Here is a very positive review about the collection, in particular the shadow/liner sticks: http://misssugarshack.squarespace.com/ (in German, I believe the blogger lives in the Netherlands - I might be wrong).

I've only ever returned one MAC product -- mother and husband bought me the same lipstick -- but I would not feel bad at all returning a product of poor quality.

From what i understand she lives in Rotterdam, but lived in germany before. I'm still not buying the shadow/liner sticks, but it's nice that at least some are liking them. BTW why are you suddenly in Berlin? Sorry if you already told or if it's none of my business.

I went in to Bloomingdales early this morning to have a look at this collection. I came away with Dear Diary and the face/eyeshadow powder. I thought 'why the hell not?' in regards to the powder. I was the first to touch it and it looked all funky. I swatched it and was intrigued, so I bought it. The mua who sold it to me was wearing the yellow shade on her lid and brown in the crease. It looked damn nice to me. Dear Diary isn't something I needed. I'm over pink and I probably should've went with the orange shade, but it's still pretty nice. I tested Dear Diary on my lips, weary of this formula. Glad to say, it works on me just fine. I wore it for a couple of hours and it didn't turn crazy on me. I might just go back for that orange shade. Now, the face powder...I actually like it. I didn't get to try it on my face yet because I was wearing blush, but I tried it on my eyes. I threw the yellow on the inner lid, brown on the outer lid and the blue in the crease. I tried it over foundation instead of primer and I liked it. It was a soft look. It'll probably be a bit stronger with primer, of course, but I was still pleasantly surprised. I don't think I'll mix them all together and get that brown shade on my face. I will use the dots for my eyes and a contour brush to pick up the pink and try that on my face. Maybe tomorrow and I'll report back on how that goes. Even though I like it, I'm still floored by the price. Sheesh. I didn't buy any of the shadow liners. I was tempted just to see if I wanted to punch myself in the face later, but I decided against it. I think it was the blue one that swatched the best. One of them went on incredibly dry and I had to press hard. All of them, though after a couple of minutes looked kinda wrinkly on my hand. No thanks. Check out the Beth powder before you actually pass it up. That's my advice.

I don't feel remotely bad about returning a product I consider to be sub-standard or that is a mismatch when a MUA recommended it. Why would I? I spend a ton on MAC (we all do) and they have a return policy for a reason. I returned a couple of foundations because the first one broke me out and the second didn't even come close to matching my skin tone (and I was swatched by their own MUA).

Now, when I purchased a lip glass that I decided I didn't really like on me, I just gave that away. That's easily done with a lippie or e/s; finding someone else who matches a foundation that the MUA insisted wasn't too dark isn't as easy and quite frankly I don't see it as my problem to solve. They have a return policy for a reason.

My own fave MUA at MAC told me that if a product doesn't work for me, they WANT me to return it. I've bought dozens of products from him and never returned a thing. He knows very well that I don't buy scads on impulse and then decide I don't want or can't afford it and return it. I'm not going to let the fact that some abuse the return policy prevent me from making appropriate use of it.

shontay - do you think some of the colours in the face powder have dupes in the perm collection (from point of view of eyeshadows)?

Aradhana, You might find a dupe for the orange/terracotta shade. Perhaps Rule might be it, but it's still not the completely the same. You might be better off going through your LE eyeshadows. The yellow is like a softer Sun Blonde and the blue is a softer and well, more blue version of Surf USA. That's the closest thing I got. Maybe you have to go outside of Mac to find a really good dupe. Also, I read on T that it's frustrating as a shadow b/c of the dust that kicks up when using it as a shadow. Well, if you're not going at the powder hardcore, this shouldn't be a problem. Yes, you kick up more product with this than a usual shadow/blush, but try and pat your brush instead of sweeping. I used a 217 anyway to do my eye. I figured it would be best. If you get a little blue powder on the yellow just lightly blow it off (omg that seems so simple that I'm laughing about the 'frustration' of it all. Sorry).

