Where/How did you Learn the Art of Make Up?

I always liked makeup but I kept it really simple until a couple of years ago, and moreso last Christmas when I got MAC from my sister.

Now I'm a hardcore addict and I'm picking up tips and tricks from all over the place (especially here!) and experimenting a lot!

7th Grade - I've always loved it, and I really learned from teen magazines. Then when I was 18 I took a modeling acting course from John Casablancas but I really didnt' learn much except that I was already doing fine and makeup is a good investment, lol. I've gotten into doing more sophisticated eyeshadows only this year- good liners and nice high end products. :) I'm really enjoying buying nice makeup again.. it really feels nice to have a good assortment. I've always liked makeup though.

i learned from the kevyn aucoin books and when my mom realized i was interested in it (12th grade?), she took me to makeovers so I could learn what looked good on me. I stopped wearing it for awhile and restarted a little while ago.

I startet when I was 13 years old with mascara and white lipstick, that was in the sixties - surely, I'm the oldest member on board

So I remember, me and my school class were on the ice skating center in town and had a lot of fun there. The white lipsticks looked great and fit well to this ice party.

This was also a look of the sixties which I liked and I often copied...

Until I was 40, I hardly used lip stick, but I made up my eyes usually rather strongly. Then I found in a bookshop a book "Color me beautiful" by Carol Jackson, an read it with great interest.

To my surprise, I found out that I am a cool winter typ and have to use cool colours to look fresh. Carol Jackson gives also detailed techniques how do make up your eyes and so on... and it works very well

From then on, I use only cool colours. before had I always warm tones, which let look me pale and ill

With cold colors I looked very much better and fresher. Also my colleagues in the office noticed a difference and addressed me on my good appearance.

This is a long time ago but I still use the technique of Carol Jackson to do my make up. In the meanwhile my hair is rather grey, but the cool colours still work...

With best regards,
Blanche

I've been playing with makeup since I was in maybe 6th grade - eyeliner and flavored glitter lipgloss. by 7th grade I had discovered what the smudger on the back of my CG eyeliner was capable of, and on I went to light foundation, mascara and eyeshadow. by the end of 8th grade was attempting silver/gray smokey eyes - although my intention was a more gothic looking thing because well I was going through a phase what can I say. then I got lazy when I started high school and was bogged down by work and just stuck to eyeliner and plain gloss then I found my first serious boyfriend and he didnt like it so I was just doing powder and chapstick. winter of sophmore year I discovered MAC, and here I am a year later with a new boyfriend who's always excited to see what interesting look I came up with, obsessed and trying to justify to my mother why I need the mini paints mini pigments some fluidlines the holiday eye palletes and a set of brushes for my sweet 16 and/or christmas haha

and the saga continues
