I haven't tried Dear Diary on yet b/c I'm sick but it makes my Impassioned seem dull in comparison lol. I compared it to GAT and Impassioned and it's in a class of it's own. I am happy about that. I don't have CYY to compare it to tho.

Like some others I am disappointed about the quality of the liners. They are such pretty colors! I know, it's just makeup, but from a consumer perspective, companies should put out quality products; ESPECIALLY when all they do is introduce new products, formulas, and colors on a regular basis. Bottom line they should be a pro at this. If you are willing to work with the liners, thats great, but the question is, should you have too?

depends on your philosophy...if you really like a color or a product and you are willing to spend the time to get it to work, then you will make it work. if you just want to go straight out of the packaging and go for easy application, then you are probably not going to want to spend the time it takes or the experimentation to get it to work. MAC is used by a lot of artists who have the time and techniques to figure out the issues. for your around the way girl who wants to get her face on and get out of the house, they are going to be disappointed in some products, but that is whats great about the range of products in the MAC line IMHO--there are products for everyone. even those doggone big bounce shadows ended up being useful. I think it is more about knowing before you buy what the product will and won't do. and if it isn't suited for what you want it to do with the effort you are willing to put into the application, then skip and next...

This was well said!! And you hit the nail on the head gal! All I did was use a paint pot as a base for Beth Mask... if that's considered as working hard to make something work then I really don't know what to say. <3

Did the paint pot eliminate the tugging feeling that people have reported? Or do you not apply it straight out of the tube and use a brush instead? I have no interest in buying them (nor did I before all the bad reviews), but I'm just curious.
EDIT - nvm about the brush question, I realized I could just scroll back and read your FOTD info. I'm still curious if the PP's eliminate tugging

The general consensus here is that these shadow/liner things are too much hassle. Now Karen didn't really mention that she had a problem with them other than the dryness and tugging. What works for one does not necessarily mean it will work for all, just like what it easy for me may not be easy for the next. This did make me chuckle a bit

I am willing to work for a product and I definitely agree that everything isn't for everybody. I skipped this collection but gave some positive feedback, cool colors, bad formula. Bad formula just isn't for me. I not trying to discount makeup artists or anyone else who is willing to work with different products. I mean really? MUAs will mix foundation and pull blushes out of a hat if need be... I get that part of the artistry. I am just coming from a consumer perspective which in a retail sense means something when a high volume of your buyers are non professionals who look to the web for reviews and product swatches. The reviews arent good and consumers want good products for the price, MAC is coming up a little shabby in that department right now and they should to listen to the online feedback and try to come with something better. A makeup artist willing to work with a product and everything isn't for everybody are totally different from a company putting out products that don't work well.

Nope, I had no issues with tugging... the skin on eyelids is super sensitive! So applying something like Beth Mask to bare eyelid skin is going to result in tugging.. I'm over the whole issue of does it work or not. I already proved my point.... a base and a 217 brush will eliminate any issues.. it really can't get any simpler than that. I didn't buy anything from this collection and I won't.. Everything I received was in gratis. To me, the less effort you put into your makeup application the uglier the results.. just my opinion. <3

I only got another back up of Embrace Me with this collection. I swatched everything yesterday and the only thing that i liked was Dear Diary. But i'm skipping that (at least trying to) because i will get CYY back ups later on. The liner/shadow sticks felt dry and the colours just didn't look nice to me when swatched. The TTP powder also didn't seem great. I expected the blue and yellow to be more pigmented and have a nicer texture. Mac could have done much better with this collaboration in my opinion. I'm very dissapointed with this collection, but at least it makes saving money a bit easier.

i feel sorry for those of you that have to rely on swatches because stores are not available to you. also thanks to everyone in this forum for swatches and recommendations. Make-up artists and info people like Mac-guy, Papparazzi boy, liba, lou, Bee. etc

She's done this many times before sadly. Love her swatches but I can't take it seriously sometimes when she gives an obvious A product a B or C and then turn around and give an overpriced, colorless item an A. At some point people need to take her reviews into consideration and not strickly as gospel....I especially learned that the hard way!im soo mad at all the bloggers talking crap about mac just because of this collection and how tired they are and blah blah blah. yes this was a bad collection and probably and hopefully the worst of the year, but lets not forget that this has been a really good year for mac. the lipsticks, quads, mineralized eyeshadows and blushes have been awesome. i honestly dont give a thing about their reviews and grades or even swatches. i have enough with this forum and the people in it that are actual makeup artist and buy stuff with their own damn money like i do. temptalia for example hates reviewing mac, no wonder the company sends her the stuff late now. the last lipsticks from shop cook and reel sexy were given a b+. and we all know how good those were. yesterday i saw a review of a cleu de peau lipstick of $60 get an A. like WTF , that was honestly my reaction. i feel like she reviews mac just to get people into her blog, if she so damn hates it then she should just tell the company that she is not reviewing their products anymore because they "suck and are garbage" like she stated in her last copy and paste review . OMG they dont even send her the info, which she has to get from here.

kimibos - thanks for the shout out! It's fun for me to have somewhere to go on about makeup at, with so many nice folks. I know that if I had to rely only on swatches online, I probably would just not buy much of anything at all, so if any of my rants can help people out, great! LOL, lord knows if everyone didn't treat me as well as they do at my MAC store, I would probably buy a whole lot less too.
