Just got back from Chanel; finally saw all shades in person. #60 looks a lot lighter than I expected; the undertones definitely make all the difference in their appearance in pan, but on the skin, they are so sheer it is easy to get away with more than one shade.

I already have #70 and it was so hard not to walk away with #60 just because it was so darn pretty! It's a light, rosy bronze, as Elegant described. So lovely. The undertone doesn't match my skintone, but I could get away with it in the winter when I'm lighter. #70 just seemed the closest match to me, due to the fact that it is somewhat neutral.

What I did walk away with, however, is the kabuki brush

Shontay-- the Chanel boutiques have released this collection in store today. I don't know about other retailers, though. I went to the Chanel on Spring St in Soho; the Chanel on the upper East side (57th st I think) has this in store also.

Well, well, well. It seems the universe wanted to play a joke on me this morning. Went to my local mall and hit Saks first. Asked the MUA if it was on sale and she said yes. Told her I'll take #60. She looked and looked, had another MUA help her, went to the back, came back to me and said ooooh we actually don't have it yet. I was raging inside, but I just smiled and left. Went to Bloomingdales, Macy's, Nordstroms and they all have the display, but not the product. So, my last resort was Neiman Marcus. It's at the other end of the mall (I call Narnia) and I didn't feel like walking over there to be disappointed, but I did. I asked the lady if they had it and she said yes. I slapped the counter and praised the lord. She laughed at me and she said we're the only ones that have it right? Damn, finally. OK, now to the powder. I rushed home to try it because I wasn't wearing anything besides the Chanel liquid bronzer. Honestly, I don't know what to think of it. I'm worried I didn't pick the best shade. Perhaps #40 actually would've been better. #60 seemed a bit red(?) and that's definitely not my undertone. It didn't read that way when swatched on my hand, though. When I looked at my brush after application I was struck by how red the bristles were. It looked more like a blush than a face powder/foundation. Also, I'm experiencing some irritation. My skin is a mess right now. Last night I was too reckless in trying to exfoliate and I've broken my skin a bit. So, that plus I think the liquid bronzer interfering may be the cause of my hesitation to say this is a keeper. I'm going to try again in another day or two. I'll give my skin time to recover and I won't use anything other than moisturizer on my face so that color of the powder won't be changed. I took pictures with the powder on and I look fine, but I can't help but feel that powder made my face a bit darker. I'm thinking #40's undertone seemed to suit me better. I'll have to see.

^^I bet a lighter, more neutral shade (like #40) could've worked. 50 seemed sorta neutral too, or at least not at all pink like some of the other shades

#60 definitely had pink undertones in it. It was so pretty though. Lol

#50 seems to have this kind of gray effect on me when I swatched it. I don't know, just strange. I'm thinking #60 would be a nice blush. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure I'll find myself right back at Neiman's tomorrow trying on #40. I don't want to have to exchange again.

you so crack me up girl.

Shontay....I REALLY want you to find the right shade for you & love this powder! I think its really all about finding the right undertone for your skin to make this work. NYCBJ may be right, the lighter shade may be better. 60 def. has that rose bronze undertone which is perhaps better for some color rather than an over-all face powder...I dunno.

Wow Shontay---I'm glad you walked away with the product, and I hope it works for you. I've worn #70 for two days now and I really like it---a lot. It does make me look a tad tan but not necessarily darker. I know that makes no sense but that's the best I can do trying to explain it. When I put the compact side by side with MAC MSF Natural and Refined Golden Bronzer it appeared darker than the MSF (Dark) but almost identical, (sans the sparkle) to Refined Golden. After I applied the powder I wanted to see how RG worked with it and low & behold the RG showed up as per usual. Go figure??? I think it has to do more with the formula and one's undertones. Here's photos of me wearing the powder yesterday. I tried comparing them to other recent photos and there is a slight difference but I'm not sure it's in the coloring/tone.

Well NYCBJ I feel so much better now. Your assessment makes sense---it's about the undertones. I haven't seen #60 in person but the likely difference between # 60 and # 70 has to be the undertones. The final test will be my husband & daughter

I totally agree Elegant. I debated between 60 & 70, and 70 just seems better for my undertones. I'll have to check 60 in person to confirm our theory!!

I forgot to mention how awesome this powder smells? What did they put in it? Love and fairy dust. Wouldn't it be crazy if #50 is my match. It looks so dull in the pan, but who knows? Like I said before I'll just go in without make up and see what happens. I WILL find my match because I love this formula.

I am so sad. Chanel canceled my order. I wondered why I didn't get my powder today. I didn't get a cancellation notice or anything. I logged onto Chanel.com and looked under my order history and it just said "Canceled".

Edit:
So I went into my account and it had the previous les beiges order on "Replenish every 30 days", which I didn't opt for -- but they canceled it anyways. I think they had an old expiration date for my credit card -- even though I have tried to update it a few times.
I just re-ordered it, so we'll see what happens. It will take a week now to get to me, tho ;(

My marshmallow brush finally came. It so soft and dense. I tried it with my MSFN and it's perfect. I'm still trying to resist the powders. How do the Chanel powders compare to Mac MSFN?

Nope, I don't think the powder is like MSF or really anything else. Its in a league of its own for sure & I have a gazzillion powders

Bummer! I think it's odd that they didn't just send a notice for you to update your account info. I've found that web site to be a little wonky & unfriendly at times. I hope it works out this time.

Enjoy your brush!!! You're 'Powderprincess' why would you even try to resist these powders. I agree w/Elegant. There's no comparing MSFN & Les
Beiges with regards to their formulas. They are two totally different products.
Oh Michelle, I feel so bad for you

Maybe if you called them, they would have shipped it quicker...who knows what happened geesh

The Chanel brush.... Oh My Goodness. It's pure love, especially when using it with the Les Beiges powder. So glad I decided to just get it.

I'm test driving #60 today after test driving #70 yesterday (Yes, like a fiend, I went back and bought #60 anyway). There really isn't that great a difference between the two once on my face. Yesterday, once my skin's oil mixed with the powder, #70 made my face look darker/very tan. And I'm already tan from this summer's heat wave, lol. Waiting to see how #60 winds up, but I actually think it may be doing the same thing... I look like I have more color in my face, if that makes any sense. My skin looks a bit "rosier" due to the undertone, but not red or off at all. It's like a slightly lighter effect of what #70 did to my face yesterday.

Considering that, I may just return #70 or keep it as a bronzer of some sort... but #60 will more than likely be my all over face powder and maybe used as a light bronzer/warmth color in the winter around the perimeter. I kinda wanna test drive #50 but like Shontay said, when I swatched it on my hand, it was kinda gray! Many reviews I've seen from lighter skin tones seem to be loving it as a neutral bronzer of sorts.
