Bright Moon with a lot of the aqau color, Magnetic Attraction (it isn't my favorite but it is unique), and Water with not a lot of yellow but a lot of the blue and shimmey mint color.

Earthy is my favorite but it is pretty dupable or has a lot of similar everyday colors close to it, my second fav is Invincible Light, but it too is not a crazy unique color. It is an everyday highlight color with some shimmer.
I do have to try earthly, I haven't tried it at all. And water and Bright moon looked a bit ashy, oh well it looks like I am leaving the mall with nothing. Thanks for the suggestions I think I'll come back tomorrow and maybe try the others.

I tried Neo Nebula and it is super light and I feel that the pink in the fashion patch quad from the Color craft collection is a close pink since it swatches so light, unfortunately I don't have it with me to compare and I definitely do not do blue. Magnetic attraction I like, but now after reading temptalia's reviews of these I'm feeling like maybe I should just go ahead and pass on them. I think I like this collection so much that I am trying to justify getting the shadows.

Unfortunately, T hates mineralise collections - she said so herself in the review video of HC :( Maybe you could try one MES and see? Obviously they are not to everyone's liking so I don't want you to spend your money and then not like them!
Also, I think MA would look absolutely STUNNING on you!

I think that if you've tried MA and like it, you should get it. I've found that MES is one of those hit or miss products. Some people love them, others don't. Just BC it didn't work for T (or others) doesn't mean it won't work for you. if you have the time to make them work, they'll look great. I'm still iffy on them myself, but I'm enjoying the learning process.

Have you got your HC goodies yet??
Yep! Got all the MSF's bar Earthshine, MES's - Neo Nebula, Bright Moon, Magnetic Attraction and Universal Appeal. l/s Cut a Caper and Venus and l/g Meteoric! And the VAE of course, couldn't pass up on that! Really happy with everything that I got:) I've loved everything I've worn so far, it's such a great collection! Between this and Hey Sailor my MAC collection has increased quite a bit haha

Thanks! And I know what you both mean, I usually don't take everything she says to heart but she does tend to be right a lot. OAN I actually found a great look for MA on youtube and I think I'm going to try it out tomorrow, if it works out I'll definitely post pics!

Love the swirls. I'm proud of myself for not being tempted into buying any of the blushes... even though you ladies are making it super hard to resist with all the nice pictures.

Here's a pretty decent checklist to decide if MES are your kind of eye shadow or not:

Q: Do you like to apply and wear shadows that go on very pigmented and then get blended out OR do you prefer shadows that you need to apply in layers and build up the color?

MES look much better when you do a thin layer and then another layer or so on top. Also, I find that most MES don't blend well into each other or into other shadows for that perfect, watercolor effect - lots of blending down can make them look muddy (they've gotten much better in this department, though). You have to layer them into other shadows for the best look or go for simple washes of color.

Q: Do you like shadows that are shimmery, but not wet look?

MES are very shimmery, frosty and glittery usually, but have an underlying dry look. If you wet them, they get frostier but also heavier looking. If you apply them dry, you can get a semi-sheer veil of color with more toned down shimmer. In HC, only a few are more on the matte side, but normally you don't get sheen, like you would from a moister product. They don't accentuate eyelid texture unless you apply them too heavily, and then all bets are off.

Q: Do you like really complex colors that shift in the light and colors where you can get different shades from one pan?

You'll be in heaven with MES if this is what you like. You will always get a subtle, sophisticated color effect, rather than super bright and punchy. Even the brighter colors have a way of blending with your skin tone and reflecting it, rather than just laying on top, covering everything else that's there.

Q: Do you need super-long wear, without fading?

MES don't wear as long as standard powder shadows often do, but they've gotten much better and the HC ones are the best wearing I've seen - you can get through the day without most colors fading. If you have wear issues, you need to prep your eyes better - especially make sure to have plenty of moisturizer if you have dry lids. A lot of wear problems come from applying them wet with too wet a brush - I prefer to apply them dry and then do a wet layer on top, or apply dry and then spray after application with Fix+.

Q: Do you have sensitive eyes?

