone, too. I'm tempted to head up to Nanaimo now, though. Do you think it's worth cancelling a consultation for? This one on the 20th has a professional photographer and we get to keep our headshots, so that's kind of cool. Ahem, sorry, I babble. ^^;

I would keep my app't just cause they are so much fun, but I would be tempted to come here just to make sure I got all the stuff I wanted. Hee hee, I did, and it's sooooo pretty. The pigments and shade fluidline are amazing. I am not sure if they had meadowland, but they had some lustreglasses from madame b and they had luminary lustreglass which is beautiful. The lipglasses from the d'bohemia collection are nice, but gitane was too dark for my ghost complexion. I went with the lustreglasses instead. I just had to have palatial and star nova. I need to be at work tonight and I hope my dad can get the car running. Have a safe trip if you come. Maybe we'll see you there today. My mom already tried to snag my shade fluidline so I told her to go and get her own. Ha ha, it's that nice! Good luck.

Well, I pretty much gave up and bought the eyeshadows and other stuff that I wanted in Vancouver yesterday when I was there. They were sold out of the D'Bohemia e/s because they lauched so long ago. So we get doubly screwed here because if you wait and try to be loyal to your local counter (which I like to do and I'm too lazy to always go to Van) you miss stuff selling out in Van.

Then you have to pay through the nose on eBay or try to swap on MUA.

Argh.

Why suffer through a ferry trip when you can order online? >D

I only went because I was there already for a job interview.

I used to get a friend in Vancouver to pick stuff up for me because her assistant has a PPID card but she's on maternity leave now (the assistant - not my friend!) and my friend has a job that keeps her REALLY busy so I feel bad about making her go to the store and then to the post office. Plus she's not a MAC addict so it's not like she's going anyways.

But if I get the job that I applied for (fingers crossed

) it's literally kitty-corner to the PRO store on Robson which would be AWESOME.

Although I'll be so broke words fail...

i don't want to burst anyones bubble but most of the eyeshadows look like something they already have. i wasn't that impressed, but i have been using mac for like 7 yrs. i miss the old days. i do love flash of flesh though it looks a little like precocious. and as far as some of the MA's being rude....the one girl said her friend freaked out and started yelling because she couldn't buy the makeup right then...personally i thought it was nice the MA even showed it to her in the first place....there are rules everyone has to abide by...if i was working the counter when that girl started yelling, i would have been very rude.....mac can be great to work for, but retail has its ups and downs. some people can be real assholes. thats why i only freelance for mac now...no more dealing with morons and bullshit....
i do however think its great you guys are so into mac...i used to be just like that back in the day!
