MAC All About Orange Collection (June 2013)

I would not say all MAC MUAs are snobs. I have met my share of the sweetest MAC MUAs but sometimes the few mean ones can ruin it. Based on my "childish" looks, there are times I am usually ignored at the counter. One of the MUAs once referred to me as a "little girl" and it was not in a friendly way. Like everywhere, there will always be nice people just as there will be mean people. I still got respect for them, they must deal with their share of horrible customers.

Same with me, I've always had good experiences when I've gone to my local counters at the Dillards, Nordstrom and Macy's. I don't live too close to a free standing store, so I don't know how they are at the one here; but at the counters they have always been very helpful, patient and friendly. I wish everyone had the same experiences I have had when I've gone and almost feel guilty about it when I read about other people's customer service nightmares.
I know--it's like survivor's guilt!!!!

Thank you for doing this. The whole limited release situation is really getting out of hand - not only online but also in stores.

On a fluke I was able to get my products from this collection. I say on a fluke because I just happened to check the MAC site when everything went live. A few minutes later I would have been SOL. I don't have ample time to invest in stalking a website, nor do I want to spend my evenings refreshing the MAC site. Plus I work most days and can never go to counters on release days in time to get any of the "hot" products. Top this all off with the extremely sketchy presale policy that seems to change at a moments notice, it is annoying. This will probably continue, however, as long as people buy their products. So we are most likely stuck with this until it affects the company's bottom line.
I'm going to offer an explanation for the low quantities that I think I may have mentioned a few months back, but here it goes: I heard from the manager at one of my local MAC counters that the company started producing fewer quantities of the LE products because they had so much that they didn't sell out of back in 2011 or so. Sell-through is a big thing in retail, and having so much leftover product hurt MAC's profits, since those leftovers got sent to CCOs and such. So they decided to produce smaller quantities of LE stuff because it was a safer bet that it would sell out that way than if they produced larger quantities of it. Is this a satisfactory explanation? Not really. But I'm hoping it means that if enough people tell MAC how frustrated they're becoming by the low amounts of stock, maybe they will see that everyone would be happier if they would bump it up a notch again.

Hey, if people's obsession over CYY was enough for MAC to make it permanent, I'm sure they'll get the message about their LE collection stock issues eventually! Wishful thinking?

Then regrettably Makeupgrrl, you have never read any of my posts related to this matter. My experience has been just the opposite and I've shared that many times. I'm fortunate enough to live near a MAC store in which ALL of the MUAs/SAs are fantastic. I wish all MAC lovers could have this same experience. That said, as good as they are, I too have witnessed customers being rude to even them. It's a most unfortunate circumstance that flows both ways.
Thank you, MG, for bringing balance back into the world. I have encountered both very sweet and very rude people on both ends of the interaction (MUAs/customers). It has nothing to do with MAC SAs...there are just a lot of really rude people in the world in general...and a lot of really sweet ones too! And that is all I will say on the topic, except that I think everyone should follow the old "treat others as you would like to be treated" rule and hopefully you will get it in return.

I feel like I need my own PBS special or something, lol.

Erine, there seems to be something so interesting with RS, the swatches look so smooth and poreless. Do you find that to be the case? Or am I talking myself into this shade?
SO FREAKING SMOOTH! ::cloud9:
I contacted the Mac counter at Belk's in Charlotte and was told by the Manager that one can NOT B2M for these lippies. I was going to do 4 so I guess now I have to buy them.
That sucks! :(
:crybaby: Oh you two-timing trollop:crybaby:
I think it's more like four-timing, no? :haha:

I totally agree! "Treat others as you would like to be treated" should be high on the priority list of standards to live by, but unfortunately it isn't a lot of times. I have often wondered do some people treat others in their lives the way they treat SA's, or does common courtesy just get tossed when you walk into a makeup counter. Respect and courtesy goes both ways, being rude, snippy, dismissive are never ok ways to treat anyone.

I never said that everyone talked negatively about SA's on Specktra, however I just wanted to give some perspective from the other side to balance it out a bit. I have read awesome stories of SA's who have shown great customer service and who look out for their customers here. I have shopped at places where I have felt ignored, or been treated rudely, and I am the type of person that has no tolerance for it so I choose to shop somewhere else when that happens (either another counter, or another brand all together). The truth is no one likes to be treated badly, or feel ignored, or belittled...I just think customers should also keep this in mind when dealing with SA's as well.

Getting back on topic, I am super excited about getting my goodies tomorrow! I ordered Flamingo, Sushi Kiss, Sweet and Sour, and Honey Jasmine blush. I am still debating on the quad, although it looks lovely I don't tend to wear greys to often.

erine1881 you were so right about ripe for love (just ordered a backup, it's amazing). which of the AAO blushes do we need?
I think RS is nice, just not a standout colour. I'm not super keen on pinks, but if you gravitate towards them, it's a good one. HJ and IF (as was the first round) are the stars of the blushes!
