MAC - Holiday 2010 A Tartan Tale Discussion

Waiters definitely had the lumberjack vibe and I saw the tartan pin bows (but didn't get one!! Not even fair! ), but the tiny store was PACKED! Kinda fun to know it was the same in Toronto and AZ

It made me really sad.

I freaking love that music, so it definitely pissed me off.

I'm guessing they were only in big cities maybe.

And yeah it was packed. P-A-C-K-E-D.

They're pushing it back to the 11th? Sad I'll have to wait, but it gives me time to buy lots of backups of TFG. Oh my god. I'm obsessed.

Well, one thing to consider is in R&R you are getting veluxe pearl finish, which goes on opaque - these are very pigmented and as metallic as you're going to see in a standard shadow.

Personally, I like the direction new metallic and shimmery shades are going - sheerer but buildable without being heavy and with a moist looking texture, not just solid metal, unless you want that look. It's just more versatile and also more flattering on my older eyelids. This is the big reason I'm holding back - just waiting to see the new technology. I'm ok without a "pure" silver or gold for now too, since I think we'll be seeing a lot of metallics this year - they'll be around eventually, I bet.

Some people think VP finish is the ultimate, because you don't have to layer it to get it rich and dense and this palette is a great deal, so that's the other side of the coin. It's a very tempting set!

I really need to just buy a decent camera so I can post swatch pics. I tried to swatch TFC, but my camera just can't capture it. I will say that Erin's swatches are 110% dead-on. Exactly what you see, is what you get.

I can't wait for the mini set swatches so I can pick my final choices.

When do you think you'll have those Erin?

I'm having second thoughts on undercurrent. I have a teal eyeshadow from a clarins palette and it looks horrible on me

I kinda like the color but it makes me look sick..so maybe petrol blue would be a better choice?

And you are seriously making me re-evaluate the faerie glen…I don't own a "true" nude lipstick. I thought way to love was it but it turned out to be way to pale on me. Although I might need something with a little bit more pink in it…this looks a little bit too "toffee" on my screen.

I'm definitely cutting out semi-pretious and a wish come true…the only problem is…I'm thinking about getting one of the brush sets, although I already have most of the brushes…just because they're so cute *_*

Why, why, why don't they do these lovely unveilings here?

i think if you are unsure, get it anyway, its going to sell out so quick there isnt a chance for getting it later if you change your mind, you can always sell it if it doesnt suit, and i'm sure a specktrette that couldnt get their hands on it would be totally greatful

I was worried it would be too toffee, too. Even when I swatched it on my hand. But, at least on me, it leans pink on the lips. At least swatch it if you're considering it.

you're so right girls, I think I'm gonna take it!
I don't wanna call my MAC store right now to change my order because I'm pretty sure I'm gonna change my mind about a lot of other things before november 1st and I don't wanna mess with the poor MAC artists' minds, lol.
So I'm probably gonna wait at least another week and then I'll call and:

- add the faerie glen
- cut out the two eyeshadows
- probably change undercurrent to petrol blue
- maybe add the brush set? I really hope I'll be able to avoid that but I'm such a sucker for brushes…sob!

I ordered my stuff from Milan PRO store because I was afraid we wouldn't get the whole collection here (we only have a counter in a department store), plus they don't accept pre-orders until they receive the products so I must have waited until the very last days of october to place mine.
Now I'm thinking if I ordered stuff from my local store I could:
- avoid the hazzard (and € 5 fee) of shipping
- get some samples and a nice chat with the MAC artists, which is always a pleasure

But ordering from Milan would save me from the shame to actually go in a shop and buy a teddy bear (plus a way too large amount of makeup). Yes I know it's for a good cause and it's freakishly awesome and I NEED to have it but I'm not sure I want to look anyone in the eyes while I say "I'll take it"

Anyway I'm still unsure if we're actually getting the entire collection here, there were a lot of cool things in the VV collection that never got to the store, including the nail polishes and wicked ways lipglass!!!

i really like this color. Seems like a nice brown. Can't wait to try it on. i may or may not get it though cause i like the color buckwheat in the 6 dashing palette. trying to limit funds, so this or the 6 dashing palette and Semi-precious looks like the only things i will be hauling.

I considered ordering a few things from my local counter and others from the pro store but I would spend the same in shipping and I'm afraid if I wait until I know what products I can find here the other things could sell out...

How can one be so obsessed about makeup? It should be fun and easy, shouldn't it?

If you're in love with Aristo-cat, I would go for Courting Lilac. Also, I know you're team purple like myself so I would go for that one. But, TFG is a great color. I think it could be flattering on a good number of people.

Aw, you poor thing! I'm in the middle of an internship term, so no midterms for me right now! I don't have any pictures from the event - it was seriously so packed I could barely move, and so I went straight to the collection, swatched and bought to get out of there! I'm sure someone will have some up soon, though

I think Vain & Glorious is my favourite right now! I had to choose one of the sets, and even though Baby Sparks is perm, I'm sure I made the right choice for me
