And to think that you came here to try just one Chanel lipstick awhile back.

I started out thinking that I'd just try a nail polish...

I still don't know if Notorious is coming anywhere in Canada outside the couple of Chanel boutiques we have. It's not up on the Canadian web site, which isn't necessarily reliable. If I look at the American site, it does look like it's still available- it lets me put it in a bag and pretend like I'm ordering it... Which feels good for the second I click on the "add to bag" button.

That Notorious powder looks so interesting, but has anyone with a cool skin tone tried it? I am a really pale cool skin tone and don't know if the powder with look like dirt on me. Thoughts??

Oh dear. I just got off the phone with Saks Chevy Chase. Thanks Winthrop for mentioning them. The first thing I asked is if they had a GWP. The SA said yes and I think I lost all reasoning at that point. Some how the $175 purchase to qualify didn't quite register in my head. I just heard the "yes" to GWP.

I'm getting Notorious shipped from another store. I also added Malice and L'Impatiente from the 2012 Holiday collection. Then I included Passion RA, Tentation and Holiday nail polishes to round out my order and to qualify for the GWP. These are all items I was already planning to purchase, but I don't think I was planning to get them all at once. Oh well. I'm happy to be getting my own magic powder!

I think after this haul, I'm good with Chanel purchases for a while. Strike that last statement. That's not true. I have a possible pending CP purchase and there's still a couple of more polishes I'd like to get. Oh dear.
Oooh, what's the GWP? I generally prefer to swatch stuff in person instead of ordering online, but I could be persuaded...

! Lol, oh well. At least I'm getting a GWP. But still, I could've ordered directly from the website and got it a lot faster if I only waited an hour.

It's a black Chanel cosmetic bag that includes samples of an eye cream, lotion and a mascara. I have too many of those mascaras now ordering from the website. It also comes with Chanel post-it notes. I don't think the GWP is available at all counters. Saks Chevy Chase said they had an event last week and they still have a few left over.

Lovely!
Actually Shontay, you're warm on the top and sort of cool on the bottom (around the mouth and jawline). I noticed that the first time I saw you in MUFE #173. It does something different on the bottom of your face. It's fine through your forehead and t-zone. You're best suited to warmer skin toned foundations (not neutral ones) because they work well with both tones of your skin.

Most people have at least two 'colors' in their face. Most WOC have an average of FOUR. The goal is to find shades/colors that translate well for the entire face, so that everything looks uniform.
I didn't realize that portions of your face could be cool and warm. I really enjoy learning from all of the very knowledgeable people here on Spektra.

Hm, I might call and get it! I'm a sucker for GWP, but most brands that I buy from don't have them often (at least not to the degree that Clinique and Lancome do). Any recs for a pale, brunette, blue-eyed NW10-NW15ish? I have quite a few of the Rouge Allures, but none of the Velvets, so I'm thinking of picking up one of those.

Yes. Most faces lean toward cool/neutral or warm/neutral, or just plain old neutral. I just notice Shontay's because we're the same shade in foundations. And the thing about MUFE #173 is that it's pretty neutral. So if you've got warm skin, it can potentially go ashy.

That's why the 'jawline' is so key when testing a foundation, because you want it to match your neck. You can adjust the other parts of your face accordingly once you've got that portion of the face locked down.

If I only tested foundation on my nose or forehead, I would look like an ashy lightbulb head when I put it on my whole face.

Got home late tonight but tried out the Notorious blush. Actually, I really really like it. I was already wearing the Marilyn BP & Legendary blush so I swept the faintest amount in my hollows, blending blending & wow I couldn't believe how sculpted my face looked. And, when I looked in the mirror...no vampire looked back

It really looks great on the eyelids.
Hey! I'm just seeing this! HORRAY for no Vampires!

I'm happy to hear that. Contour should be done like that anyway, so you're totally doing it right. It's better to start light, blend, and build as needed... instead of slapping it on and then trying to blend it out so that it doesn't look crazy.

Contour, when done properly, should be barely noticeable... if at all. The whole idea is to TRICK the eye into seeing a shadow there, and giving the illusion of a hollow.

Woot! All of my Holiday is on Pre-Order & GUARANTEED to be secured for me as soon as it arrives. They've been checking every day to let me know as soon as it shows ups. She did this for me because they are anticipating a rush on a few of the items.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at how little was there, but how big the impact of the look was. I've seen some of that crazzzzy cheekbone contouring

I have no clue what to recommend colorwise. If you're planning to get anything from the Holiday collection, you can add that to your order. I'm also a fan of the nail polish and will soon be looking into the glossimers.

I wonder if Notorious is much different than Mac Strada? That was another shade that was primarily used for contouring. I'm intrigued by Notorius but it seems one of those things that can be applied wrong too easily.

Notorious is nothing like Strada. Not in the pan and not on the face. Notorious is hard to mess up because it's a soft, buildable color. It's not pigment packed like a Nars blush. Even with my heavy hand it went on nice and soft.