Some people can get eye sensitivity with MES - I used to but I've found I have much fewer problems with the newer ones and also do a lot better with them when I don't use a wet brush to pick up product - the MES that I've never gotten wet haven't irritated my eyes, while the ones I used wet brushes on are hit or miss. Ones with a lot of glitter are better to keep away from the tear ducts.

Those are the main issues pro or con that I've found with MES. Personally I love them and wear them more than standard powder shadows, but I can see why some people prefer standard powder shadows.

How does brash compare to MA MES? Anyone?
smiles.gif
Sorry I probably should have swatched it a bit heavier but I'm a little sleepy.
sleepy.gif

Magnetic Attraction on the top, Brash on the bottom.

Magnetic Attraction is more pink than Brash but you could probably get it closer if you added more of the orange in the swirl. I found Magnetic Attraction read brighter on the eye for me. I think it would have been good if the releases were reversed so that Magnetic Attraction was the spring/summer color and Brash was for fall.

Liba! Excellent job of explaining why I love MES. I couldn't put it into words myself. I love the sheer wash of color and I love the multiple colors and reflects in them. I feel like I'm getting a lot of bang on my eyes for a small amount of makeup application. I feel like my eyes are glowing/sparkling without being overdone or overly made up. I rarely wear my MES wet. I usually just don't think to do so.

Ok I must say Wooww!! Thank you so much for writing this very detailed information for me I am learning so much from you guys! Ok so here are my answers to your questions.
Here's a pretty decent checklist to decide if MES are your kind of eye shadow or not:

Q: Do you like to apply and wear shadows that go on very pigmented and then get blended out OR do you prefer shadows that you need to apply in layers and build up the color? I like applying it layer by layer, I don't like I am the best blender so I adding layers actually helps me get to the best look much better.

Ok so I am so too much into the shimmery, I don't like a crazy amount of it but if the MES are like the blushes and SF then it shouldn't be too much of a problem since I fell that these don't have a crazy amount.

Ok so I rather have one single color because I feel that it could be easier for me to deal with specially since I often like to wear my makeup to the hospital I know that I can't have something on that its too much. And then again these might just be for special outings unlike the blushes.

Long wearing is definitely a plus, or I like it to stay put when I go out on date night if it can go for a good 5 hours I'm good if not then I tent to pass on it.

Not normally so this is not a concern for me.

Those are the main issues pro or con that I've found with MES. Personally I love them and wear them more than standard powder shadows, but I can see why some people prefer standard powder shadows.
The verdict: I feel that if I use only on special occasions, and I learn to work with the different colors it might be for me. The thing is that until I get one I won't know, therefore I've decided to get one and see how it works out for me tomorrow I'm going to hit the mall and get MA and see how it works out. Thanks again for this I really, really appreciate it!

I just want ES because it's so beautiful & unique. I asked 2 of my very favorite MUAs to help me with it & they agreed that with my frecklage it looks muddy. Honestly when I wore my CoU the other day I wasn't prepared for how it was going to look & I really had to blend it out & then I put MM over it & finally got it to work, but I'm still unsure about it...

Makes sense I though you might have been looking for an ES with a specific swirl pattern b/c if u were I was gonna try and help

And by the way ladies I'm not sure if any of you like The Balm but its going to be on sale at Hautelook tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up! I actually think I'm good on TheBalm for now. I bought some new things from their last Hautelook sale but most of my TheBalm loot is from Marshalls/TJ Maxx (I prefer not having to pay for shipping and my local stores have a really good selection). I saw that they're now on the Nordies website. I can't imagine ever paying full price for them!

lolll I said the same thing when I saw it at the Nordies site, and you know I have never been lucky enough to get any Balm stuff from marshalls or TJ maxx I'm not sure if its my location or what although I have checked in FL Maryland and DC and no luck.

Amazing haul and great swirlage going on there!! great choices

Sigma sells a brush case that has elastics in it. I think it's called the dry and store system, but it's seriously amazing. I get my 226, 109 and 217 specifically, but makes all my brushes look like new again. The elastics held bind the brush hairs back to their original form. It's amaaazing!
