Why Collect Full Sized Pigments?

I prefer pigments over pressed eyeshadow. There are so many uses for pigments, lip gloss, blush, bronzers, eyeshadow, nail polish, highlighters, etc. I love being able to mix the perfect color whenever I need it. I have so many home made skin finishes, blushes, lip glosses.

And yes you can use them up. I started collection MAC pigments in April 2009 so far I have collected 139 and I have gone through a full jar of Vanilla and Pink Bronze.

i have both full sizes and samples. the main reason why i buy full sizes is because they're good value for money, multi purpose and i never want to run out of certain colours!

the samples i buy are colours that i'm not sure i'd use often and colours that i want to try it before i buy it to make sure i like the texture and such.

plus i love looking at my jars of picgments!!

I have a lot of full size jars... don't know the specific number off the top of my head, but I'm going to say like 60+. I have so many because I was pretty much collecting, basically so I could say I have this or that pigment. I just got caught up in the hype! Awhile ago, I came to the realization that I just like eyeshadows better (prefer pressed), so now I only get colors that I know I'll use. I like to have the full size, but mostly because I'm a little OCD.

they work GREAT as highlighters
i tend to find that with pressed e/s, its hard to layer that stuff on. with (let just say) vanilla pigment, i use everyday!

im already at half jar

I never ever use a whole jar, but they are so pretty to look at lined up! I have a million mismatched little sample jars of pigments in a plastic bin. The full size pretty ones are all lined up on the shelf and look amazing!

I don't have alot of full size pigments but the one's that I do have I got the full size because I love the color and am afraid of spilling the sample and not being able to find it again. I usually buy samples first if its a color I can't get in the store. If its something i will use alot then I search for a full size or at least 1/2 a jar. If its a color that I won't use alot then I just stick with a sample.

Ditto for me. I get samples as freebies, but have never paid for them. I love looking at those big jars full of color!

What I don't understand is that I know people who will fork out $22 for a NARS eyeshadow without hesitation, but balk at the idea of buying a MAC pigment for $19.50 because they feel it is a waste.

Pigments are awsome because they can be used in so many ways.
Personally I only buy pigments that I know I'll be getting lots of uses out of.

I recently halved all my jars and sold a bunch of the OJ's but I'm so ocd I prefer to buy the jar and half it myself, that way all my jars look alike and I'm sure of the cleanliness and authenticity also.
My reason was I'd never use the full jar but I understand wanting everything to be the same

I agree. MAC pigments are a great value for the money. MUFE eyeshadows are $20 and I'll hit the pan on one of them way before I'll run out of a MAC pigment.

well for the pros they often go through multiple simply because they use it a lot but for the regulars (like me) we use it in many different ways such as on the eyes, lips, body, etc. I'm almost done my melon piggie ^^

Out of everything mac, pigments are my MAIN obsession. I have over 50 full size jars. I try and buy at least one or two with every collection. I think that firstly i find the pigments work with all eyeshadows to enhance them, i love that you can mix them and that they are so vibrant. Even though they last ages i do freelance make up so i am able to use them frequently and often use them rather than just on the eyes, all over say the cheek or temple. I find them very versatile. And above all else, they're so pretty! Like a lot of people on specktra, i'm a huge mac addict, but pigments are my main vice!

I suppose for most women even ten eyeshadows and two pigments would seem excessive, but then if your vice is make up then it doesn't seem so. I've never been into clothes that much. Although i love them and fashion, i don't worry too much about rushing to the shops for a new top. So while some woman are spending money on fags, new shoes or whatever my thing is to get the latest glitter/pigment. I think that for most of us it's just enjoyable to collect them. And as they do last sooo long, they're like an investment!

Plus: getting samples from other people... i think you dont know where that product has been or how old it is or if it is a fake.... it's just a bit dodgy
