So what are your thoughts about Mellow Mood. I'm thinking about buying the set just because Mellow Mood sounds so gorgeous on the reviews over at Makeupalley.com. XD

Has any of you lovely ladies perhaps a lip swatch or could describe the color a bit? Is there something similar in the permanent range or in other LE's?

Thank you in advance. =)

I have this from the first release and it's a great neutral-ish colour on me. Probably on the darker mauvish side of neutral, but still very easy to wear. For reference I am NW20.

On that topic, is Rolled Gold a repromote from Colour Forms? If it is it's almost identical to a colour released in the 05 holiday palettes called Tendermetal too :)

So I got to see this collection yesterday, but only the holiday sets were in. I think the packaging is really great this time round, and I loved the furry feel of the tartan cases.

The gold-plated MAC logo was really classy too, thumbs up from me!

The stars of the holiday sets were the eyeshadow palettes, IMO. I just hate swatching them all because there's only so much I can swatch with one hand, lol. 6 Beauties Play It Cool reminded me too much of last year's purple palette, so it was a no-brainer to skip it. I truly wanted to love 6 Dashing Lassie, but meh, the colors looked really ordinary and dupeable, so idk if I should get it after all. I already have Showstopper e/s, the light shimmery shade reminded me of Hey e/s (or any other light shimmery color, really), and the shimmery taupe-brown shade reminded me of Style Snob e/s. Bronze e/s is perm so I can always get it as an individual shade later on. I'm thinking if it's better (and cheaper!) for me to just buy an empty quad and create my own palette out of what I have, since they are so similar to the shades in this palette. Overall though, Dashing Lassie is a nice palette, very pigmented and the colors are well put together, but it is not overly unique. If you like the convenience of having all neutral shades in one palette then this might be the one for you. 6 Twists of Tartan is pretty, but some of the shades had pretty bad color payoff and were chalky. This is a fun palette so I might still go back for it. I really liked the dark blue color, but sadly I think it's also the most chalky one. The dark green e/s is so dark it's an almost-black color. The antiqued gold shade and the green were really pretty too. Finally, 6 Reelers & Rockers was surprisingly the star of the palettes, and it was the one I went home with. All colors were well pigmented, and I especially loved the shades on the bottom row (not the white and silver, but those were pretty too), and those 3 shades alone deserved the price tag of the whole palette. I asked the MA how exactly to wear the crazy silver color, and she said I could wear it all over the lid, with Carbon e/s in the outer-V to somke it out. I might have to try that one day. ;D I personally thought lightly layering the metallic shades over a dark color could look really pretty too, or maybe using it on the tearduct to create an interesting pop of color.

I wasn't a fan of the face kits since there would be one or two colors that I didn't like per kit. Smooth Harmony BP was quite orangey looking so I'm not sure how that would look on the face. I'm not a fan of lip palettes in general, but thought the brown-nude one was pretty. The lip bags were great though! Yes, both of them. I already have InSynch/BabySparks/MellowMood(which I just swapped away), so it didn't make sense to buy that one. I am totally digging the l/l from the Dazzle The Lads bag! I think it'll go well with all my peachy and coral lipsticks. Not crazy about the lipstick though, it was a weird frosty and dark plum-bronze-rose shade. Thank goodness for the l/l, because when the l/s is layered over it, it does somewhat lighten the color and make it a more wearable shade. To pay $70 for one lipliner, I don't think it's worth it, but we'll see...

Oh and I forgot to mention the brush sets! For the most part, quality of the bristles were much better than previous brush sets (but it depends on the particular brush as quality varies per brush). I personally thought the set that has the 129 and 168 in it had the best quality overall. HTH!

So I think I might just end up skipping MN and FC piggies and Cut a Caper and will hopefully end up buying the brush sets next month since money is a bit tight. Sigh.
Hopefully they won't run out of them because I *really* want to try the 227 and 168.
One thing I don't like are the bags they will come in lol.

i love the mailer too and it sucks that they dont just send them to all customers on their date base... but that would cost lots more money of course!

I don't think they even make these things in italy, but I'm curious, how do they choose the customers to send them to? (or the ones to invite to unveilings)
Is there anything like a "premium" customer or something?

I stopped by one of my local MAC stores last night and was treated to an unexpected look at the TT collection.

I have to say I wasn't very impressed with the collection at all.

I am most def. going to pass on this one.

The large brush bags are nice and the standalone make-up collection is great.

I liked the large size of the shadows and the dazzle glasses are beautiful as usual but this collection is a no go for me.

So much of it can be easily duped.

