Dior Cosmetics Discussion

Enjoy Nocturne! I was searching for a plummy lipstick last night and I realised I only have Antigone. I wanted Rivoli from chanel long ago but never got down to buying it. Yeah I told the manager on the phone that. In fact I had to call the corporate office myself to get in touch with the manager because she was not at the counter on Monday as what the SA told me. At least I got a new compact, so I would continue to buy Dior if anything catches my eyes! If they made me mad I'll boycott them, like I do for Benefit, though I was tempted to try the They're Real! mascara.
I hope she was at least nice. Nocturne is a really nice shade, but I think due to the gold shimmer a very wintery/festive shade. So I wear it quite a bit atm before it gets too warm ;) Benefit is a brand I think a bit boring anyways, so I am sure you are not missing too much.

I bought Cinderella as a little christmas gift for myself, and I swatched Nocturne again and compared with other plums or raspberry colour and nocturne is totally unique. It isn't that red or plum, but more pink compared to the other shades. I thought of it that night and should have gotten it instead. I wore cinderella and it's not terribly drying but not moisturizing enough for me.

Swatches of the Garden Pastels quint which I love from the promo pics.

As I was worried, it looks rather frosty. I would have to see this in person to decide, but the 3 lighter shades look almost identical, like the typical Dior white frost shade of which I already have too many.

Dear Dior
have you ever heard of words matte or satin?

I dont know why I was hoping the yellow shade will be glowy satin yellow.

On the side note

I stoped by the Dior counter yesterday and figured while I was there to ask about the Waterlily nailpolish, just in case, many brands are already having spring collections.

So I asked if by any chance they already have the green nail polish (I knew I would overwhelm them if I ask if they have Waterlily) and all I got was blank stares. They didnt even have any clue there is green nailpolish about to come out any minute. Really? So the SAs are actually seeing and hearing about new stuff for first time once they are unpacking the merchandise in the store or until some customer fills them in?

And it is one thing if they dont know (but really they should know about what's in spring already, it is not insider info anymore) but other things is when they are acting like I am making stuff up.

Yeah, I made up the green polish as I made up the Jeans de Chanel polishes of what I was accused in the same store earlier.

End or rant, sorry.

^^ Thanks for the link to the swatch. It looks very frosty like you said. I don't wear greens much so I'm passing for sure, but I don't like the frosty dior eyeshadow quints too. Sorry you had to deal with the ignorance and poor attitude of the staff. Usually the same thing happens at the counters across all brands in my country, unless I'm speaking to a more senior staff eg the makeup artists or managers. When I exchanged my diorskin nude compact, the manager was telling me about the spring collection and what palettes they have and so on, so she clearly knows her work. If you are thinking of passing Dior, Lancome is having a green np for spring too, so perhaps you can check it out, unless Lancome staff aren't welcoming too. For me Lancome is even more challenging as sometimes there are no displayers for new collections, and the counter actually hides the new makeup and testers in drawers. If I ask them about it, they may whip it out and show it to me. Other times my counters don't get the entire Lancome collections.

Hope you still like Cinderella.

So you are the one that makes up collections and brings them into existence by just asking questions? you are a magician! ;) Really sucks that SA are sometimes so clueless and take it out on customers instead checking documentation etc. I cannot believe that the Dior SAs had no training/info whatever before. Also agree on the shimmery eyeshadows, not really my colors either, I prefer smokey eyes atm.

Miss QQ

thanks for the Lancome info. I will check it out.

I liked the Dior because it is supposed to be scented with I believe rose scent and last up to 4 days. I love light rose scents.

I might go check out another Dior counter, perhaps at Saks or Bergdorf.

Ikram - Yes I think Waterlily is scented. I love rose scents too, in makeup products. Not so much in skincare or perfumes. Here is a review of the spring blush. It has the same transparent packaging as Diorskin Nude, which mine broke after a month. If you can make Dior change their packaging, it will be great! I don't like their packaging for most of their products. Their compacts, dior addict lipsticks and lipgloss..

bis - Thanks, I'm going to wear the shade more before deciding. It is a wearable pink and does not need a lot of work, which is always a good thing.

Yes I am. What would you like seeing next from Dior??? I can make up for you. :eyelove:
Uh, I need to sleep it over. But I am seeing endless possibilities there ;)

True, sometimes you need a color that you can just put on without thinking too much.

I bought the little Milly Garden clutch and I actually gasped when I opened it. Not only is the packaging beautiful, the colors inside are pretty and ones I will wear. A nice little collector's item to boot ;).

i am still anxiously awaiting the blush!

Yesterday I received the 2 quints, 2 lipsticks and 2 glosses. Where can I buy the blush in the US? It doesn't seem to be up on the Dior website yet. I haven't decided on the clutches. Pretty, but can we use the clutches at all after the product is used up for anything?

Let me know what you think of the quints. I am loving the rose design, but I also really need pigmented products, not just pretty designs. (oh who am i kidding, i buy stuff for the design all the time!). I am especially considering the purple one.

FYI Toronto girls - I picked up the Deluxe Holiday palette for $58 at The Bay (Queen St) today! Plus she let me use my Beauty Rewards coupon/card, even though technically it's not supposed to be on this week, but I guess it's flexible. So I got it for $48 instead of the regular price of $90! They had tons left. It would be worth checking out your Dior counter no matter where you live. I wish I had asked if the rest of the collection is on sale. They just put out the spring collection - I'll be back for the two quints later for sure!

I love those swatches, thank you for the link! Next time I even THINK of buying a MAC quad, I am going to go and get a Dior quint instead. There e/s are so buttery in texture. Never mind if they have shimmer.

One of the counters near me has this collection out now. The quints are very pretty and the quality- particularly on Garden Pastels- is excellent, but, yes, they are pretty frosty. Tulip Pink is a very pretty, wearable shade, although it doesn't strike me as tremendously original. Dior does those sort of soft, universally flattering pinks better than anyone, I think. The other one was cooler and had less colour payoff, but would certainly be appropriate for someone who doesn't like a lot of colour (or opaque colour) on their lips. Unfortunately, they didn't have the blush... Dang. So far, the item that really tempts me is the Waterlily n/p. Think I'll cave for that one, especially since I don't have any Dior polishes.

^^ Enjoy! I love both the nps, but I didn't buy them.

The quints are very frosty but very pretty and the texture feels almost cream-like. There are 2 trios too, the smoky purple and smoky green (LE). Both are very beautiful, and I'm very tempted to buy the green one.

Unless Dior has really stepped up their game in the NP department, I would find a dupe in a brand like OPI or China Glaze. The last Dior polish I tried was a gorgeous color but it took 3 coats to build any opacity and chipped like crazy!
