Wow - wha'd I miss? I checked the site around 5:40am before I left for work and I just got home now to see that pretty much the full flipping line is sold out! Good thing I pre-ordered. Now to go back and catch up on 30 pages on messages. LOL
Ya it was mostly gone by 7:30 PDT which was when I got up with my daughter. I had checked at 4 PDT because I woke up to potty and there was nothing. I was a bit ticked to say the least. Oh, and I got the email at about 6 am and a text later in the day. Urghity urgh!

For the ladies who missed out, some counters are still presaling, they don't charge your card till the 4th. If you don't want to pull anymore all nighters I would give this a try. I live in Washington State and I have called stores all across the country for different collections and all of them do phone orders. Plus if you do a phone order with Nordstroms there is no shipping. All you need is an old fashion pen and paper and google of course and start calling stores. Mind you some SA's are friendly some are not. I presaled at Grand Central MAC in New York and paid this morning. Some store won't but keep calling till you find one that will. Hope this helps.
WOW! Mommy, you really do love MAC, don't you! Such fortitude & persistence! I hope you got everything you wanted!

I stopped by my local MAC store this evening and picked up my 3 MM lippies.

Their stock was depleted. I think they only had 1 Pure Zen lippie, 1 or 2 shadows: the white one and frosty light grey and maybe 1 of each blush.

Mind you, this store is holding a MM event all this weekend & they have no product left to sell.

Geesh!

I swear I've never seen anything sell out so fast! Ever!!!

OK super long post - I'll split it up and there's actually more to say, but I'm on the road running out of battery power so here goes:

Hi all,

I was at my local store bright and early to check out the collection - 'sorry I couldn't get online sooner to write all this up.

First off, my best suggestion is that if you really want things from Marilyn, you're going to need to find a pre-order and FAST. Just in the hour I spent chit chatting with my MA in the back room, they sold out of The Perfect Cheek, which was pretty surprising to me. This is just from pre-orders on the phone where people were required to purchase a gift card right then and there to be redeemed for their items next week. My store is a high volume location and usually gets plenty of supply in, although they're only doing a basic event with makeup artists present for $50+ purchasers over the next Fri-Sat. So to say stock was limited is an understatement. They only got in 8 pairs of lashes and 8 BPs. So, yeek - run don't walk (and I hate to be an alarmist for no reason!)

Now, allow me to enable and anti-enable all you lovelies!!

First off, the enabling!

The Beauty Powder is gorgeous! If you are a pale lady and either thought Elude was a touch too white or love Elude but would like something with a little bit more of a colored cast, you are going to go batshit over this one. Unlike some of the other peachy bps from the past few years, there is zero sparkle in this one and near to zero sheen. It's not dewey. In fact even Elude is a bit dewier (and more translucent). This one is a perfect matte - not flat matte, but a modern-retro update. I came in with a light coverage of Matchmaster (1.0), since I figured it'd be the main foundation I'd use with MM products, if I use anything. The beautiful way it balanced out my skin tone (which is a lot less sallow lately, but still NC more than NW) WITHOUT being powdery in any way, shape or form was ZOMG. I often find bps too powdery for my taste, accentuating my middle-aged lady peach fuzz especially when worn alone. However, this one is not powdery at all. If you want a look like a porcelain doll, you are going to go crazy over it. I wore it all day and it behaved very well, not doing any bunching up or weird reaction with my foundation (and it was hot outside!).

Again, it reads matte, but it's one of those tricky high tech formulas, where you are actually getting plenty of softening and light reflectivity - you just can't see any shine. My MA was likening it to his all time favorite BP from Diana Ross. I'm sure some of you have fond memories of that one, although I wasn't buying makeup at that time and missed out. For me, as an NC15 gal, this is what I would have bought if I could have only bought one thing. I think people up to NC25 could rock a full face of it, if not even NC30 or NC35. It'll be A-OK for balancing olive complexions and also wrangling pink NW faces. If you're darker, it might be a possibility for a highlighting powder to go along with some contouring, especially for photography, since it's going to handle even flash really well.

