MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

From this collection I ended up with Party Parrot, Strong Woman, and Firm Form (I already have PiPi), and I really like them all & actually feel really good about everything! I was super tempted by Absolute Power but ultimately decided to pass on it for Ronnie Red, and I'm not regretting the decision yet so horrah, this collection ended up not being too bad at all

Party Parrot can be kind of changeable, depending on what other makeup and clothing you're wearing, plus the lighting. Sometimes it looks redder on me, then sometimes pinker.

I'm so in love with Absolute Power, I'm going to be super choosy about Ronnie Red. I'm having a hard time imagining a bright cool red that'd look better on me.

So glad to see some of you getting your things. I ordered some things from the NYC store on 12/24 and I'm in California--still nothing. It's been well over a week and it's being sent from a live store, so maybe their pickup was off too. I'm trying to be patient (not my best quality!).  I wonder when I should call to see?
I ordered stuff from the NYC store on the 24th as well, and I'm in TX and haven't gotten mine yet either

which boxes? :dunno: I wear it all over and unlike some other reflective powders, I like this one a lot over foundation. It fuses really well with the foundation without leaving odd sparkles or crusty powdery stuff on top. Works great, even with cream foundation. I think we're seeing more and more finely milled, light reflective powders that aren't just all shimmer and sheen - stuff like Elude and some of the other beauty powders. I think the pearlmattes could give a similar look too depending on the right color, and even some of the newest MSFs are quite similar in coverage and sheen, like Light Year. The one thing the MCLPs have that the dry pan powders don't is that naturally wet application - like I was saying, makes it really nice over foundation without having to fuss with Fix+ and risk putting too much moisture on by accident. It doesn't make a mess - there's a shaker top and you only want to get a little bit up over the strainer at a time…helps it keep the moistness longer when you only take a little at a time from the main part of the jar. Also because of the water content it doesn't fly all over the place when you open the jar or put some on your brush. I'm sad to see these go, unless maybe they come out with something better that doesn't have the risk of over-applying like the MCLP does.
Thanks so much. I think. Now I want it, grrrrrr :)

Strong woman on my NW20 skin. Does it work? I think I like it, but need reassurance
The color is nice on you! You could try experimenting with different blush colors - maybe something peachier or browner will play up the purple more.

wow, party parrot leaves THE BEST red stain after it wears off. Literally looks like I'm wearing red lipstick. SO in love with this color

K, so update! I have to admit I wasn't as crazy as I hoped to be about Firm Form when I finally put it on. I'm a WOC about NW 45 and I had all these fantasies based on what I'd been reading from others. (leaning brown, gold sparkles, etc.) Well when it finally came in the mail and I put it on it was just meh...REALLY similar to MAC Grey Friday actually (which I'm also meh about but at least the unusual shade is worth keeping). So I was considering what to put on it to give it a little oomph...looked around my gloss collection and saw a gold gloss (semi-clear/semi-yellow) with gold flecks inside...

OMAGAH...

Girls...

Yes.

If you're not loving Firm Form then a gold gloss will really AMP the gold already present in Firm Form. On my lips Firm Form is semi-opaque so the gloss doesn't really dilute the color. In fact I think it removes the ash shade that makes it so reminiscent of Grey Friday and just BRINGS OUT all of that yummy brown.

Suffice to say my relationship with Firm Form just got serious.

Thank you for this! I'm not even sure if I will get Firm Form ( it was back ordered), but this sounds gorgeous. If I do get it, I will try pairing it with She's a Star lipglass or Goldilocks dazzleglass.

I wore AP tonight, and it's a fantastic red! Most red lipsticks look kind of severe on me, but this one doesn't at all. It might be because it's a matte texture.

HEY!!! Medgal so, finally today I took your advice and I called the pro store in Green Hills aka Nashville!!! They had both PiPi and PaPa in stock and the manager said he re-ordered more!!! He also, said "they had sold out so fast during Iris Apfel that, MAC sent him a lot this go round"

Awesome! I'm so glad you didn't give up, persevered and found a friend in Firm Form.

Finally my orders from 12/23 are coming in!

I got my Apres Chic order today as well as a side order of Strong Woman lipstick, and one single Pink Pigeon I got on a fluke when the site went glitchy and I started cycling through the add to bag and checkout process in a tizzy lol.

Tomorrow I'll get Absolute Power and All Woman quad delivered to me. I skipped Firm Form from this collection, and I did B2M and get Party Parrot and Pink Pigeon BUs, wheww.

Here's a quick lip swatch of Strong Woman, which (to my surprise) is pretty darn awesome

I wasn't much of a fan of Heroine, but I'm glad I took the plunge and decided to get Strong Woman after all! This is Strong Woman straight up, no liners, just Prep+Prime lip underneath :)

I'm wearing Poised blush which is one of my new favorites in my stash

When I'd received my original order, I'd gotten just an opened liner box along with my lippies inside the infamous black box but CS took care of it
So glad that worked out for you. They're pretty good about correcting mishaps. I once received a broken MES, I took a pic of it and sent it to the store. They immediately shipped another. Gotta love technology--we get immediate gratification and resolution!

I didn't open my AP. I ordered it by accident. Since I have Charmed I'm Sure, I'm not sure if I want to keep it. I would like a bu of Firm Form. Maybe I'll call the Nashville store in the morning.
