Would you rather have 15 pan palletes or 4 pan palletes?

I've always been against the idea of palletes as i love having my eyeshadow in the original little pots but now with my eyeshadows lying around in no order and my pitiful collection having some potential to grow after some saving i'm thinking more favourably towards palletes.

So i was wondering do people prefer having a few 15 pan palletes or lots of 4 pan palletes.

15 pan ones you can fit loads in and save space and have the convenience of it all being there and if you have a big collection then you can have all your neutrals, brights, greens etc in each pallete and you can store lots of colours away in very little space but you can't see which colours are in which because of the opaque lid and you have less freedom with taking away with you individual colours for the day. (if you're taking them somewhere with you to apply)

4 pan ones you can see whats inside due the clear lid, you can easily hold one pallete in your hand and you can arrange it so that you can have a whole look in one pallete and you can easily take it with you everyday and you can choose which one to take with you for different days but you need lots of them if you have a big collection and the clear lid looks a little bit tacky to me at times.

That's what I've done. I still have a bunch of separates, tho. The 4-pans are fun to concoct your own quads, and also to use for your main colors you go to more than others, I think. I also thought you could make quads of 4 neutrals that you prefer for highlighters, shaders, etc., and have them in those type of "families." But I think the 15's with all my main blues together, greens, etc., are great so I can grab the case & pick which one I want for my color.

I'm happy to leave the ones that don't come in pots in their pots, but prefer 15-pans purely for storage. I do have a 4-pan in case I want to group some, but I plan to be very selective about what e/s I get...the second 15-pan will be for the new veluxe pearl e/s.

The pots do take up a bit of space however. But I don't want to break any e/s so they can stay in their original homes!

yea the 4 pans are cute..but now that my collection has grown...i had to get 15 pan palettes....and then once u carry around th 15's...you start to leave ur 4's behind. i would just go for it and get a 15 if u can fill it.....once u have 8 4 pans it gets unruly

I had started buying pots. Then I learned about the pans and I'd buy a quad every time I went to MAC. Then I saw everyone with the 15 pallette and I bought one. I put all my shadows in it and everytime I used it I hated it. So, I brought it back and exchanged it for 4 more Quads. I love the quads so much better! I never depot my LE shadows either so I have a mix of both!

Can i ask why you realised you prefer the 4 pans?

Regarding the having your eyeshadows 'living' in 15 pan and then putting them in 4 pans when you want to, how easy is that to do? I've no experience of depotting etc can you just pick out the shadow pan easily from thr 15 pan pallete and slip it in the 4 pan straight away?

Yes, they just have a magnet on the bottom of the pan to hold it in place in the palettes, so it is as simple as lifting it out of the 15-pan and dropping it into the slot in the 4-pan.

Ah thats good, i'm thinking if i ever have a big enough collection and ever get to visit a proper store i'll have one 15 pallete which will prob be more than enough for my collection once it's grown and maybe one or two 4 pan ones to put shadows in for different looks and chnage around the colours in them for conevenience.

Where do they sell the palletes? Only pro stores or all stand alone stores?

15 is nice for the bulk of e/s but if you going out for the night and you want a "touch up" the 4's are great to carry along... so I have a lil of both

The quads (4 pans) are just easier for me to work with. I have limited counter space in my bathroom so the quads are smaller and fit better in my makeup case. Also, I like having just the eyeshadows I'm using out or I get flustered! Hehehehe. Just a matter of preference really. Most people enjoy the 15 pan, but not me.

I'm the same-I like having the 15 for home to organise all the colours and then take a 4 to go out or if I'm going away for the weekend.

I prefer the quads. I like to separate by "looks" so this is easier for me. I get overwhelmed when I have too many choices. I am a total libra that way. I do have all of my Milani's in a 15 pallette though because I don't use those for my long -term night looks. My Mac can take an 8-9 hour server shift without moving, but I haven't found anything else that can. I also use an empty spice rack to seperate my pencils, lipsticks and glasses, shadesticks...Ooops, getting off topic......

I have a couple of 15s for the shadows I use less frequently, but I prefer the 4s. It's such a PITA to dig the 15s out of the bottom of the drawer (since they're so flat they store best on the bottom) and then I'll have no clue which one I want anyway! I just like being able to see what's in the 4s. I also have limited counter space and I have a horror of dropping one of those 15 pans & all of the e/s shattering! *shudder* However if they made 15s with clear lids....that might be a whole 'nother story

For storage and compactness I prefer the 15 pan pallettes. I accidentally broke my last 4 pan pallette and had to B2M it

- might pick up another one for evenings out though

I like that I can see all my colors at once with my 4 pans. I only have 8 shadows in pans (and Lucky Green that I dare not depot) plus one premade quad (Diana 2) but I find them very convenient. I can also hold it comfortably and safely in one hand while I work with the shadows which is a plus as well. Maybe as I get more shadows, I'll move to a 15 pan but for now I love my 4 pans.
