Lou, ur new pic is super HOT!!

personally, I am relieved that there is no hysteria as yet over this collection..... I dont wanna be up early and standing in queue to buy Makeup!!

I do love the look of family crest, Later and moonlight night (tho scounting around for an OJ of Deeo blue green seems more sensible).. the faerie gle, lipstick and maybe glamora castle.. thats it... am not gonna chk out the palettes cos they are probably overpriced here in Singapore like the last Holiday ones..

OT: I'm still debating on getting MN p/g. I have deep blue green p/g so do I REALLY need it? I need to cut my list as much as I can handle
don't debate on MN. get it.

Wow I didn't even know there were launch parties for this collection... this new forum layout had been giving me so many new email alerts I haven't really been paying enough attention LOL.

Hope everyone had fun at the parties if you went:)

Were they all tonight, or different dates throughout the country?

Does anyone know if there was one in the Minneapolis area (either at MOA or Uptown)?

Well... I thought I could get away with just getting the Beauties Play It Cool palette. Apparently swatches of the Dashing Lassie palette have something else in mind, though...

So, just got back from the launch party, and it's kind of a mixed bag. They screwed up my order (I don't think they're used to how busy it was) so I can't do swatches, but I already called and fixed it and I'll go to exchange tomorrow. Stupidly, I didn't check the bag before I left. But, to put it lightly, it was a clusterfuck. My store is tiny, and it was packed to the fullest. I waited in line for twenty minutes to even get near the collection, and I still had to ask people to pass me stuff. Insanity!

I ended up getting what I thought I would: Moonlight Night, The Family Crest, and The Faerie Glen.

My Purchases:

I didn't back up The Faerie Glen, though, because it is kind of dark on me, and wasn't as perfect as I thought it would be. Had to have it for the name.

My mom fell in love with Undercurrent, so she picked that one up, but swatching the pearlglides on my hand, I got that kind of under-the-skin-itchy feeling, so I decided to pass. They were all amazing, though. Black Swan and Undercurrent are must haves.

Moonlight Night is awesome. I, unfortunately, don't have it next to me (they gave me Later instead) but I will tomorrow. Must have for green smokey eyes and people who like dark shadows. Plus, it's a pigment. There was no way I could pass.

The Family Crest is my pick for absolute must-have. If you can only get one thing, get this. Hands down. It really is as gorgeous as Erin's swatches. A real stunner.

Stuff I Liked But Didn't Pick Up:

My Highland Honey was actually really nice on me, but I skipped. I tried it next to Peaches, and I liked it better, so I'll get that sometime when it's not so freaking crowded.

Glamora Castle was really nice. If I didn't already have a nice collection of grays, I would have gotten it in a heartbeat.

Reelers & Rockers was my favorite palette!!! I may even go back for it, honestly. All of the colors swatched like a dream and looked beautiful together.

But, I can see why Erin like PIC and DL better. DL is the perfect neutral grouping, and PIC was unbelievable. I would have gotten it if I couldn't dupe every single shade. Except for Hold My Gaze. That color is just....

The sets were underwhelming. The brush sets were nice, especially the bags, but passable, at least for me.

I was going to get Sir Teddy, but he was tiny! We're talking beanie baby, maybe slightly larger. Adorable, don't get me wrong, but very small.

Salina's Overall Experience:

I think that's just about everything.... I didn't have a drink (I didn't have the balls, liba
lol.gif
jk), but my mom seemed to enjoy hers. And the waiters were hot. But, when I saw them, I couldn't help but think lumberjack. I don't know.

At the door, they gave me this pin-bow thing, which I love.

I'm already trying to find a way to work it in. And they had the story book in the corner- the big cutout one, anyway.

Overall, it was a nice event. Though, I don't think I would have tolerated it for any other collection. Needless to say, I'll be passing on the WW event, if they have one. But, I did think it was well put together. I'm just not one for crowds.

