Re: Applied at Clinique (a few questions...)

Yeah keep your look conservative since that's what we're pretty much all about. And I would totally not stress over the interviews or talent plus it's just questions to see your personality. Good luck with the interviews!

They wanted that spot filled asap so through my whole process it was like a week to week and a half tops.

Have you worked on counters before? I tried to apply at MAC but they were not hiring at the moment, I need a job ASAP so my other option is clinique.. I do not have experience working on counters, but I do have the passion for it!.. hope that helps me :)

Oh yeah if you got the passion for it then your totally good! I did not have any cosmetic experience whatsoever and I got hired on with Clinique. It's a really good brand to start with since they educate you on a lot of stuff with the skin. Makeup application is something they don't really go over much but practice makes perfect. I hope to switch to MAC eventually when they do start hiring.

Fintia, Passion is good! I think its what made this interview so good. We just talked about sales for a bit then rushed back into cosmetics talking about the Alice in Wonderland BOS, makeup removers, and CCO's in the States. I was so nervous, but really it was all good! Give it a try! I've never worked in cosmetics, but hopefully i'll get the job!

Trying to Get A Job With Clinique

Hi,
I have been a stay at home mom for over 3 years. I need to go back to work full-time because I will be a single mom. I am a licensed esthetician and I also have experience in sales. I am trying to get a job with Clinique as an account coordinator. I can't be a beauty advisor because I would not be making enough money to support my family. I have not suceeded yet. I will take any help to get an interview for this kind of position. I live in Illinois.

How can I become an Account Coordinator with Clinique

Hi,
I have been a stay at home mom for over 3 years. I have a B.S. degree and an esthetician license. I also have experience with sales. I need to go back to work full-time because I will be a single mom. I really want a career as an account coordinator with Clinique. I can't be a beauty advisor because that position does not pay enough money to support my family. I live in Illinois. Any ideas on how I can get an interview for this position would be such a big help. Thanks.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to apply for that position without being in-store advisor first. Clinique usually promotes within so it is very hard to apply for that spot and get in without working in store first. The only recommendation I would say to do is to log on to clinique.com and apply under the career section for that position. Account Coordinators are put under a lot of pressure and do a lot of work in store to help counters increase their numbers. They attend seminars a lot which is learning about new product and holding meetings all the time. Then depending on where you are at you may have to travel too. I'm here in the DFW area as a Clinique consultant so I am not sure how it is in the Illinois area but I can share what I know, I hope this helps you!

Hi everyone! I've really enjoyed reading these posts, it makes me feel optimistic about finding a new job. I currently work in an office and it's recently become unbearable. I've decided I'd like to get a job at Clinique (I have no cosmetic experience but I've worked retail before).

I applied on the website and through the Macy's website. Is there anything else I should do? Should I visit counters and introduce myself? Should I apply at a department store (in person)?

Thanks for all the help so far!!

Nah if you applied online they will usually call you back if they have openings. Retail experience helps a lot, and cosmetic experience isn't totally necessary because when I first started 3 yrs ago I didn't have any but they took me anyway. Good luck on your search!

Well, I got a call! It was from Clinique's corporate office. We had a brief chat and then she said I'd get a call later for a phone interview. It was from the resume I submitted online.

It's interesting because Macy's sent me a form email saying "None of your qualifications match our positions" last week.

She asked me where I preferred to work and I said Nordstrom's. Ha! Take that, Macy's!

Good! Yeah Macy's is kind of on hiring freeze at the moment. But hopefully you'll get to take Nordies. They take care of their people better so cross fingers!

Interview at Clinique at Sears in Canada

I was just wondering if anyone on here from Canada has had an interview at Clinique and what their experience was like??

Also i have tattoos (a 3/4 sleeve and two on my chest) and a couple piercings (my lip and monroe) should i take out my peircings and cover my tattoos for the interview or do they allow you to have them?

I submitted my resume online and the counter called me about a week later to set up an interview! So any information would be awesome! What type of questions do they ask and for those of you that got hired how did you answer them??

Re: Interview at Clinique at Sears in Canada

i have a feeling theyre going to want you to take out your pericings and keep your tats covered. ive had a couple friends that have worked for clinic, and while both really hated the job (mostly due to the counter manager) they have said that it was a more uptight enviornment catered towards older clientel.
in any case, good luck.

Really late to this game but I worked for Clinique for a few months and I LOVED that job. I only left due to finding a FT job in my field and relocation two hours away.

I worked at a Herberger's (they are owned by Bon-Ton, who owns the Younker's, Elder Beerman's, etc) and I applied online when I saw an ad in the local newspaper. They were hiring for Lancome, Estee Lauder and Clinique. When I had my first interview, they asked which I wanted to work for and I said Clinique because I knew more about it. I interviewed with the ass't store manager and the manager over that department. Easy peasy.

A few days later, I had a phone interview that asked me to rate myself on a bunch of stuff and they wouldn't indicate any emotion so I had no idea how that went. It was very strange questions.

After that, I had to come back AGAIN to meet with the store manager and the counter manager. This is where we talked about sales and goals and more about the business in general.

I had no retail or cosmetic experience before I applied but I have 3 degrees in graphic design, commercial design and web design and have been in the field for 13 years. Plus, I worked for Target in their design department so I have the retail on the OTHER side of things. And I've been wearing makeup since 5th grade. lol

My counter manager was AMAZING and trained me so well. She was going on maternity leave and I was filling in for her so we didn't have a lot of time but I felt quite confident. I went on one of the training sessions and had a great time as well.

I would highly recommend working for them although the pay is shitty if you get paid from the actual store vs getting paid directly through MAC/Lauder.
