What do you do with special packaging once the product is finished?

Forgive me if this has been discussed but I did a search and didnt find anything. What do you do with your special packaging (such as lipsticks, lipglass, trios and quads, etc.) once the product is finished? does anyone keep them and do you have any ideas on how to make it useful or do you just back to mac them?

I remember reading somewhere where someone used a LE blush package that was finished and popped in a different blush.

I haven't used up any of mine yet, but the only one I plan on keeping is my Barbie BP compact. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with it once it's empty -- but I won't have to worry about that for a looooong time.

All the rest, I'll B2M. As pretty as some are, there's no sense in hanging onto empty plastic when I could get a free lipstick or eyeshadow.

If I ever finish off my solar field bronzer, I will definitely be keeping the bright orange clam. I'll probably hang onto the Fafi IPP clams, too, and just pop new pans of stuff into all of them. The eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks and lipglosses, though? Those I can part with. Or, at the very very most, keep one of each if I can find a use for it.

Is it true you can change the powders over in compacts? I dented my Fafi Belightful powder trying to take it out of the case.

I doubt I will finish a LE product but if it really happens,most probably I will b2m it if is all scratchy and worn out. If it still looks good, then I will keep it.

At the moment I've kept all my packages from everything I bought and I keep it all in a bag hidden from anyone that can see how much I've spent by looking at them!!! I would like to think that eventually I'll recycle them, but Fafi and Barbie packaging is too cute to chuck. There have been a few posts on here about what you can do with them. Try looking under the threads for make up storage. I've seen girls use the lipstick cartains as lipstick holders by cutting them in half and then taping them together. I've also seen someone on here use the packaging to make a little collage for her daughters bedroom. I'd be interested to see any crafty/nifty ideas as well as it's a shame to throw anything away. xx

But seriously, I will probably try to pop out the used pans of my Barbie compacts when those are finished. But seeing as how they don't even have dips...it will be awhile!

I just B2M them. Keeping used/empty LE packages means less space for items from new collections. Besides, I get so excited when I get a lippie or eyeshadow for free

I have done it with my Barbie powders... you have to be super careful and do it very slowly.

I depotted my Barbie BP and kept the compact, I take it in my bag whenever go anywhere, its pretty handy

I've been working on switching out reg lippies to LE packaging after reading an older thread and it CAN be done, I successfully switched out my Curiositease lippie but I broke a few others in the process - still trying to make that technique idiot proof.....LOLOL!!

I have yet to finish a product, but when I finish LE stuff I will definitely pop stuff out (if it's the compact) and put something in. For instance I plan on putting some Star IPP in my Fafi case when I finish with that. For stuff like eyeshadows and lipsticks, I figure I can do something with them-maybe some wall art.

I might hold on to them and just pop new product into them. I could use the lipglass container to make my own custom lipglass. As for the lipstick, I would take it to a place like Color Lab and have them either duplicate the lipstick if I liked it (ala Melrose Mood) or just make a custom lipcolor for me and use the special packaging.
