One of the makeup artists on YouTube has a couple of the new Rouge Coco Shine colors - Evasion and Fetiche. Check out her video here, where she uses them in a tutorial (around 7 minutes in): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdt9JIhcvsA

Evasion looks so pretty!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but the Bay (in Canada) has the samples of Rouge Coco shine out for ppl to test and pre-order. They will started selling them on March 4th though. I was at the counter today and swatched them all. They're not my cup of tea, I like my lipsticks opaque and these are not it. They feel great and smooth (like a luxurious balm) though so if you like sheer products, go for it.

Outta the ones I tried Romance was my fave but didn't like it enough to warrant paying $44CAD for it :/ I rather pay that amount for another Rouge Allure or Rouge Allure Laque.

$44? That's about $6 more than the regular Chanel lipsticks!

I tend to prefer more opaque lipsticks as well and, honestly, at that price, I'd want them to be better than some of the semi-sheer Guerlain "B-series" Rouge G lipsticks which are lovely, last quite well and cost only a couple of dollars more.

Elegant.. Madere is slightly peachy... like the concealers with warm tones. It is also slightly pink.. like the concealers with cool tones. But, imo, it is like a concealer.. lol. You can put any colour gloss on top... it's still there underneath.

I know the CAD price is insane! That's what my SA told me....though she also knew I wouldn't like these since she knows bold lipsticks are more my cup of tea. I think I'm just gobba treat myself to another rouge allure next time I have Chanel lip craving, lol! Perhaps Aredent which was lovely on the last time I tried it at the counter

That is really strange. Boy Rouge Coco Shine was the exact same price as a Rouge Allure, Rouge Coco or Rouge Allure Laque here - all are $32. It's bad enough that they charge more in Canada given that the currency difference should favor you, but what's with pricing the products differently relative to each other in one country vs another?

It's frustrating, because there's frequent;y no correlation. Most people will just give you a "blah" about import taxes and shipping being more expensive (if they tell you anything at all), but I can't imagine it works out to that much per unit, when you think of how many you can ship in even a small box. I think that the main issue is that across-the-board prices changes are difficult to institute, so companies keep hoping that the CDN dollar will drop in value again. It's getting pretty tiresome.

If someone like Nordstrom were to drop their insane shipping costs to Canada, they could clean up. I heard somewhere that Canadians spend more on online shopping per capita than anywhere else in the world. (We don't like to go out in the cold.)

When I made my last purchase at Neiman Marcus last week the duty/taxes were back down to being 20%! That means only 7% more on top of the 13% tax we would pay anyways here so with the US/CDN Chanel price differences it is back to being a HUGE savings to order from Neiman Marcus. Better than that my Chanel SA in Ohio only has to charge me the 7.75 Sales tax they have there so it is a super duper huge savings. I will NEVER buy any of my Chanel in Canada. Sure supporting the Canadian economy would be nice but a) I hate the International e/s quad and JC formulas and b) I can't afford to throw $ away needlessly on their senseless, ridicuous price mark up here. GRRR

lol ...

ladies, welcome to world economics

I feel your pain, but that's the price paid for countries with socialized medicine and heavy duty SS programs. There is also the currency issue.. companies set their prices on a certain date, and if the currency ratio is not at the same level they have to frequently adjust it thus causing a lot of disparities.. cause they have to hedge bigger than the actual increases on the chance that the currency devalues vis a vis the currency of the exporting country.

Oh yeah so RC Shine for example $44 CDN plus 13% tax (for me in Ontario) = $49.72 for one flippin lipstick vs $32 US plus 20% duty and taxes = $38.40 US converts to YUP $38.40 CDN Our dollars are exactly equal today. Savings of $11.32 on one lipstick!!!!! If only NM would go back to all the time free ship on any purchase so we could order one lipstick at a time ;-) Or from my lovely SA at Macy's $32 plus 7.75% tax only $34.48. $15.24 difference!! I feel bad for Canadians out there paying these stupid Canadian prices

understood mrslid.. but how many Canadians are wanting to buy Chanel lipsticks. many countries have a huge tax (up to 30%) on "luxury" items.. and Chanel certainly classifies as luxury.

what you are mentioning is a small part of what I deal with in my work.. the forex exchanges and how they affect pricing of products and viability for mass sales..it's a rough world of money.

cosmetic companies deal with FUTURE prices of product based on the current currency exchange.. it is a very complex formula, and not all that effective because so many things can affect currency rates.

breathe in.. I am only one of many messengers. Don't shoot me.

LOL I won't shoot you HG. I understand what your saying it is just frustrating sometimes. Especially when there are a lot of luxury brands that due have quite similar Canadian pricing. Our dollars have been almost par for quite a while now and we are neighbours so I can't help but get frustrated over the price differences and even the inability to access certain brands that we have when everything is soooo close. I know there are others that have it a heck of a lot worse than us in this regard and I am very happy and proud to be Canadian...I'll just continue to be a traitor and buy US when I can so I can get as many goodies as possible

I know the CAD quite well mrslid.. I trade it all the time.. but currency is not the only issue for pricing.. you would have to be familiar with bilateral treaties, GATT and many ICC requirements in order to go get your pistola.. lol

buying Chanel (it's a french company) is not being a traitor to Canada.. but not buying Chanel is a capital crime..