^Awesome review on TT! I'm thinking of breaking down and getting all three pigments since they are going to be the first to be sold out along with Black Swan and Undercurrent. I'm going to back up undercurrent three times now!

I'm pretty sure the MOA didn't have one. I called at the beginning of the month a couple times and no one seemed to know. They took my name down, but no one ever called to let me know if there was one. Not sure about Uptown.

Someone tell me I don't need Beauties Play it Cool! I actually prefer DBG than Moonlight Light in that swatch but I bet it's way different when on the lids.

I actually like DBG in Erin's swatches, too, but just from playing with it at the store, I can tell it'll be way different on the lids. Gorgeous, really. And if this wasn't already obvious

way less blue than DBG.

Okay.... just wanted to write a quick follow up post.

With all of the germs HerGreyness is talking about, and with my own sanity, I only swatched Faerie Glen on my hand at the store. Well, I just put it on, and I will be getting all those backups I talked about! This color is hot- my perfect nude, to a T. Seriously. OMG- I can't stop looking at my lips!

So, I'll be using my two B2M sets (one online, one at counter) to get a few free backups, and I'll have to pay for a few more. This color is amazing. And it's a lustre. And the name.
love.gif
I feel like hugging everything right now. Silly, I know, but it is a great color on me, if I do say so myself. I am on cloud nine with this baby.

I'll also probably get Sir Teddy next week, too. After all, it is a charity item, a MAC toy, and it's a freaking Scottish teddy bear! How did I think I could pass? I'm such a jackass sometimes, I swear.

I think this is what I'll end up hauling by the end.

Moonlight Night
The Family Crest
The Faerie Glen (x3 - at least. probably x5)
Sir Teddy

+ 1 lipglass set and 1 pigment set. Still not bad.

Hi everybody!

I just got back from my local unveiling. Yes it was a madhouse, but they had things somewhat under control as far as grabbing stuff for you to take a look at.

They had a cute boy playing some bad ass electrified traditional violin - amazing he didn't poke anyone with his bow, with how crowded it was. A Tartan Tales model with the huge awesome red hair was there handing out cute mixed tartan fabric rose pins and small books with free form Scottish-y poetry and beautiful Tartan Tale themed photos. Drinks were good, but it's seriously hard to swatch, hold a drink, drink a drink and not spill on anyone when it's wall to wall ladies.

Now the important info:

The color story eye shadows have a lovely texture - very smooth with a beautiful sheen and semi-opaque (although I'm sure you can pack them on and get them more opaque if that's what you want, but I think then they'd be too frosty). Glamora Castle was my favorite, but the peachy color and the wine one were also really nice. I didn't get any though, because I was trying to keep myself under control and they really are large - I'd rather have smaller sizes to have a chance of actually using them up, personally. If this is a foreshadowing of what the Mega Metal shadows are going to be like, it'll be true love!

The new Pearlglide colors: Black Swan is very sophisticated - that same glistening, moist-looking sparkling texture, with enough silver sparkle for it to almost look like a dark, cool-toned gunmetal. I backed this one up and will be wearing this all over my lids with nothing over it for a glossy wet look. I was originally not going to pay attention to Lord It Up, but in person this was so sexy and fresh looking, like a milk chocolate brown with the same heavy golden sheen Undercurrent has. I had to get one.

Pigments: Holy crap @ The Family Crest. That shit is bananas and extra bananas layered over Black Line p/g. It's SO glittery, with purple, gold and green sparkles. This will look insane over French Quarter. I hadn't planned on getting any pigments, but this one was too gorgeous. 'Had to get it. I think this would be really something mixed with clear lip gloss if it's lip safe. Moonlight Night: you can see the teal shimmer nicely, but it's not glittery like TFC. I wore Antique Green to the unveiling so I could compare it - it's the same green, except with the blackened base, so it's much more opaque right out of the jar than AG. I honestly prefer AG, even without the pretty teal highlight, because I like the sheerness for another option when I don't want to wear it wet or over a base. If you don't care about the sheer option and want an instant smokey green eye, MN will be much easier to deal with - you don't even need to wet it to get a really dramatic shimmer and coverage. Later looked nicer to me than the last time I saw it, but I'm still waiting for the upcoming pressed options.

