My first job was at Jamba Juice during my junior year of HS. Then I started work as a lifeguard and swim instructor the summer after. And worked my way up to pool manager by the time I graduated.
In college, I've only worked in labs doing research. I'm still there -- currently in a virology lab.
For a first job, I say look around at retail stores, fast food and restaurants, grocery stores, theatres, and/or receptionist/filing type jobs. With the summer coming up, there's probably a demand at camps. And with baby-sitting experience, you should look into day cares and stuff like that.
