Guerlain discussion

I've read that the pressed meteorites like these: http://www.sephora.com/meteorites-compact-powder-P280415?skuId=1304955 are less glittery than the loose balls. Can't vouch for this personally as I haven't tried either - they both contain bismuth oxychloride and pentylene glycol one of which makes my skin itch like crazy and the other turns me red. :( - but probably others on here can agree or disagree based on personal experience.
I love the pressed powder and use it all the time, it's not at all shimmery. It's a mattifying setting powder. My skin has no problem with it whatsoever.

For those of you who have purchased and own Guerlain Meteorites, have you ever opened your brand new box to find dusty fingerprints on the outside of the tin? I bought my first Meteorites today in Du Dragon and saw this on the outside of my tin. I went to the Guerlain counter and the SA said that happens sometimes because everything is hand packed.

Hi all.
I bought the Wulong compact too, it is gorgeous and leaves a nice finish.
Gorgeous compact too.
I will take pics soon, I didn't have the compact for my vid. But happy I have it all. :)

I read T's review on these and yes the price is beyond crazy. She makes this sound like the best thing since sliced bread.

So what it is the difference between the "Wulong" and the "Voyage" pressed powder compact? They are both the same price but I'm wondering as far as color and/or finish.

Love to see some pics and hear your thoughts of your newly arrived goody.

UK ladies, the Turandot quad is available at Escentual.com for 10% less if anyone's still after it! I've given up on waiting for HoF and Debenhams to put it up. Free 1st class delivery too! And the Wulong Voyage Powder is "just" £99. ;)

I've never had that happen with any of the Guerlain products that I've purchased, ever. Even if they're hand-packed, the people packing them should be wearing gloves.

Thanks for responding to my post. I've decided to return it. Have you experienced any type of powder being on the outside of the container, not just finger prints?

I have never had finger prints or powder on the outside of my new containers. I have ordered the meteorites thru Nordstrom, Saks and sephora store before and never had that issue before.

Thanks for the info. Then it's really weird how the container I got and the one the Guerlain SA showed me to explain that it's a "normal" occurrence both had prints and powder on them. This purchase was ordered online through Nordstrom, but I selected to pick it up in the store instead of having it delivered. I wont let this experience sour me to Guerlain products in general, but I think I'll opt to just have my things from this brand delivered.

The Dragon Meteorites are glittery???

Honestly, not as much as past releases. More than the Pucci, but the Pucci were kinda matte.
I find the Butterfly the most shimmery, these are very subtle on your skin, remember you are using a large brush and it is diffusing and not settling in one spot.

IMO , these are not as shimmery as others, sadly.

Never. Not from Guerlain or anybody else. It's possible that these were packed late and some procedures were skipped in order to speed things up, but they should be wiped clean and packed with gloved hands for hygiene purposes at least. Sounds like the store might have received a questionable batch, or that they had to be repacked- carelessly. Perhaps the originals had been damaged in shipment and the meteorites were transferred into replacement containers. Regardless, you shouldn't have fingerprints on your product.

Just a thought: maybe it was taken out of the box at the counter to show a customer who changed their mind and didn't end up purchasing it.

That's feasible, but they have testers at the counter for people to try. The powder was also on the outside of my container and on the outside of a 2nd container that the SA pulled out to show me. She opened the other box right in front of me and there was powder residue on it as soon as she removed it from the box. She didn't open the container at all. I also hadn't opened my container yet when I first saw the residue on mine.

In any event, I just don't feel comfortable keeping it with the question lingering in my mind that someone could've opened it/messed with it before me. I'd feel this way if the item cost only $2 (like picked over NYX lip pencils at Ulta), but I feel even more strongly about it for a nearly $60 item.

I've never bought any Guerlain before, and I'm thinking about possibly getting meteorites, but I'm not sure which ones to go for. I'm maybe NW10 (N1 seems to be my closest match for foundation) and often have redness in my cheeks. I am 47 years old, so not young skin, and have fairly obvious pores on my upper cheeks. I don't want anything glittery. Which meteorites would anyone recommend?

yeah, and what she said could very well be true, but i have not had that happen. I would trust your instincts above all about returning it. i think you will love the meteorites, though. I am hooked. :)

I love the Meteorites Tient Rose. I use it in the pressed version also. I am about nw10/15 as well also with some natural redness and it gives me a wonderful radiance and glow.

That's the one I thought might be best for me. Thank you for confirming my thoughts :)

Is there any real difference between the balls and the pressed version?