I personally don't think there's one definitive source; I always check multiple blogs. I rely most on T's; she takes great shots, lists dupes, isn't afraid to dig into a product (literally), tests products over several hours and has colouring very close to mine. I don't always agree with her opinions, but that's ok. I don't take anyone's as gospel. I do like that she's not a rabid MAC fangirl who thinks that MAC can do no wrong and that every product is wonderful and that if there's an issue, it must be user error. I love MAC, but every company has some products that are weaker than others.

I like this board because the people are friendly, there are lots of different opinions, I like seeing how others use products and it's fun to get excited for new collections together. :)

I usually read as many reviews for a product as I can find when I'm considering it. I really like everyday full face looks and arm swatches showing a product against other colours. Lots of bloggers and members here do that and it's really helpful.

One negative review wouldn't sway me. When a whole bunch of people dislike a product, I think there's likely a reason for it and I'd be likely to test it out personally before ordering if I was interested (I'm not referring to this collection, just speaking generally).

with you, Audrey C! It's like you read my mind. LOL I appreciate all the reviews and swatches here and at other sites. They help me tremendously. I usually read as many reviews as I can find when I'm interested. In the end, I make my own decisions after swatching them, but I still love having general ideas of the products before hitting the store.

I saw the collection this morning. I didn't get anything as I didn't have much time at the store. (I only got Cleanse Off Oil and Weekend Getaway from Casual Colour.) I don't feel like I buy a lot from this collection because I hardly wear nail polishes and eyeshadows (call me crazy! LOL). I'm also not a fan of Pro Longwear Lipcremes. To The People looked interesting, but IDK. I may go back and see this and Casual Colour collection again tomorrow.

Here's my swatch of DD and CYY. I'm NC10-15/MUFE 117. To me DD has a fuchsia tinge and CYY is just pink, and DD is darker and not as neon.

Thanks shontay!

i thought you might say chrome yellow and electric eel... i have sun blonde and surf usa, but i guess they are probably different finishes.

I really like what I've seen of the powder (mind you haven't seen it irl), but funds are a little tight, so i'm trying to hold off/forego... i don't mind the finickyness of the intricate colour arrangement, i don't really think it's meant to be treated as a regular 'palette', especially since the colours look interesting when they are blended together. i have an eyeshadow from vincent longo that is split in three - olive, fucshia and mustard...it's absolutely beautiful worn separate or blended.

the part that interests me most about the powder is the colour you get when they're all swirled together, so maybe i won't be able to completely skip. if it's still hanging around online next month and i'm still lemming it i might go for it!

It might well be around next month. That's the bright side of a bad T review :)

thanks for posting the video!

i like the look they did better in the video than i did in the promo pic...i usually don't particularly care for the behind the scenes videos, but this one's an exception...

it didn't make me want to run out and buy anything from the collection, but it's definitely inspiring to see what they did...

i have a lot of problems with shadesticks, which normally work well for people, so i've stayed away from the shadow/liner things. but...beth mask looks like a really nice colour combo, so i might try to dig out some shadows to give me that look!
See, I thought people hated/could live without the shadesticks...at least that was what I generally read. Which is why I won't and haven't touched the shade liners, plus my eyelids are kinda funky so it seems pointless to me! I agree about beth mask...must find shadow dupes.

I went to the pro store yesterday during lunch and I was surprised that I actually liked the powder. I thought it was going to be a skip for me but I figured I'd test it out. When the bf saw it he was convinced that I only bought it because I'm addicted to polka dots

I just appreciate all of the beauty bloggers including T who put so much time and effort into their sites & reviews. Do I agree with every review? No of course not. But I consider all of it a great resource. Just like I appreciate all of the opinions, reviews, swatches, looks, etc posted on this forum.

After all I am a working mom with small sons (all under the age of 10), and any tips that I can get about how too look better/less tired/younger are greatly appreciated. LOL

What did you get so far?
It just launched here yesterday so I am just planning on getting dd since I am interested in picking up a few of the casual colours and I want to try and keep as much of my beauty budget for heavenly creatures...but I might end up caving and getting new hue mascara too!
