MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

Got both my shipping confirmations this morning......Y-E-S!!! MAC had me nervous for 48 hours.....LOL!!!

Yay Kimibos! I leapt out of my way too conservative box and nabbed Firm Form. In addition, I got Absolute Power, Party Parrot and Strong Woman.

I don't refrigerate them. It may not make sense, but I think refrigerating them will make them spoil faster. Like as soon as I remove them from the fridge and expose them to air, they'll disintegrate.

I just keep them neatly stored in a box that's inside of another box in my closet. That way they're in a cool, dry place.

Love to see you breaking out of your box! By the way, I gave my daughter a gift using one of the gift bags you sent me. She loved it.

Stopped by the Pro store today and checked out both new collections. Decided to pick up the things I wanted from Strength first of all, since they'll likely sell out. I picked up:

Party Parrot- Exactly what I wanted it to be. Can't believe I passed on this one last year and I'm glad they brought it back.
Firm Form- Yup, once again, exactly what I wanted.

I was thinking of getting Pink Pigeon, but I opted for Candy Yum-Yum instead. I won't wear either enough to justify owning both and CYY just seemed a little more unique. Lovely colours though. Might go back for Strong Woman. I was sort of underwhelmed by it at first glance- it looked a lot like a matte version of Bust Out to me, although it's very pretty. Think I have a purple hangover since I just got two YSL purple lippies a couple of weeks ago.

I'm really glad you decided to go to the store and got your lipsticks.

There seems to be much confusion about when and where the collections will be sold and launched! But for the ability to pre-order I would be totally SOL!!!!

I tried Strong Woman with Seductive Intent in the middle, so pretty!

The MUA at the store I went to was wearing Strong Woman with Viva Glam II in the center. She said she also lined her lips with Currant or Vino lip pencil. I can't remember which one, but it was a very pretty combination.

Awesome. I wish I were able to send you one of the larger gift bags but apparently they were not as plentiful. About the lippies--they don't refrigerate them in the MAC stores either, now that I think about it---and I doubt that the permanent products move as quickly as the LE stuff that we nearly kill ourselves to get right?

Weird, I think but the Mac store in Miami told me that they won't be selling this collection until January. I was told that they only have Apres Chic and the Pressed Pigments available now. I wanted to see if Poise blush show up on NW50 skintone.

All i really wanted from this collection were Firm Form lipstick and Taupe Shape blush. My favorite MUA let me pre-order, so I also was able to do a CP for someone of Pink Pigeon and Strong Woman. That way i figured i was able to skip the on-line drama. What a relief. Otherwise i felt like i was gonna have a stroke or something from the tension and stress. My hugs to everyone who went through all that!

In addition, all i wanted from Apres Chic (also released today in the US) were Hot Chocolate lipstick and Nice & Simple Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm. To be honest, i really do want some of the truly beautiful eye shadows, but i'm assuming at least one of the colors i like will be around for a coupe more days - and if i miss out, oh, well, there will be other colors in other collections.

Still, there i was, at my local MAC to pick up my order before they opened at 10, along with two other ladies, waiting for the MUA to unlock the door. I got my pre-order bag and there was NO Strong Woman in it! I was feeling upset and a little panic-y, after having assured someone that i already had it. Fortunately they had enough in the drawer so all three of us early shoppers got one - heck, i even picked one up for myself (it's one of the reddest lipsticks i own) and Porcelain Pink MSF, after originally deciding to pass on both. Good thing i went in early!

The shop had the new Pressed Pigments out, so i did a quick swatch of several colors i was thinking about (very sheer and very sparkly). And they had the Stylish Brow in the back room, so i looked real quick. I'll be back later this week to see about those Strength eyeshadows, and to do a more focused swatching of the PP and SB collections.

I know i'll be back in this forum before the 31st, but i still want to wish everyone a happy and safe New Years!

My order shipped today and will arrive on Friday. As for Pink Pigeon, I called a Pro store and ordered it. Now I don't have to wait around for the site to be restocked.

Just going by swatches, b/c I have not seen FF in real life, but I bet Film Noir or Deep Love is going to be a close cousin if you want to check swatches of them...
