I have a question I hope HG or one of our other resident experts can shed some light on. When EL develops a new technology does it eventually show up in all of their lines? I loved the EL Modern Mercury hybrid highlighter from their fall collection. I recently picked up 2 of their new "cyber" shadows which seem to be the same sort of hybrid formula (powder/gel) and I love these as well (especially Cyber Lilac and Cyber Green which actually looks more like a blackened green with gold). I would love to see something from MAC in this formula but with some of their offbeat colors.
hope I can help April. When EL develops a new technology like the Modern Mercury, it is registered and for proprietary use by EL the mama ship.. not for use by other companies. They may share formulae/tech somewhat, but not the exact formulations. Each company has their own production and creative teams.
I have all the Cyber ES.. and find them to be spectacular and the future for powder Es in future. The Highliter was also a sell out and is also going to influence products for the face (the tribrid gel/cream/powder formula)... I highly doubt that MAC will dupe the formula and be able to sustain prices as EL can command a higher price for new products.
too, the Creative Director (Tom Pecheux ) is another creative genius and will not be happily sharing formulas for other lines who although owned by the same company do not pay him his fees... these people are quite jealous of their creations.. as well they should be...and Pecheux is turning the old image of EL around.
