MAC Posh Paradise Discussion

I've always felt that paint pots and paints were especially meant to be used as shadows, but people just like to use them as bases as well.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Genuine Treasure is not a glittery mess!

From the swatches these definitely look more like they are meant to be used as cream eye shadows and not just bases.
None of them are initially wow-ing me - but maybe more swatches/reviews will change that. I'm more excited about the ones Shiseido is launching. The formula/texture sounds more modern to me.

Me too. But then I heard people were using them as bases so I kind of started using them that way too. For the most part they're versatile enough to be used both ways. I love Paint Pots!

As you have a great tan, you can really rock a blue p/p and then tone it up or down with an e/s, MES, or piggie.

you two are EVIL ahahah ^^ I have old gold pigment... I don't know if it could work....and dalliace mega metal!... mmm we'll see!

Same here! I know I started wearing paint pots as bases because they were the only things that kept my oily lids in check and kept eye shadows from dissappearing. The first ones I got were from the Fafi line and I fell in love.

Heehee! My first 2 were Indianwood and Delft and I don't quite remember how I wore Indianwood but I'm pretty sure I wore Delft alone as a shadow. They're great and I can't wait for these new ones! Can't wait! They look so vibrant! Which ones did you get from Fafi? I only got Nice Vice and Rollickin.

I am dissapointed by the swatches of treasure hunt and genuine treasure, which sucks b/c those are 2 that I really wanted based on the description.

Do paint pots work well as an eyeliner?

They don't make nice smooth lines like a gel liner but they can be very nice in a smudgy or soft sort of way. They also make a nice base if you want to use a powder shadow as a liner. They have different textures and levels of pigmentation so you need to try each shade individually.

firstly MAC-GUY you were right re: when we see swatches!!! so my apologies :)

On the other topic of temptalia/reviews in 1 day.
I think she has set up her rating system to allow for that.
she is swatching products in order to see how they apply and any properties she finds to be better/ worse than a regular, I believe that she has nutted out the mac products well enough to know where the bar is set at.......
does this make any sense????
Thanks, hun :)

Rare Exotic
Half Wild
Imaginary
I just hope I won't want more mattenes once swatches come out. I've turned into a lip product-holic.

Do you have a good link talking about the Shiseido ones?
Here is a blog post with several swatches of the Shiseido shimmer cream shadows - it looks like they may be more like the Big Bounce ones than Paint Pots. Only a couple of the Shiseido colors really look exciting to me though.
http://rougedeluxe.blogspot.com/2011/07/shiseido-shimmering-cream-eye-colors.html

I'll definitely be trying the PP. I too, hope they sheer out a bit from what we've seen so far. But I'm glad MAC went outside the color box a bit with these. I am especially interested in Imaginary.
Now hurry up with the Mattene swatches. I will probably be buying all or most of the Mattenes.

Thanks for posting a link to the Shiseido "p/p." It's nice to see that they have a variety of colors.

I guess it's only if you are a pro member.. Sorry.. I didn't realize it's pro members only right now. That really sucks for any non pro members. But for all pro member you can shop the collection now online or at pro stores is what I'm thinking.

Cosmetic companies prefer, well LOVE, blogs as opposed to forums because they have are able to control the blogger. It's unspoken, but it's there. There are a good number of bloggers who want their blog to be successful, make money and receive samples. In fact, a lot of bloggers depend on this relationship for a living. If a blogger starts to get a bit too negative too often with a certain cosmetic co, the cosmetic co PR folks will start to get stingy with samples, press releases and hold back info. Then the blog lags behind in info and popularity, looses readers and eventually looses money. Back to that control element, most of the big bloggers approve all of the comments posted on their site. In other words, they pick and chose whose voice gets to be heard. Blogs are a lot like reality TV, as in it's ALL EDITING. They decide what opinions and comments about a certain cosmetic company's products get heard.
I am not saying that all blogs are like this. Not by any means. You can tell which ones are, though. I could absolutely call someone out here, but I will bite my tongue. I love to support those who do it for the love of it.

Cosmetic companies don't tend to embrace forum boards because there is too much freedom to express dissenting opinions. Blogs, on the other hand can be sculpted into what is essentially a commercial for the cosmetic companies (if the blogger chooses to take it in that direction). I prefer forum-based sites like Specktra for that very reason. I have always had a great appreciation and fondness for MAC, but when they piss me off, I say something and on Specktra I can do that.
Jen i freaking love you.

This is why I also prefer forums - I can voice my real opinion here and nobody can censor or control me. And of course I write the Specktra blog, but I can honestly say that i'm an honest person. All the reviews I do are my own thoughts - no bs - just reviews that hopefully tell you everything you want to know about the product.

Oh liba when you say you hope some of the paint pots can be sheered out - I hope that you can too. I guess with a light hand and fluffy brush this could be possible :)