To sum up, if Elude works for you in any context, this will give more color-correcting coverage by around 30-40% and not give any dewiness or sheen. FABULOUS MIRACLE POWDER - I'm going to use it instead of my Careblend powder, when I want something more matte and formal. It's got roughly the same coverage and is on par with the lightest Careblend shade, or a step or two lighter, except with no beige and more peach. It'll work excellently on its own over bare skin, or use a little strobe or CCB underneath, if you still like a bit of dew on the leaf, so to speak. I didn't consider BU'ing it up, because I do think this will be a touch more specialized for my tastes than Elude, due to the texture; but if you are a matte person, yeah you are probably going to want to claw your way to some BUs, possibly over the broken and bleeding bodies of your fellow makeup lovers.

Next up in the enable-a-thon: Those lipsticks!

Love Goddess: beautiful texture, has lasted me all day without any fading or change in moistness. Totally comfortable on my lips and forgiving in texture, even a bit moisturizing feeling. The color is quite unique and complex. People comparing it to Gesina (which I don't own) are probably the closest. It's like a more subdued Impassioned. Depending on the light quality, it shifts from reading more red (in shade) to more rose pink/fuchsia, but there is a very slight lean to the blue end of the spectrum, but just barely. MAC doesn't come out with colors this intricate more than a few times a year max, and it's just the sort of thing you can really tweak with a red lip pencil or gloss vs. a pink or plum one, so it's versatile. It's really not like Fire Sign at all (at least on me) - the closest thing I own to it is the bright pink mattene from last year's Posh Paradise, but this is still redder, more complex and more "lady-like" or sophisticated. Someone else who was a pale NW blonde was in trying it on - her lips were paler than mine and it read a lot pinker, but man, I thought it looked stupendous on her. In fact, she tried on all the lipsticks and my honest opinion was they're all particularly well tailored for blondes (of any skin tone). Remember, I'm insanely picky about reds for myself. If I had to pick one lipstick, it'd probably be LG, unless you are someone who didn't already get Scarlet Ibis, which is still one of the best reds ever, if you don't mind being daring.

BTW, this SI is the same as the Iris one, same color, same texture, fyi. No need to worry about it being different. Yes Sail la Vie is similar, but I've got both and I'd still take SI over SLV any old day - better texture and just richer and brighter.

Deeply Adored: OK, this is THE matte version of the original Runaway Red, so let's just get that out of the way. I tried a full mouth of DA, then a full mouth of RR then tried RR on the top lip and DA on the bottom AND RR on the bottom with DA on the top. It may read a fractional amount more brownish, but that is truly due to the difference in texture - remember a really flat matte will absorb more light than a glossier finish and thus, enhance the deeper undertones - whichever undertone is the closest to black. Hence it being a little browner, rather than actually darker (it's not darker than RR), since the whole beauty of this color is that it's made deep and rich by a balance of red, blue and yellow pigments, rather than simply darkened with black pigment. This is the sign of a truly complex and jewel-like color. Believe me, I don't think you will find another shade like this except possibly Chanel or Armani or other super-high end line that really gives a shit about reds. DA is also the good matte - it feels just as light on the lips as SI, and isn't drying. Also like SI, it's very forgiving of lip texture - it will hide the flaws, without needing a lot of prep work. And, it is MEGA MATTE, not half matte. A major winner, if you're not into something quite pink leaning like LG.

