MAC Posh Paradise Discussion

OK, I'm not paranoid (or am I?
lmao.gif
) But I have a theory on this "restocking"!

It would have made absolutely no sense for MAC to release limited edition items knowing that they could still make more money by having more stock...
So, perhaps, they have 100 Half-Wild pp (an example!) and they release 60% of the stock at first- knowing that ebay sellers, hoarders and people that keep up with the release dates of new collections will buy right away. Then, a few days later they release the other 40% for late comers and people that are not "always in the know".

I say this, because when the Bloggers collection sold out, and was restocked all of my "new" items were with the old date on them

So, it's not like they are feverishly making new product, they are just holding on to some at the beginning....

Urban Decay likes to do the same thing. Remember when BOS III sold out in 10-12 minutes? It's LE, but they restocked and still in stock... even though BOS IV is now out.

I think your right! Another reason behind this "restocking" is to build up hype on products. Sell a few so that the products sell out fast, then those who own the products will post swatches and rave reviews, thus making people run about going from mac counters to stores looking for these items. The ones that find them are the "lucky" ones, then later they'll release the rest of the batches online to bring in more revenue (the reason I say online is because usually when things are sold out in stores they really are gone and I once heard that in some states mac counters let alone stores are hard to come by so for some online is the only way they get their hands on MAC).

Oh and one more thing sometimes there are items that sell out and are not "restocked". I think this once again is for hype; I think the people at MAC HQ know what items will be popular thus they sell limited quantities so that they can re-release these items in later collections. A few examples are lollipop loving, strange potion, saint germain (before it became permanent) and the infamous 226.

Can anyone tell me if Treasure Hunt is in any way similar to Urban Decay Greed Primer Potion? Is it worth getting TH if I own Greed? Thanks!

Eh...Greed is a lighter gold than TH. But the biggest difference will be in the texture. Also, TH has a thicker shimmer texture.

I don't need Potent Fig...

Gah! The mattenes just wear so well! Smooth and light. I'm really loving Rare Exotic. I was worried that a matte finish would make my lips look dry, but it really doesn't. Plus my hair doesn't stick to my lips like with glosses!

Idyllic is so pretty with Coppering, Cranberry, Star Violet or Expensive Pink on top of it! Glad I picked this baby up.

Everyone's saying the mattenes are creamy smooth and light, but I find the ones that I own (Potent Fig, Night Violet, and the black one) to be wayyy too drying, and they settle into lines really bad. If I remove and try to reapply, it goes all chunky. They go on nice, but as soon as they've dried down, prune lips..

Any application tips? Should I try a primer? I've tried using liner, using clear liner, applying with a brush, applying from the tube, blotting, etc..

How is the general condition of your lips?

Hi guys! For those who have both, does MAC's Chili and Legendary look similar? Because I have Chili, and it already looks pretty similar to Revlon's Toast of NY.... What do you think?

Hey guys, no one has really said this from what I've seen. I just got my Half Wild pp in the mail this morning. When I swatched it, I noticed it is much drier than all my other paint pots. Is this normal?

I should mention that my top was cracked. I did call MAC and they are sending me another one, but I wanted to see if this was normal for Half Wild.

i kept meaning to post about this....i've found most of mine are unusually stiff for p/ps. The only one I have that's really creamy is Genuine Treasure. I thought maybe it was because they're all so highly pigmented - that could make them stiffer and drier - so please let us know if your replacements are better.

Thanks! You're always answering my questions :) That does make sense, though. I may head to MAC tomorrow so I might play with their tester since I'll be there anyway.

I'll be sure to let you know if my replacement is better. I'm not saying the one I have now is bad, but it's definitely less creamy than the others I own.

I wore Genuine Treasure with universal mix pigment on top. very pretty. I usually have used my finger to apply the cream shadows my MUfe. What brush is good to apply pp to lids? Or just use your finger too?

I posted some application opinions earlier. First off, for sure if you're using lip balm first, make sure it's really absorbed into the lips before applying the mattenes. I'm not a big fan of applying lip balm underneath Mattenes, though, and for sure don't bother with lip pencil. A primer that forms a smooth second skin over your lips could probably give you good results, though, just as long as you really let it set well first.

Then, what I do is apply one medium layer from the tube, keeping my lips good and stretched, making sure not to go back over areas I already covered. For Potent Fig, Seeds of Desire and the style black ones, you just have to be brave and do that one layer and let it dry down allllll the way. They look really patchy but then smooth out and look fine once they dry down. It's a little bit of a pain, because if you even close your lips, they won't dry down smoothly - you have to let them set with your lips slightly parted or else you get a patch on the lower lip where the coverage rubs off before it sets, then you're stuck adding another layer and that's when they get all crumbly and settling into lip lines and feel too drying.

3 minutes of sitting still with your mouth hanging open like a porn star may or may not be worth the dark loveliness of the super dark mattenes, but that plus applying one even layer on faith are the two big hurdles. I think it's totally worth it, but then again I love Mattenes.
