Why am I not excited about Moth Brown?

I just don't understand the hype over an EYESHADOW. It's not the end of the world if you don't get it. Like Parrot. I don't have it and I'm surviving just fine with other turquoise shadows.

I completely agree that all the hype over eyeshadows is a bit much. With that being said, it they were to re-release Parrot, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat

... not because of the hype, but because I KNOW I'd wear it as 75% of my shadow collection is teal shadows. I can almost guarantee that I will skip moth brown the more I think about it because brown is not a color I wear but maybe once a month. There are way to many other things from Barbie that I have to have, and know that I will use!

You know what's weird that i noticed??? About 2 weeks ago i searched Moth Brown on eBay and i found nothing! Now that there is all this talk that moth brown is coming back, i tried eBay again and guess what?? There was about 5-6 listed!!!!! I guess all those people who were hanging on them to sell them for big money realize they won't make nothing once it's re-released and available for everyone at retail! So i guess all those sellers are trying to get rid of it now before Barbie comes out!

But yeah....i think i'm going to decide in person if i want it....i hope its as great as everyone hypes it up to be because it looks so different from pic to pic!!!!

I thought the same thing! I can't belive that people are still bidding $30 on this shadow when I will be out again in a month!

I am so glad that other people feel the same way that I do about Moth Brown! It was weird...for the "new stuff excitement" after Madame B came out, all of the collective pants-wetting was about Meadowland and Metamorph, but at some point a Moth Brown fandom broke out. Somewhere, somehow, someone hyped it out and I think people who had passed on it started getting stressed that they missed out on some allegedly awesome LE color and would never be able to get it again. And now? Now it's coming back (which, as we know, so rarely happens with truly standout colors with MAC), so I think it's natural that people would be excited over it. Me? I have Moth Brown, and it isn't the best thing since sliced bread in the eyeshadow department, IMHO. I don't find myself using it often, but when I do reach for it, it's usually to break things up when doing a purpleish look (like with Shale and Star Violet), but I think you could use other browns for that purpose with an identical effect. This is definitely a color that is hard to really imagine from descriptions or online swatches, but honestly, I don't think that you'd be missing much in skipping it. It's become one of those "it looked so unique under the hypnotic MAC lights, but now I have very little use for it at all" shades for me.

I have to admit that I am excited to get this color. I love how it looks sort of purple-y, but not entirely. I didn't even buy MAC when Madame B. came out, so I am looking forward to going on Feb 15 to check it out in person and see what all the hoopla is about.

I thought I saw a post in this thread that said that Moth Brown was bright blue - I may have misread that post but I have MB and it isn't blue at all (at least on me) and it's definitely not bright. This color, depending on what it's paired with, can look brown, grey, silver, purple but I have yet to have it turn blue on me.

This is a great crease or liner color.
