MAC Early Buzz - News on Products for 2013

I could never see 27 as being an old age to start having kids, but I guess I'm biased.
As for the subject in general, I'm still in high school and feel that youth is wasted on the young. Not that there isn't a point to it. It's the time of one's life where one is still technically a kid but has the body of a near adult and the hormones of someone constantly menstruating. Then, once one actually reaches adulthood, they're still in that mindset. It probably takes years for some to finally grow up, at least I would think so. (This is all speculation on my part, of course)
You're an old soul already

I started one already for 2013! I have decided to become way more selective. I even bought 2 lippies last night and canceled them after I realized I didn't need the lipsticks. I don't have a big stash by any means, but more than the average girl. I was one that was never really into Mac (because I loved Sephora) until a couple years ago, and I never bought limited edition items except maybe one or two items. I want to get back to those days where I am not looking for the next collection fix.

You might one to sprint on over to the thread, Theme Makeup With A Purpose. Your concept is there---actually embedded into monthly themed makeup that encourages maximal product utilization.

There's no reason not to enjoy MAC post 40. There are some products I choose not to wear now, but there were products I chose not to wear at 18. My look has changed over the years and I'm no longer as fond of the strong metallics I wore in my teens and early 20s (I think I used buckets of gold and bronze powders and tubes of frosty lippies), but I'm still every bit as fond of makeup.

I don't buy into 'rules' (whether they're clothing, makeup or hair related), but I do think that what looks best on us evolves over time. I certainly don't dress like my own mother, but neither do I dress like my daughter. I think women of all ages are beautiful and that youth isn't what defines beauty. What I don't think is attractive is when someone clings to a style that no longer works for them; it usually just makes them look older. Who wants to stick with one look anyway? I like mixing things up.

Forty-something isn't old. Not by a long shot.
Oh oh oh--and I don't mean the lippie! JulieDiva, I shudder to think of the number of ladies on this thread that you might have just offended. That said, I suspect most have just chuckled at your youthful ignorance---said with a beautiful post forty smile. Because I am proudly in those ranks, I can confidently say, we collect because we want to, and can afford to. Sometimes with age one not only enjoys wisdom, but perhaps even a degree of wealth. That gives us the undeniable ability to collect. Don't call us forty---call us FABULOUS!

For me it's not about actually hitting pan on my products - that's never going to happen with many of them, including blush, highlighters and eyeshadows that I'm really glad to own. For me, it's about limiting my collection to items I really enjoy and will use.
I never hauled collections until 2012 - for almost 20 years I've stuck to MAC's permanent products and have purchased duplicates of many favourite lippies. I built up my collection last year and had a lot of fun doing it, but I now have virtually everything I could imagine wanting. If a product comes out that I love and that I think is different to what I have, then I'll get it. I'm not looking to buy all the things I like in new collections though - it feels duplicative at this point. I've recently gone through everything and gifted away my buying mistakes. I don't like keeping stuff that will never get used.

My collection currently fits into one drawer, and I'm committed to keeping it this size. I know everyone will say that it shouldn't be in my bathroom, but I've stored makeup that way for 30 years and never had a problem. I do keep those moisture packets in with the products and the door is kept open in our master ensuite. It's really not a damp environment. I keep my skincare on the vanity and my F&B in the fridge - I refill a sample jar every 2-3 weeks and keep it in my drawer. My few backups are kept in my bedroom closet.

I know this is small by Specktra standards, but it's all (really more than) I need.

I agree that the Mac demographic is skewing younger, however, it might come as a shock to you that not every old lady over 30 is finding out about the makeup news via messages delivered by a passenger pigeon and some are even fairly active on social media. I don't think it's so much that we elderly types find Mac difficult to keep up with in our golden years so much as not being as interested in following trends. Now GET OFF MY LAWN.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Katred, so rude of you to just say, "GET OFF MY LAWN." More appropriately would be, "mow first, you little snot nose"....then, "GET OFF MY LAWN."

One of my kitties that I've had since he was orphaned at 5 weeks always wants to be picked up. he will stretch up and paw at your leg (as high as he can) when you lean down to pick him up he kind of grabs and pulls (like he's pulling you down). It's JUST like a little kid that wants to be picked up with hands in the air but with kitty paws. He does it when I'm cooking usually or after waking up from a long nap. He's my baby ^_^

HA! I'm the exact opposite. I'm almost 23, and for the last couple years I've been very specific in what I want in a guy: 30 and up. (With a few exceptions.) I ADORE older men. There's just something about that experience they have that you can't put a price on. (Though I wonder how I'll feel when I actually hit 30. XD)
I always tell my husband it's a good thing we met when we did- no way would I have EVER dated him when he was younger. He was soooo immature. I met him when he was 26 (we are almost 5 yrs apart) and even then he was still pretty immature. I'd say you've got it right! Most men if they plan on growing up, have done so by 30. There are always exceptions and always 40 year olds that shouldn't even be trusted with a cactus hehe, but for the most part, older men don't play games and BS like a lot of college guys.

Guuuuurl, it's like we have the same mind. LOL 20-aged somethings can keep their drunken BS. I'll take the grown men any day.