The brush sets: OK, the sets are really nice. The quality on a lot of the brushes are better than I've seen them in the past - better quality hairs. I was going to pass on these, but I wound up breaking down and getting the set with the 168SE, because believe it or not, I actually preferred this SE version to the standard, because the brush head is smaller, which is what always held me back from the larger standard. The bristles are pretty much as soft, they just shrunk it down. The 187SE in the same set is not as nice as the standard - the white hairs are not as long, although the diameter isn't too much smaller. 'Still handy for a purse sized version. All the bags are made out of a nice sturdy fabric that feels like it's been treated for stain resistance and they come with those nice detachable straps and packed into really pretty presentation boxes. These would all be great gifts and all the MAs agreed the actual brush fiber quality is noticeably improved over the past few years'.

The eyeshadow palettes: I got the cool purple one - Altered States and Hold My Gaze from last year are really excellent and I fell in love with To The Ball, which is creamy and matte (though it says it's a Satin) and a very subtle, unusual color. If you bought last year's purple, maybe this one would be a pass, but you should really check out the new colors - the grape VP is sexxxxy too! Most people are going to keel over with the Reelers & Rockers set with all those VP metallics. It was hard to resist, but I've got similar things right now and gold isn't the best color for me, even these 2 very wearable golds that come with this set. I'll wait for the Mega Metals for a metallic fix, but this set is obviously the better deal and perhaps a must have for lovers of VPs. The Twists of Tartan set has some really nice holiday colors and will be the one to get if you're looking for jewel tones (I preferred the gold in this one over the brighter more yellow golds of R&R).

As for the lippies - A Fabulous Fantasy kit has the most fashion forward colors in it, with its neutrals and browns, but there will be plenty of individual shades of these colors later in the year if you want to wait, or just get it and get a jump on what's going to be hot next year. Baron's Rose cremesheen l/s in the Dazzle the Lads lip bag was a beautiful color too - similar to Thrills, but more rose - it looked gorgeous on a gal who was probably NC45 or 50. Cut A Caper is a lustre halfway between Ever Hip and Jazzed and looks really nice with Passing Fancy - these 2 will sell out. I liked Courting Lilac - it's in the same vein as Aristo-Cat, but with a nice gold tinge. Could definitely be a lilac MLBB for the right person - probably will do a bit better on lighter pigmented lips, but after a few hours, it's become really nice on my red lips, so I might go back for it. Radiant Jewels looked great on the same woman Baron's Rose looked good on plus would be fine for fair gals - it's very pigmented. All the dazzleglass cremes are more pigmented than in the past. The nudes and pale pink ones were really soft and pretty and not too frosty or glittery. I'm still probably going to wait for a funky lip gelee from Cham Pale, but maybe not - these are pretty mainstream, but very wearable and soft.

OMG, time to keel over.

Thanks for the awesome review Liba and Laylalovesmac!
Liba thanks for that about the RnR palette. I was starting to doubt but now its holding strong. I was thinking about the peacocky thing too but dont see any real silver and gold e/s in the coll like in RnR

"I liked Courting Lilac - it's in the same vein as Aristo-Cat, but with a nice gold tinge "
Aristo-Cat is my fav lippie right now so YAY! Would you say CL is a lighter sheerer version of AC?

Crap! lol Courting Lilac or Faeire glen? ahhhhh lol
If you're in love with Aristo-cat, I would go for Courting Lilac. Also, I know you're team purple like myself so I would go for that one. But, TFG is a great color. I think it could be flattering on a good number of people.

Ok- that wasn't helpful. Listen to liba- go with Courting Lilac.
