I wish I knew if we do get Ultra Rose eventually whether it will be baked or not. My skin really doesn't like the baked much.....

Thanks for all the pics MissQQ. So pretty!

Thanks MissQQ for the pics.

I'd be interested in comparisons between the holiday quads from Chanel and Guerlain. Can anybody help? Christine claims they're quite similar, and the colours definitely seem so, but I'm looking for some personal experiences from swatching, seeing them instore etc. Please?

Thanks Winthrop! No, I hadn't, for some reason MUA is never really on my radar.
Based on the pics, I like the Chanel one better...

I think I'm the only one that doesn't get the fuss about Ultra Rose. It just looks like a very bright pink blush.

So Orchid Rose blush was discontinued and I'm trying to decide whether I want to get a back-up. For those of you who have Rose Ecrin and Orchid Rose, do you think they're similar?

I went to my Macy's yesterday to pick up my JC, blush, and np. They do not have a display out at all and only got 3 of each item :-0

Since I was going out to a dinner later I asked the SA if she could do my makeup with the products. She used the quad and okay I caved. She used Stardust as a highlighter on me and Plum Attraction as the blush. She also used one of the pressed face powders for contouring. There were a lot of things near my cheeks! Way more than I ever use at home. My eyes looked glorious! I love the NP tho I put it on heavily while she was doing my face and it bubbled terribly. The gold is IdO is attractive but I don't think I will be getting it. The loose powder had very large chunks of glitter and I do not think it belongs anywhere near the face. The back of my hand and arm glistened like a disco ball on steroids after buffing out the merest of dustings. It actually was very festive and I can imagine wearing it on a night out over chest and bare arms. My SA said the same when I exclaimed about the glitter~~ oh no no not the face on your arms etc. Disco ball on steroids might be a bit harsh. I definitely looked sprinkled with fairy dust~ lots and lots to help me fly {think happy thoughts!} but the glitter in it was nothing short of chunky even after buffing.

BTW I am thinking of returning the TF quad. I did wear it the day I got it and although I found the colors to be very pigmented, smooth and beautiful the lasting power was only a few hours. I do not generally wear a primer and haven't had anything disappear so quickly before. It needs moar testing but figured I would point this out. Also in swatching the darkest color was the one that lasted the longest and showed up the best {doh} but the others really poofed.

I am, for the record, NW15 per Mac or Rose Beige 32 in the latest Chanel foundation {RB 20 in their mineral foundation} and it imparts a more face appropriate glitter. When I got home last night say around 1 am I noticed the sparkle. Very pretty. However it does not show up as a blush at all on me and is definitely highlighter material. It would be my first highlighter if I decide to keep it. All that contouring~ shading/blushing/highlighting o.0 !! I did use my FM BP when I got home from SA and before going out for dinner because post the spa treatment of mask, serum, blah blah she did on my my face felt overly glisten-y and I wanted to have a more mattified glimmer. I cannot imagine how sparkly that JC would have looked so many hours later if I hadn't used the BP.

The definite winners from this coll IMO are the NP and the quad. Seriously I don't know why I thought of resisting the quad. The l/s is also nice but as usual I wore it over balm so it was very sheer.

Oh Guerlain products are just horrible. Avoid buying them at all costs. Not really - LOL. It is just that "getting into" Guerlain is as slippery & expensive a slope as Chanel. Once the flood gates open.....
My mouth dropped. LOL You almost had me... I used to buy the meteorites and chanel glosses back when that was all I wore, and the MUA at Guerlain always told me that I didn't need foundation. I so want that skin back.

Hi, I have both and have done videos on both, they are nothing alike.
Turadot is a warm palette and Chanel is nuetral pink, plummy and taupe.
100% different.

Here is my Guerlain holiday vid. You can compare the two, as my Chanel is there as well! :)

Oh no they are really different. Rose Ecrin is almost mute, nude in a way easy to wear. Orchid Rose is more like a peach/coral/orange soft blush with subtle shimmer.
Discontinued ? Well, if so I would not recommand Rose Ecrin at all. Espiègle maybe ( very soft pale peach ) but not Rose Ecrin. I guess formulas and colours are the same everywhere ? All 3 are baked.

No, we have the powder US formula for Rose Ecrin, Espiègle and Orchid Rose (and pretty much all other JCs) here in the US. It's really just the unusual Asia exclusive where we seem to get the baked ones....as if we are an after-thought or we get whatever's left, lol....usually for Nordstrom's anniversary sale. We did get Pink explosion, Plum attraction and something else as baked at first, but then got our formula later on. That's why I'd love to know whether we're eventually going to get Ultra Rose in the powder formula because I'd just hold off.

Orchid Rose differed depending on the one you got, they seemed to have alot of batch to batch variation with it. It was supposedly mauvey according to every SA I ever talked to about it, and I do know some poeple who managed to actually buy mauvey ones, but every one I ever tried was as Dominique describes...peachy with shimmer. Rose Ecrin is more of a nude rose, very different. I don't think there's really anything else similar to Orchid Rose right now.

I actually saw both already! And enjoyed them enormously.
So, inquiering minds want to know: which one is your fave? Texture- and colour-wise? TIA!

Have you seen this from MUA Anneri?

Thanks very much for this!!! It helps that she's very close to my own shade. Now I'm not sure. They are somewhat close. If I have to choose one, I'd probably pick the Chanel, since it's a little more neutral/ cool toned and will probably suit me more. On the other hand, I really love the way that Guerlain's quad combines shimmer and matte textures. I'm torn...

I just got back from a quick trip to the mall to check out this collection and Dior's holiday collection. For this collection, I walked away with the quad, the gold IdO, & the new plum RAV.

I have the Guerlain quad, but the Chanel one seemed different enough (texture and color) when swatched in person to purchase. The IdO I will use to add that extra oomph to holiday looks.

I also swatched the JC, glossimers, and the loose powder. The JC pretty much disappeared on my skin (NW 20), and all that was apparent was a highlight/sparkle. No color. I agree with previous posters who consider this more as a highlighter and not as a traditional blush. The JC would be something for me to layer over my blush. I don't need another highlighter.

The loose powder is disco ball on steroids. Chunky glitter city. Teenage glitter. I passed.

The glossimers are pretty, but they are nothing new. I have a lot of glossimers that look very similar when applied, so I passed on those as well.

The RAV surprised me. I had dismissed it initially b/c it was so dark. But with a lot of blotting and a pink gloss on top - voila very pretty plum sparkle.

(Wrong thread but I also bought some of the Dior ls from the holiday collection. Hate the packaging but love the product.)
