How are you applying these? I can't seem to find the right brush. Thanks for the help. Finally got to see these today. 'Love the texture - definitely not so good for blending down, but it's great for building up in layers. I particularly loved the bright colors, which look very natural on, compared to standard powder shadows in similar shades (which can look awfully powdery on my dry skin). I would say it's an enhanced version of the Metal X texture - that's the closest I can describe it to, and I found the application technique to be pretty much identical.
It's sort of a very thin putty texture, so you could certainly slather too much on and get weird clumping - 'tried Dynamo in-store over a paint pot and that was a disaster - better off to just wear over moisturized eyes with no base, although I am going to try them over Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye, which ought to work fine.
One nice thing - when removing, even the super glittery ones do not leave glitter residue all over the face. These will be good sparkle that won't irritate the eyes.
I chose Blacklit (what an amazing beetle shell black), Dynamo (finally a nice coral that doesn't look powdery or dry - great used all the way up to the brow), Infra-Violet (like Dynamo, it's a perfect texture for a bright pink like this...makes it extremely wearable for older eyes and can be applied lightly up to the brows without looking clownish) and Fashion Circuit (this is a hell of a peacock green and insanely pigmented).
I passed on all the neutral shades, since I'm very picky about nude colors - they don't always do much to enhance my natural coloring or skin texture so they have to be perfect or I skip. Superwatt was beautiful, though, for the right skin tones. Electroplate was an amazing grey, but almost exactly the same color as that silver grey paint pot from Champale, except without the glitter chunks...I might go back for it, very tempting.
I didn't like the purple - it was a little too ordinary. Same with the cobalt blue and the yellow. That's OK, since 4 of these is plenty. We did hunt all over the packaging for some sort of expiration date and couldn't find one.
I have used the 252 and actually like it with them for an all over wash of color. The 286 blends well with them, much better than the 224 or 217. I also like the 234. It might just be my favorite for them. Stiffer works better but the 234 seems to apply and blend them nicely! How are you applying these? I can't seem to find the right brush. Thanks for the help.
Aww. That is sad. They are probably my favorite formula ever. I can wear them with no base or primer and they look great ALLLLLLL day.i wasnt very impressed with these
I use my fingers. That works best for me.I am not sure what I will use to apply these. I am thinking my finger at this point!
With the nature of these I'd try and not buy from them online. Macys is horrible at packaging makeup. They never have any cushioning so the makeup moves around. They just throw it into a padded envelope. These shadows are on macys site. Dynamo and infra violet too.
Even though the bloggers had messed up ones none of mine have had issues. Some were even shipped from a counter with no padding or wrapping and they made it just fine. Plus, I live in the desert where it has been in the 100's since May. Maybe the promo samples were exposed to something crazy or there was an issue that is fixed now. With the nature of these I'd try and not buy from them online. Macys is horrible at packaging makeup. I've seen some at the counter that looked like the ones the bloggers received. And a couple of my friends ordered them online from Nordies and received a couple of messed up ones. It's not a big deal b/c they can be easily nudged into place, but I don't think it can be said that it was simply the samples they received.
