Why am I not excited about Moth Brown?

Ok so everyone is ranting and raving about Moth Brown, and is so excited about it being re-released next month. I have been searching the boards, and the web checking out as many pictures as I can using this shadow. Honestly, I am not really impressed. I feel like I should be though because everyone else is
lol.gif
There is SOOOO much that I want from the Barbie Collection, that I am thinking about skipping this shadow, BUT I am so scared I will regret it later. Does anyone else feel this way? I mean I NEVER where brown, or grey, and rarely purple, so it wouldn't be logical for me to get it. But I feel like I should. I know I will get much more use out of the other shadows, lip stuff, blushes, nailpolish, etc. I guess I am playing into all the hype. Does anyone else feel the same way? Will someone PLEASE tell me that it is ok to leave it and buy something else? It's bad enough the haul I am planning is almost $200 as it is...

well if it's something you won't like, don't get it! It's just personal preference and Mothbrown just happens to be a popular color. Hot pink is popular with some people for lips but you won't catch me wearing it even if it's the most sought after lipstick ever! For some people it might be the collector's value but if you're not into that then definitely pass

Otherwise you'll be staring at it like "wtf did I buy this??" Ive done that before haha oops!

I agree with prinzessin784. However, if you decide to purchase it and end up don't like it, you can swap it or sell it. I'm pretty sure someone else out there that wants it

This color is hard to explain until you see it in person. I wouldn't make any decisions until you physically are looking right at it. Why does everyone plan out what they're gonna buy before they go anyway? Isn't it easier to just go to MAC and see what you like and then buy what you can afford/want??? I don't understand why everyone makes these lists BEFORE they go, wait till you're there and then decide

I honestly think you won't regret not getting it...IMHO, it's not overly special...I think what's happening is that you're seeing all the hype about it, and it's hard to ignore that...but seriously, you can use Smut and get the same effect...if you should ever decide to wear those greyish brown colors!

I have to admit, I look at it and think...Meh.

but I'll wait until I see it before discounting it. Browns are iffy on my complexion, and if it's as 'purple-y' as I've heard, I definitely won't be able to wear it. :/

I have to make a 'list' before I go, otherwise I'll spend all my money!

Plus, it's kinda fun to think about.

Thanks for all your help ladies. I feel better hearing that it is similar to Smut, which I have in the Intense eyes palette. I was reading the reviews on MUA, and many said it was also similar to Shale and Satin Taupe. I had both of those and swapped them both away. Ultimately, I will have to wait and see, but I am pretty sure I will be passing on it. Time will tell though. I like to plan ahead because it gives me something to look forward to, and I have to save money too... I can't wait for this collection!!

I hated all the shadows from Madame B.............*runs and hides* The textures sucked and the shadows were just not as vibrant on as they were in the pot. I ended up giving all of mine away.

for me, moth brown is definitely not a lid color, but it blends well and ties lots of looks together, so it's great for the crease.
it's one of those colors that you can only appreciate fully in person, i guess

i bought this when it first came out and it just sat in my train case for over two years, i never used it, i didnt realize how popular it was untill i join a couple of makeup boards so i put it in my swap list and i got tons of people wanting it and i swap for something i really wanted that was rare.. so i plan on giveing this color another try and i plan on buying extra cause it's great to have for swaps or sale dont worry if you dont like it someone will take it..

Hmm looking at those swatches its not at all like the description of charcoal grey... bugger. I was so looking forward to a frost finish charcoal. I'll check it out in person, possibly, but seeing as its an hour to my nearest MAC I won't bust a gut I don't think.

Yes I was wondering about this color too, I have never seen it in person before. On one of the promo shots for Barbie it looks blue? I wrote a list of everything I want too and I feel like a little kid haha. Most of the time I don't get everything on the list because once I try the color on it may look awful on me. I am really excited about the two beauty powders.
I am trying to talk myself out of the baby pink Liquid Last because I really don't like applying those things...haha.

Me too...it looks "Meh" on most FOTD's I see and those pics don't help...but I'll just see it in person and then form a real opinion.

There's plenty of stuff in life that I'm not excited about that other people are. Don't sweat it

There are so many browns out there (in all make-up collections) that I'm sure you can find a decent one if you regret not buying it.

Have it, like it - but it's not a favorite of mine.
I just don't understand the hype over an EYESHADOW. It's not the end of the world if you don't get it. Like Parrot. I don't have it and I'm surviving just fine with other turquoise shadows.

I have Moth Brown, and it's nice.. but it's not my favorite. I'm surprised there's so much hype surrounding it. But I do like it.

Thank you!! I mean...it's a bright blue that most people won't wear every day or wear very badly at times...I'm so sick of seeing people whine about it. I think it has to do more with the hype than the actual color itself.