Charmed I'm Sure: Well, this one took a little bit of convincing for me, but only due to two reasons. First off, it's a more neutral red than I normally feel comfortable with, although it's definitely got more blue in it than yellow. On me, it was't that instant pop of pure love, even when checked in natural light. However, when I blotted it down, bringing out the bluer and pinker aspect, then I thought it was really beautiful. It also perked up on me with either of the glosses on top. Anyone who isn't as touchy about reds as I am won't be bothered by any of this at all. The other reason I didn't fall all over myself with CIS was that although it was close to being the "good matte", it was still a bit drier than DA or SI. It WAS as matte as DA, though, right out of the tube, so mega-matte, but it did play up some dry bits on the lip more than the others. I tried it on second after LG, and also tried it on at the end after I tried DA and RR in all those combos and it was a touch dry even the first time. Nothing horrible at all, but compared to DA, you could see the difference. It's lighter than DA and Runaway Red. It was a richer color than Fire Sign, although not drastically far off from it in neutrality. We also tried it compared to Russian Red and it's MUCH richer and more beautiful than that one and also a teeny bit more blue toned. If you like Russian Red, CIS is far superior in color and in texture, even if it is drier than DA. It's as velvety matte as a gal can hope for, so the tiny bit of prep you might need with it is worth it and of course, if you plan on wearing it blotted, it actually becomes much more forgiving that way, as a rich lovely stain - that's sure how I'm going to wear it!

I'll be quick about the eye shadows - they're very high quality Veluxe Pearls for sure and really nice and shimmery, as the best VPs are. The colors are very basic, though and I'm personally the sort who would rather take my whites and champagnes in more high tech formulas, to minimize my eye texture. If you are young and already have smooth lids, of course these will be the easiest way to get a wet-look shimmer, without worrying about fallout or creasing or any other application weirdness. Showgirl is particularly pretty - I was tempted. I would actually compare these to the MegaMetal shadows overall, perhaps a touch less metallic, but with all the sheen and shimmer, so if you love those and need some great neutrals, I'd say they're worth the price. Showgirl is like a lighter, blended out version of Dandizette MegaMetal, in particular (why I ultimately skipped it), but yeah beautiful and I was sorely tempted.

Also, I can go on about them more when I get home but the Dazzleglasses are shockingly better than the usual DGs! The glitter is much more refined and finely milled, making them suddenly gorgeous. If you were tired of DGs, but still love sparkle, you're going to have to check them out. I actually bought Pfff!, which I was totally not planning on doing, and Little Rock is also really lovely, if starker, since it's pure white with white sparkle, vs. champagne with more multi- colored sparkle. If MAC decides to start making DGs with a texture like this, consider me a renewed DG customer (and I thought I was over them.) Actually one of the nicer products in the collection for me, I'd say third after the BP and the lipsticks taken as a whole.

Gotta run- I'll be back later on, kiddies!

Just caught up. What a fiasco - I would never have the tolerance for this kind of crap.

It sounds like a bunch of MAC stores are saying no holds; I talked to the manager and MUA at mine yesterday so I'm going to presume that they will keep their word and hold for me although I understand that it isn't something they typically do. I did offer to prepay in advance but I don't think they can process those. Love the CIS and DA swatches; glad I'll be getting those.

MAC - get your act together. This is no way to run a business or treat your customers.

One of my orders (the earlier one) shipped....The other one placed 20 min after didn't yet!
I think they're going on a first ordered, first shipped basis. I submitted 3 orders, 2 back to back (because I was using my paypal balance, and then my boyfriend's card) and then the last one like 10 minutes later due to browsing and wanting more, lol. Anyway, my first 2 already shipped standard, my last order is waiting to ship, also standard.

So I got a phone call from MAC about 1 pm today but i was sleeping, after staying up all night, so i didnt get to call them back until around 4. They needed to talk to my mom because she let me use her card to pay, since its an early bday gift, for security reasons. Okay sure, so i call my mom and tell her to give them a call quickly so i can get my stuff. I just gave her a call back to see what they said, she told me that they had to restock my items because it took too long for us to call back since the line was in such high demand. She said it twice without even the slightest hint at joking as im screaming What?! into the phone repeatedly and about to cry, she starts laughing and says she's kidding that my stuff will arrive tomorrow.
