MAC for Marilyn

Oh and my MM MAC frenzy story for the day...

I preordered my FM BU from my favorite MAC MUA. I honestly thought that I would miss out on getting it b/c of all of the hype. Plus I could not get to the store until after work. I went to the store anyway, and my MUA was able to hide it (LOL) in the store. So I did end up with my BU.

But that is not the crazy story. While she was ringing me up, she told me about the craziness this morning. When the cleaning crew arrived at the mall this morning at 6 am, there was already a line of people outside the mall waiting for the MAC store to open. The cleaning crew opened the doors to the mall, and everyone charged/ran to the MAC store to get in line in front of it. Now this is still at 6 am. MAC store does not open until 10 am. When the opening MAC employees showed up around 8 am, they had to get escorted into the store by security and almost called the police a couple of times. The women outside the store were in a MM frenzy and not behaving. Security had to remain at the store until basically everything that was not on preorder was sold out.

OMG, that's CRAZY! Which mall was this at?!

I never thought this collection would generate the amount of madness it had. I count myself fortunate that I didn't have to deal with any of the craziness -- that, and my SA who was diligent in setting aside everything I wanted. Turns out that they can't purchase anything for two weeks. What good does that do if everything sells out during that time?

Just picked up my Forever Marilyn Beauty powder that I had on hold at Macy's. It definitely will look best on lighter skin tones (I'm NC45) but I still like it. It looks nice as a highlighter.
Everything at my local Macy's is sold out except the nail polish. The MUA said it was CRAZY this morning.

I'm just waiting for my Nordstorm order to get here. (Love Goddess & TPC)

WOW! The frenzy of this collection is so crazy! I didn't go to my MAC store today and wanted to because I want to see what's left of this collection and I really want to get Preferred Blonde e/s and How To Marry e/s but at the same time I only want to get Phiff! d/g to back it up since I really love that dazzleglass. Also, I just saw that m order of Little Rock d/g from Bloomingdale's doesn't ship until the 8th. And as for my preorder of Little Rock d/g and The Perfect Cheek Blush, it's being shipped to me since I preordred it from another store in Vegas. I just realized that I ordered The Perfect Cheek blush off of Nordstrom and I recieve it on Monday! I ordred it in case I didn't get it from my preorder and going to sell the one that I ordred from Nordstrom as soon as I recieve it to anyone that lives in the US.

That's so sad They have to deal with all the crazy people and they can't even buy anything for themselves. I'm sure it's so that they don't buy up everything but I think if they were limited to one of each item it would be fair.

Maybe the MM estate wanted to make this collection more on the "exclusive" side? More of a collector's type group of products that are hard to get.

She also told me which entrance to use because they open it first, and she already had my items pulled. Glad you got yours.

Hey Ladies,
Not new to the site(professional lurker), but this is my first post!
I had to work this am, and the only things i wanted was Love Goddess and Deeply Adored. So last nite, i made the hubby homemade chicken stew and homemeade corn bread and first thing he asks"what do you want?'..lol..so i convinced him to go to Macys at 10 am,(and not a second later), because the lippies would be sold out when i got off.my sweetheart was there at 930!! and there was a line!! so while the ladies where swatching he went right to a MA and showed her my text and was able to get my two lippies. He then promptly bragged about it on facebook and posted pics on Instagram, and all his friends made fun of it!! lol..another cute storie to tell the kids one day..anyway, i guess i can stop lurking now!! hey Ladies!!

I love this. I will be sharing it with my husband. What a hoot! LMAO

I am so happy that I was able to pre-order items at my counter. I think that I would have skipped this collection otherwise (I mean, I didn't even go out of my way to order stuff...I was there to buy P&P lip and they offered to show me everything). But thanks to my awesome counter, I was able to buy all the items on my (short) list as well as a few CPs. I wasn't about to stalk the website or wait in long lines to get everything. I don't have the patience for that. I think if I saw people running past me , I would have given them the side eye, haha.

 i dont  think that would change a thing, some people would still miss out and mac would still sell out like crazy. there is no way in telling if people that get 5 of each at a counter are selling in ebay or just doing cp's.

I believe there was a similar issue with theBalm and the Muppet palette, but they are a small company! Estee Lauder definitely has the money to spend to ensure there is enough stock. They just didn't want to and that's the truth.

I chose not to go to the counter and hearing the stories I'm glad. I don't like stuff like this (Black Friday, etc.) I'm happy that I got to order some stuff and I know there will chances to swap/buy in the future for reasonable prices.

this collection could have been 4-5 items, in the same vein as the playboy collection years ago: a red lipstick, beauty powder, mascara, and an eyeliner; a light blush as a bonus. MM didn't get down with a huge range of makeup all like that, lol it really wasn't that unique to me, those reds are on the market already, the shadows and glosses, um yeah. I love Love Goddess (trust me when I say, my next order of lip tars are specifically so I can recreate it), but I would have took it in another collection so this one could have been short and sweet and while still being a money maker.

hmmmm, most likely lower quanities to protect her legacy and not run it into the ground. if I was in charge of her estate I would have limted the amount of items with her photo on it too. I would prefer people coming up with their own ways to create a Marilyn look as oppose to a super conglomerate makeup company doing it for me. Its nice that MAC got in on a peice of the MM legacy though, This is one definately for the history books.

From a collectors prespective, its better when there are only 1000 in the world as oppose to 10000. For this collection, I am not entirely mad at the evilbayers. There are MM stans who would pay for a drop of her bathwater in a heartbeat. Pure capitalism, the frenzy is on!

Hi ladies.. long time lurker, occasional poster. Was first in line today to get everything I wanted from MM collection but am now kicking myself for not getting another FM beauty powder.. it does wonders for my NC 15 skin and I'm obsessed. Called every freestanding store and counter in my city (Edmonton, Canada) and they're sold out of course. (whomp, whomp)

if anyone has an extra they would be willing to part ways with PLEEAAASSEE let me know! Would pay for the shipping to canada of course. Thanks girls
