Not sure if this has been mentioned before... but I just got to preview the collection and what really shocked me was the giant packaging. The brush bags and the mineralize tins are HUGE. Like absolutely GIGANTIC. I assumed the mineralize tins would be like a pencil case size but they're waaaay bigger than that. Now I want them even more knowing I could cram so much stuff into them.
That makes me VERY happy!!!!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, sorry

I couldn't see in the auctions where you said it was linked to specktra swatches

Oh ok sorry!

I'm not sure if I can post it here…I just searched "tartan tale" on ebay.com and there were a few auctions. Some of these have a link to the swatch thread here.
maybe you're using some local ebay site? I don't see them on ebay.it or ebay.co.uk...

I got back from the Pro store a little while ago (I am exhausted. That was a journey!). I ended up with the 6 beauties and 6 twists of tartan palettes, Passing Fancy dg creme, Undercurrent and Black Swan pg's. I love, love, love Black Swan! It's a glossy, creamy black. I thought it would be boring, but far from it. Black Line is actually the one that bored me. It reminded me of French Quarter too much even though it's a bit more gold. It wasn't unique enough to me. Undercurrent is gorgeous, as everyone knows. I've never run out of a liner before, but I am considering backing these up, especially BS.

I got Passing Fancy because it's a really pretty, shimmer, soft coral. I want to use it to make Jazzed more wearable.

The eye palettes had me in the store for an hour! I kept swatching and swatching. If people had been watching me they would've thought I was insane. I kept walking around by the window, by the light just to get a real idea of how they look. Hell, that's $36! Hold My Gaze from 6 Beauties is amazing and worth the price alone. I also fell in love with Altered State(vp) and Magic Moor(vp).

I got Twists of Tartan mainly because the dark green color Bows and Curtsey's(s) is amazing. Never seen/had a green like it. I also adored High Spirits(f), which is the lighter green and Rolled Gold(l) which is like a dirty gold. I swatched it next to Goldmine(which I have) and they are quite different. I don't know what the hell I am going to do with the lightest color, Lady's Prance(m), but I'll figure it out. I also love that Vainglorious is more wearable to me than Antiqued. I am glad I didn't buy Vainglorious when it came out with Villains.

I almost bought Romancin' but I decided to wait. I may get it next week when the collection is really released. I decided to pass on the nail lacquers b/c I am wrapped up in China Glaze. Moonlight Night pigment is already gone! So, if you want that one you better be ON it when it hits online! I kept playing with FC pigment and I was underwhelmed. It would look nice with French Quarter gps, but it's not necessary.

The single shadows still were unimpressive. They felt nice, but they are similar to perm shadows by Mac. The lipsticks, again didn't move me either. I played with the lip kit that had Moth to Flame dg in it and In Synch liner. I LOVE the lipstick in that bag, but I already have MtF and I can't bring myself to buy it again. I also love Baby Sparks, but I am not interested in the lipstick in that bag b/c it's so darn sheer. Also, the liner that comes with it is so jarring.

I also swatched Violet pigment for the first time and it is amazing! What took me so long??? I will get this separately, though b/c I don't want the fluidline that comes with it. Oh and Layla, darling Violet is nothing like Push the Edge. If you don't have PtE already, get it!

I also wanted the teddy keychain, but that was sold out, too! So disappointed. I will buy it later. He is too cute.

On another note, I tried the water based mixing medium on my hand and it burned the hell out of me. And yeah, I made sure it was the water based one. I sniffed it and everything. It itched like crazy. I'm def over wanting that.

maybe some areas eg swatches should become members only?
iagree.gif
That's *so* not cool.

Shontay, I will keep that in mind next time it is promoted or if I can ever find a CCO to go to! It's already sold out from Villains at my counter. So glad you liked the palettes! Great haul.

The pro store I went to still had it. Maybe you can call around? Or perhaps you're not pressed enough for all the hustling.

I swatched Later. and FC pigments next to each other, wet and Later. kicks so much more ass.

I am so behind on all of my color story threads. I have been so busy this week with work and I am still getting used to the new layout of the site.

Anyways I checked this collection out at Macy's and I was super underwhelmed. I felt that everything was really easily duped with other things that I already have in my collection.

I did do a pre-order for all three of the pigments, Sir Teddy (just because he is cute and it goes for a good cause), radient jewel DGC, and black swan pearlglide.

I might ask for one of the palettes and brush set for Christmas. I do love the packaging. MAC really did a great job on the sets and packages this year!

I can't wait to hear what everyone else is getting! I love MAC holiday time.

Shontay, I'm glad you found some items that you liked. Once I heard Vainglorious was in the holiday collection, I decided to skip it from the VV collection and get Twists of Tartan. Funny that you mentioned China Glaze. I just got in my first order of China Glaze polish today and I can't wait to try them.

Moonlight Night - yesterday the SA told me they never got in any Moonlight Night at all so it didn't sell out unless it came in today and sold out right away. This bugs me because I want it and I was hoping to avoid any ordering/shopping madness or further temptations. When I go to buy one thing, I always seem to buy more.

I'm trying not to get as stressed or affected by whether or not I get something- I broke out horribly around VV. It's just not worth it. If I still want it in a few weeks, maybe I'll call around, but if I don't get it, I'm sure it'll come around eventually. Plus, I do have Grape, which is really close.

I really like the FC, but Later does have a special place in my heart.

Nothing will ever come close.

Ok. Well, that is annoying. I really wanted to swatch it again even though I am pretty sure I'm not buying it. They had a nail polish in it's place.
lol.gif

I'm afraid when I go in for the teddy keychain, I will end up buying one or two more things. I will try to fight the urge, though because this collection really doesn't wow me. VV is way better.

Thanks for your report shontay, I am going to take a trip to the pro store tomorrow...From what I've seen so far, I'm underwhelmed with this collection so we'll see..

Thanks for the info, that is really good to know! I have Goldmine too, and am starting to really like Twists of Tartan - I want to get Dashing Lassie, but it's very much on the nude side and just ... you know - just: nude (which is a good thing actually) - ToT looks like a more versatile, more exciting and bold pallette, it's kind of intriguing... So, I probably want them both now!... hmpf

I read somewhere that the teddy with the key clip will only be available in the U.S. (not internationally anyway) - that really makes me sad!

Wow. Thanks for the swatches Erin. I can't believe I really want the bronze/nude lip set. Too bad the coral one is so disappointing. It could've been so hot.

Hey, have you guys seen the post on makeup and beauty blog about TT? I was shocked to see how lightly pigmented everything is on Karen.

maybe she's not using a base on her eye?
th_dunno.gif

all my hand swatches are dry, and they show up fine. so if hers aren't very pigmented, she must not be using a base.

shontay07108

That would make sense. If she's not using a primer, though, with all due respect to her, that's dumb. Why would you try to show someone the color of a shadow without a proper base?
I have to read over her post again. Even though the colors don't really appeal to me enough to buy them, I just think it's odd that it was damn near invisible on her.
