Lady Danger is a bit more orange than Scarlet Ibis, but they are really similar.

It makes me wonder if MAC actually changed the formula or if it's just the "Flamingo fluke"...

Take it from me, the gal who went totally coo coo for cocopuffs insane over the lustres from Semi-Precious, they've definitely been re-jiggering it. Flamingo just takes it to the next level, as it's got everything those do, plus the build-ability of the color is even better - you can do one, two or even 3 layers and not get patchiness or other weirdness and still maintain the staying power.

My guess is when they designed the Supreme Sheen formula base suspension, they rolled in a version with a firmer consistency suitable for pressing into a standard bullet shape. Also, and this is probably the biggie - now that the tech to do much more finely milled pigments is pretty much firmly established, you can do lighter, sheerer formulas that build properly, because the pigment particles can be suspended in the base much more evenly (due to the finer milling). Put the two together and voila! a Lustre that isn't waxy and that builds and has staying power. I love technology!!! Heck, that's why I got back into makeup - it was a whole new ballgame compared to the last time I'd be buying things regularly.

I used to hate Lustres on me, but now it's honestly the best texture MAC is doing, no matter how thrilled I am with the current new mattes and satins.

Did you get any of the SP ones, like One of a Kind or Gem of Roses or Lush Amber? As much as I like Flamingo, I'm still much more crazy about GoR and One of a Kind, just because they work a little better with my coloring and age - in fact, One of a Kind has turned out to be one of my all-time ultimate MLBB colors - it's so sexy. GoR is equally effortless for me.

There's no denying Flamingo is unique, but it makes me wish I was a 20 year old NW fair-haired girlie. The only look I can really do with it is to go totally 1965 retro with extra defined brows and cats eye liner. It's not a toss it on and run out of the house color for me - Party Parrot and Scarlet Ibis are better for that, because I can skip the eye makeup if I want.

yes the new mattes are fabulous too! mac has upped their game so i hope that all lustres will be like flamingo then. i didn't buy any of the sp ones because usually lustres don't do it for me!

I wish I could get hold of Party Parrot. I did get it with the order I placed the day it came out here in the UK, but when it arrived, it had a very odd smell and taste to it, as if it had gone off. I loved the colour, though. I phoned MAC (as it was no longer available online) and they said they would send me a new one out, but when it didn't arrive I phoned them again and they told me they hadn't been able to send it as it was sold out, even though they'd assured me it was in stock and they were sending me one.

They've refunded me, but I'm still without Party Parrot I don't want to have to pay ebay prices for it

I've seen pics of Force of Love (on the S3/C3 thread) that looked a LOT like Party Parrot, so perhaps you will have the next best thing come March!

I bought all of the eye shadows from this collection when it first came out. I've only tried Silver Gull and Hozwat so far.... but I wasn't very impressed by either. They were kinda hard to work with. :\

I didn't find them so hard to work with. The weren't like Matte2 or anything, but over a PP they showed color fine and didn't migrate too much. I am just happy if I can get true to pan color and minimal creasing. I used a CS badger brush and they were not chalky or anything. I would not say they were like BUTTER or anything, but they are still better than most e/s out there at that price. They are still less expensive than Urban Decay singles or most dept store line singles...

Liba, I go all soft inside when you talk like that. And I was just getting to the point of being able to skip lipsticks because I was telling myself Lustre finish just doesn't pan out in terms of pigmentation, now I can't rule them out. I actually really like Lustre as a concept, and if the pigmentation is more buildable, then the flamingo fluke is a welcome lustre phenom.
