MAC for Marilyn

You Know I canceled my BP, because after reading temptalia she said its a little chalky and powdery, its a grade B, not bad really but Im from california, I get tax, I didnt want to pay 30bucks, for something that is a little chalky, I hate chalky.......so I wont take chances, If I get a chance ill go to the mac store and just buy the lipsticks, or online from nordie. Or just move on with this collection, I already feel like blah.. im so sad though, ill wait till oct 4, if I don't get a chance on buying then, ill go to sephora and heal my broken heart.

Hey .. i'm a little confused about this shipping protocol .. I placed my order as soon as the collection came up on the site this morning .. I chose standard shipping - does that mean that my order could potentially be cancelled/told it sold out because people who used Overnight Shipping get first dibs (regardless of time of order?)

I'd like to know this as well

It's even slightly darker than that.. it doesn't look orangey on me at all compared to T swatches!

I own Nyx Spellbound and just pulled it out. It doesn't look as dark as Love Goddess. At least on darker skin it doesn't. Nyx Spellbound is more of a bright bubblegum pink and I don't see any red tones in it like Love Goddess. Out of everything in my stash, I found Revlon's Fire & Ice to be the most similar. It's a pinky red. Not an exact dupe, but if you are looking for a pinky red lipstick this is it.

I forgot about WOC, you are right! On my NC30 skin it looked very similar, but the colour might show up very different on darker skin! I wonder if the colour of the new formula is different too.. I have the new one, which is less oily and doens't smell bad.

I called my local store first thing when they opened this morning to make sure my items were still on hold (Deeply Adored l/s and Preferred Blonde e/s). Thankfully they were still there. After seeing DA on Christine (Temptalia), I'm going to be so happy if it looks the same on me as it does on her! We have similar coloring (I'm a shade lighter) so I'm guessing it will look great. It's exactly the kind of red I've been looking for, and I doubt it will lean pink on me like most other reds tend to do. Contemplating a DA B/U! MAC store, do NOT lose my items between now and 5:30!!!

I know this has already been said, but for those who missed out, don't forget the Marilyn collection is launching at counters on Oct. 4. All hope is not lost!

I would think it goes by who placed their orders first but who knows. I chose overnight shipping just to be safe and when I called mac to check the status they said it was already in the warehouse. I hope they don't have any overselling problems and everyone gets their orders.

When the muppets got excited or really happy cus something was so full of awesome they would wiggle their arms in the air and jump around shouting YaY. My daughter does it when she talks alot so that is how I think of that excitement. IMHO she overapplied it.

I swatched the BP during launch and its very finely milled, and goes on like a dream.

Ive learned not to trust her swatches/photos because she overapplies and cranks up the saturation of her pics.

I'm in California, I figured Mac would release at a crazy hour so I kept my laptop right next to me in bed to check on the launch. I woke up every 30 mins or so to refresh MAC's site, thankfully I woke up right when it launched so I got everything I wanted! Lack of sleep = totally worth it!

I just want to stress that it sucks, but there is still counter launches and other retail launches online. I think there were a lot of Marilyn collectors too not just like a normal collection. Plus, I still really think it was SUUUUPER LE with low production numbers. JMO. I get how bad it sucks to wait and wait but being super tired makes everything feel worse than it is. There is still hope to get what you want.

I don't have the new one, so that may be why. Do you mind posting a comparison swatch? I don't own LG yet and was just going off swatches

Im actually happy they gave us a time frame this time around, and I hope they do this for each "big" collection launch.

Well, assigned release dates for YR and By Request, and for the most part stuck with them. MM was the first collection in recent memory that MAC assigned a specific online launch date and I applaud them for sticking with it! MAC needs to continue this in the future, so that people don't feel like they need to stalk the website for days/nights on end (just the night before

)! I hope that this sets a precedent for how MAC handles online releases.

For everyone who missed out this morning, don't lose hope! There's always the in store launch, plus all the various department store websites! I'm sorry for all those who wasted sleep on this collection, I truly hope that everyone gets what they want. BUT, in the off chance you miss out on something, please don't stress out! I know you're disappointed, but please remember that while we're all here for the same reason (hello, we're makeup addicts!), no lipstick, blush, eyeshadow etc is worth the physical stress you're putting on your bodies (i.e. lost sleep

). Plus, there are always newer, greater things on the horizon!

This is also a reminder of how important it is to develop good relationships with the MUA at your local store/counter (if you have one within reasonable driving distance). Sometimes, they say you can't pre-order, but if you've already established a good relationship with someone there, the odds of being able to put things aside are much higher!!!
