Guerlain discussion

I'm definitely interested in Provocative. I'm curious to see how different Reflex is, since they look almost identical in the photo. A "subtly sparkling plum" seems to have my name stamped all over it, although the last thing I need is another shade in that family.

I'm not sure. It is very different, but I don't necessarily get "cheap". I think it seems like a real sideways leap for Guerlain, who I normally think of as more conservative and restrained, but part of me kind of gets a kick out of the sort of disco kitsch of it. It's like watching the most buttoned-down person in an office get drunk and dance on a table at the Christmas party or something.
I'm curious too, if they are identical no one would need both of them. I think Reflex is a touch brighter.

I love how the scent body spray bottle looks, very girly, but I hope it doesn't look toy-like in real. I want the UV top coat! I'm unsure about the eyeshadow palette. It does look appealing to me and I don't own any eyeshadow palette from Guerlain other than Les Perles and one of the older quads.

Plum lipstick and the polishes for me. I like the look of the pressed powder but I don't think I'll get it.

have been a G bronzer/meteorites user FOREVER but just starting looking at the G eyeshadows.........

1. of the purple eye quads - les violets or attrape couer which one do y'all prefer? i just picked up chanel's fatal cream shadow and would love some more purple shadows to go with it

2. is G's turnadot too close to chanel's harmonie du soir to have both?? i keep my eye make up very simple for the most part so i would never use both if they are even remotely close....

3. how do G shadows compare to other brands? everyone seems to go bananas over tom ford, are his quads/trios really that much better overall?

the first G quad i picked up was turnadot, i usually stick with the chanel special limited editions as in pearl river quint, delicatasse, topkapi not the regular limited editions.....i also use the C cream shadows a lot.......

thank you for any help!!

I much, much prefer G to TF eyeshadows.
Texture and allergies determine my choice, as I've yet to have an allergic reaction to any G eye product, yet have found myself obliged to give away TF palettes due to those allergies.
I might add I can't use MAC, YSL or Dior eye products, so my opinion may be extreme.

These are just my opinions, but for what it's worth...

1. I find that Attrape-Coeur is a little more practical. There's a greater range of tones, which makes it easy to use all the shades together, without reaching for something else. Les Violets is lovely, but most of the colours fall into the mid-tone range, so there's not as much flexibility to them. I think you'd always have to include at least one colour from outside the palette with Les Violets.

2. I find that they're different enough. They look quite different in use- more so than they do swatched. I bought both and have never regretted the decision.

3. In general, I find them extremely impressive. They're extremely long-wearing and resist creasing . The colours don't tend to get muddy on the eye, which I appreciate. I do find that I have to go easy on the frost finishes, because they can apply fairly heavily, but they blend out nicely as well. Definitely among my very favourites and the value for their 4-shadow palettes is not bad at all for a prestige brand.

Seeing pics of the lipsticks I think I can say this collection's a pass for me. It's a shame because I love the packaging but the colors just aren't my type/I have similar shades already. I know it's like overdone but I really like golds and reds for the holiday collections I was never big on pinks lol
