MAC Fashion Sets 2013 Collection (April 2013)

I just awoke from my pre-stalking stupor...and, umm...a couple of lipglosses that were not on my short list and an e/s from the year of the snake somehow landed in my bag right before checkout.

That's why I ordered it. I felt that it would be unique enough to my collection. I don't have very many orange/coral matte finish lipsticks. So, I'm excited for it to get here!

Exactly. I don't know how it's going to look on me but it's a beautiful color. In the end I was like eff it, I'll get it because it's probably the least dupeable of the collection.

In hindsight, it's pretty cold blooded of MAC to release such a highly anticipated collection basically in the middle of the night like that. They have got to come up with a better and consistent system for releasing collections. Doesn't seem like any of their strategies are in the interest of the customers.

agreed. i am still getting sucked into MAC's wicked game. i stayed up until 2:30. maybe if the hype dies down in a week, i'll grab one on ebay as MAC won't sell me one, no one on Makeup alley will swap or OA/CP for one, and I don't have enough posts yet to get into the clearance bin here. so whatevs. i'll def try the instores...unless MAC decides to pull a BS move like pulling the collex from non-MAC stores the day before. also, if you're on here talking about the 6 lippies you bought; well then you suck. plain and simple. i can see a backup or even 2-4 especially if you're a makeup artist. but makeup goes bad. even if you wear a color everyday; i don't see how you can use up that much before it turns bad. rant over. responsible, polite purchasers: enjoy your haul! xo.

I can't believe Ablaze is still available. I guess it's all about the pinks and purples this season. I think I might order a back up since it's still sitting there. I'll get WAY more use out this color than the other colors. I love me some orangey coraly colors! Especially for spring and summer!

I'm thinking of doing the same, lol! Orange anything usually looks pretty good against my skin, so I'm seriously tempted to grab a back-up now just in case. :/

In a perfect world MAC would do better on these releases but, unfortunately, this is just how they roll. It all depends on whose working on the site and when THEY decide to release it. MAC is more interested in what colors will sell and how fast they will sell out. Not so interested in when they will be live on the site. Just my

I was able to get most of the items that I wanted: ablaze ls/ll/lg, em lg, and silly lg. I also wanted heroine lg (I have heroine ls from last launch), but it was already sold out when I checked. I was able to find the Maybelline dupe for heroine lg, so I will try to be happy with that.

Lipstick "snow"? What happened?

I have 11 Lustre lipsticks, and all of them except for 2 developed the white "snow" coating. I've had them all for less than a year. It turns out that the lipsticks are still fine to use, but it shocked me into thinking about my collection going bad. Then I pictured having to throw them all out.

On top of that, there's always a never ending cycle of new colors and new formulas being released from multiple brands. It became too much. I have absolutely no plans to stop buying makeup, but I have changed how I buy it.

Don't give up. I know it sucks when you stayed up so late and still missed what you wanted. They will have everything online and hopefully between one of the department stores online you will be able to get what you want.

I agree with you and BU thing. I have a strict policy on backing up makeup. I have done it exactly one time (for whisper of guilt) and I figured it's a powder, so it will be alright for awhile in storage. Mac has so many new exciting things coming out all the time that I can't justify buying a bunch of one lipstick.

Orange and Coral flatter my NW15 skintone really well. One of my favorite colors to sport during the seasons. I love me some pinks and purples too but, I tend not to grab those as often.

I did. People love pinks. That, and the fact Ablaze is a bold/unusual color....some will be hesitant. I bet a lot of people will end up with skipper's remorse in the end over Ablaze.