There wasn't anything special that called out to me.

Funny, I had not expected to get a peek at it but when I walked into the store
one of the MA's pointed to the back of the store and told me to go look and look I did.

Oh well maybe there will be something interesting in February's collections.

I got back from the Pro store a little while ago (I am exhausted. That was a journey!). I ended up with the 6 beauties and 6 twists of tartan palettes, Passing Fancy dg creme, Undercurrent and Black Swan pg's. I love, love, love Black Swan! It's a glossy, creamy black. I thought it would be boring, but far from it. Black Line is actually the one that bored me. It reminded me of French Quarter too much even though it's a bit more gold. It wasn't unique enough to me. Undercurrent is gorgeous, as everyone knows. I've never run out of a liner before, but I am considering backing these up, especially BS.

I got Passing Fancy because it's a really pretty, shimmer, soft coral. I want to use it to make Jazzed more wearable.

The eye palettes had me in the store for an hour! I kept swatching and swatching. If people had been watching me they would've thought I was insane. I kept walking around by the window, by the light just to get a real idea of how they look. Hell, that's $36! Hold My Gaze from 6 Beauties is amazing and worth the price alone. I also fell in love with Altered State(vp) and Magic Moor(vp).

I got Twists of Tartan mainly because the dark green color Bows and Curtsey's(s) is amazing. Never seen/had a green like it. I also adored High Spirits(f), which is the lighter green and Rolled Gold(l) which is like a dirty gold. I swatched it next to Goldmine(which I have) and they are quite different. I don't know what the hell I am going to do with the lightest color, Lady's Prance(m), but I'll figure it out. I also love that Vainglorious is more wearable to me than Antiqued. I am glad I didn't buy Vainglorious when it came out with Villains.

I almost bought Romancin' but I decided to wait. I may get it next week when the collection is really released. I decided to pass on the nail lacquers b/c I am wrapped up in China Glaze. Moonlight Night pigment is already gone! So, if you want that one you better be ON it when it hits online! I kept playing with FC pigment and I was underwhelmed. It would look nice with French Quarter gps, but it's not necessary.

The single shadows still were unimpressive. They felt nice, but they are similar to perm shadows by Mac. The lipsticks, again didn't move me either. I played with the lip kit that had Moth to Flame dg in it and In Synch liner. I LOVE the lipstick in that bag, but I already have MtF and I can't bring myself to buy it again. I also love Baby Sparks, but I am not interested in the lipstick in that bag b/c it's so darn sheer. Also, the liner that comes with it is so jarring.

I also swatched Violet pigment for the first time and it is amazing! What took me so long??? I will get this separately, though b/c I don't want the fluidline that comes with it. Oh and Layla, darling Violet is nothing like Push the Edge. If you don't have PtE already, get it!

I also wanted the teddy keychain, but that was sold out, too! So disappointed. I will buy it later. He is too cute.

On another note, I tried the water based mixing medium on my hand and it burned the hell out of me. And yeah, I made sure it was the water based one. I sniffed it and everything. It itched like crazy. I'm def over wanting that.
is FC more black than brown. I'm for some reason i'm thinking its going to look like mud on.

I really like those purple VPs in the beauties palette. Very deep and on the cool side. never really looked at that palette before now. i may haul that and the dashing palette. and that's its. we'll see, not rushing.

I don't think you'll have any trouble getting rid of the bag! I'm sure there are other people, like myself, who want the bag more than the products inside.

Well I know that I'm not interested in anything BUT the bag, haha. I'm sure there are others! You can always sell/swap online.

Well, if anyone is interested in either or both, let me know.

I showed Erin's swatches to my mom and she loved Lord it Up and told she's going to buy it.
I adviced how she better go the day it launches before they sell out and she wrote it on the mini calender on her desk... and then I told her how they were taking pre-orders and she looked at me and said "I can pre-order it, really? Even if it's just one item?"
My mom's too cute.

I accidently posted in the wrong thread but is anyone else having problems with using the search button on the MAC site? I was trying to search tartan and nothing happens. Tried other words and still nothing.

Yep, tried searching for several things last night but it wouldn't work for me either. :\
I even refreshed the page, hoping it was a glitch, but same... no search-age for me.

Thanks for posting the mailer photos, I love them!! I am on the MAC mailing list but I seem to receive their mailers on a really inconsistent basis (or they're just late). I just got the Haute Lash mailer a few weeks ago (!!). I love the main Tartan Tale photo of the frizzy redhead with her hair all wrapped up in tartan fabric. I would love an 8x10 or larger print of that one!
