MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

Well I guess I'll end up skipping this collection seeing as Taupe Shape is shimmery. I was so excited for it too. I'll use the money for a new PRO palette.

While the sheen isn't very apparent on me, I still prefer Sculpt. It's slightly warmer, more pigmented and completely matte. If Sculpt wasn't available though, I would use Taupe Shape more often.

Nice comparative analysis! As far as Party Parrot goes, I only have MAC's Lasting Sensation, What A Blast & Entertain Me, all in the orange family. In the red family I have MAC's Beet, Redd, Throw Me A Line & Free Hand. I guess I'll need to see what works best when my Party Parrot arrives this afternoon. Am I in need of a lip pencil haul?

Yes, you need some purple and brown lip pencils! But if I had to pick one pencil to use from what you have, I would go with Beet. My next choice would be Cherry. Lasting Sensation is one of my favorite pencils and it does pair nicely with Party Parrot. However, I find that it brings out the orange/coral tones in Party Parrot and makes it even brighter. On our deeper skin tone, we'll be moving pass neon into radioactive territory.

TS was the only thing on my list too but MAC-Guy didn't think it was good for contour, and I have Coffee Walnut, so I'm skipping the whole collection.

I think I'll use the money saved for the brow collection.

I too caved and decided to get AP lipstick. I was worried because my order for the past 2 days said pending but upon checking my email this a.m. it says that it has shipped out. I laughed so hard upon reading the messages about Temptalia's swatches of this color. Her swatches and reviews tend to be way off IMO but either way i decided to order upon reading the reviews from you guys! I skipped everything else my wallet needs a rest

After seeing the swatch on T - I may have to skip Taupe Shape.  I wanted it for contouring but I hate shimmer in any cheek products, let alone a product I'd use to contour.

So we are getting the collection in Europe after all? I completely missed it and my last info was that it will not come to Europe, or if it does, just to a few countries?

I am a new MAC addict, who previously only wore nude or muted lipstick shades....but has now placed 2 orders consisting of party parrot, pink pigeon, strong woman, hot chocolate, apres chic, outrageously fun.......and I am so excited to wear them!!!!!

So I'm a little late to the party so to speak with the 2 new collections, I've been on a ban. Are either of the 2 eyeshadow quads from the Strength collection worth buying? Haven't seen much talk about them and it seems like MAC hasn't done a quad worth buying in a LONG time. Of course the other items that are interesting are sold out. Is MAC really thinking they're that "awesome" that they offer such limited quantities? This isn't meant to be a whining complaint just an observation that I don't understand the strategy. Doesn't motivate me to shop with them, so many other amazing brands out there.

The shop cook quads were great! I even liked the Tast Temptation quad. It was less sucky than some others I have seen. I liked the All Woman quad a lot.

Does one need Pink Pigeon if I have CYY (original) that doesn't get much love?

Pink Pigeon is not as bright/neon as the original CYY. I find Pink Pigeon way more wearable, especially for WOC. Iv'e only wore CYY 1-2 times, whereas Pink Pigeon has gotten way more love. So for that alone, I'd definitely say I'd grab PP if you can. HTH

I got my lipsticks yesterday and I love them all. I ended up with: FF, SW, AP and Hot Chocolate from AC. I havent been this excited about MAC lippies in a long time.
