Armani had a F&F sale (20% off) this year around June I believe. They also just had 15% off for a limited time. Keep an eye out and you'll be able to try them at a discount. Temptalia.com is a good place to keep up with beauty sales/offers.Thanks, I guess I will just need to try lots of stuff to see what works best. I never tried armani or chanel lipsticks, but the medium/low end stuff I tried were just ok, so I definitely have to give them a try! =)
I realized they don't have them on sephora, what a bummer

40 hours and it was still squishy in the middle. 48 hours and it's hardened much more, but still not completely hard like it was when I got it. I knew it! My mom thought that was a bunch of nonsense but I know higher end products work better for me. There is a reason why neutrogena breaks me out but ole henriksen doesn't!

That's how my Mom is. That's how a lot of people are because they want to believe that expensive stuff is no better than drugstore items, which is generally not true. I do have drugstore items I like, such as the Maybelline Color Tattoos, but they are much lower quality than my Armani Eyes to Kill shadow. I used to think that high end mascaras weren't better than drugstore, but my Chanel Volume is the best I've ever used. I think this sale is a great time to experiment with mid-range or high-end products. NARS and Urban Decay were my gateways, and there are tons of awesome brands in all price ranges on Sephora.

OMG, story of my life. While I do pick up drug store mascaras because it's convenient, they can't hold a candle to my dior show mascara; maybeline makes my lashes look good but dior show makes me look like I'm wearing falsies, it's a beautiful thing. I wish drugstore products had the same quality that higher end products do, but that is just not the case.

Thinking of getting YSL's Baby Doll mascara during the VIB sale. I don't think I would ever pay full price for it, but I've been curious about it, so this might be a good time to try it out. Has anyone tried this mascara? Any insight on how it compares to Benefit's They're Real or MAC's In Extreme Dimension?

I love this mascara! I received a sample in one of the Nordstrom Beauty gifts. I just wish it was available in waterproof. I don't have the Benefit or MAC ones so I can't compare, but it separates the lashes very nicely. It's not clumpy and doesn't have a weird smell like some mascaras (I'm looking at you, MAC Opulash).

No it's not, and drugstore prices seem to keep going up. I considered picking up one of the Maybelline purple lipsticks that came out this fall, but it was somewhere in the $8-$10 range. For that, I might as well save a little longer and get a UD Revolution lipstick, since I know I like the formula. I treasure my HE items a little more because I had to work longer to get them. Of course, this means I only keep what I love, and I have no problem returning unloved items to Sephora!

I received my second sephora haul...such gorgeous stuff. Only issue, my OCC minis leaked in the bag....so I'm going to return it at a sephora store today.

I ABSOLUTELY love YSL's babydoll mascara! It lengthens and thickens and all the above for me! Lol I received it in a Nordies sample awhile ago and I fell in love. I like it better than Benefit's they're real because of the brush difference. Babydoll is a little smaller and I can apply top and bottom without clumping or hitting my lid/ smudging. It's less clumpy IMO. It is damn pricey though and some reviews say that the tube dries out fast. I've had my full size for about a week now though so no problems so far! Wish you had a sample of it because it's sure love

Mascara is the one item I have absolutely no brand loyalty or preference with. Same, I love deluxe freebies from sephora lol I never manage to finish the fullsize mascara. I bought the Lancome ones and they didn't make my lashes look like the advertisment they had for it, so yeah, disappointed <.<
Actually I cant really buy drugstore quality stuff, cos majority has fragrance in it which I'm allergic to, or parabens, so yeah ^^;
But also most Dior, Lancome, etc products are perfumed, sigh, at least sephora has huge selection of brands so I can choose easily.

Oh, I didnt try that one, may give it a try, next year I will be buying the Sephora favorites, because right now I have enough mascara samples to last a year lolWish I could open that article! :/ I don't have a brand preference for mascara when I can't spend on mascara I grab Rimmeltheir mascaras. But I just bought the Sephora favorites mascara sampler so I should be good for AWHILE lol. I'm curious, which Lancôme mascara did you try? Anything other than Difinicils or le' extreme is a bust IMO...

You can pay more than $100 an ounce for a wrinkle cream that promises to erase the years from your face, but spending a few bucks on a good sunscreen is probably a better investment, new research shows.
Those "breakthrough" anti-wrinkle creams now dominating department store cosmetics counters don't really work all that well, shows a Consumer Reports investigation that compares wrinkle creams. And neither do their less pricey drugstore counterparts.
Investigators found no correlation between price and effectiveness in the wrinkle creams they tested. One of the cheapest -- Olay Regenerist -- performed slightly better than the rest.
But none of the tested brands produced dramatic results in terms of reducing wrinkles.
"The fact is that using these products isn't going to make you look like the models in their ads, unless you are 27-years-old and have no wrinkles to begin with," says Nancy Metcalf, a senior projects editor at Consumer Reports.
Study Compares Wrinkle Creams
Americans now spend more than $1 billion a year on antiaging skin products, but most have no idea if there is any scientific basis for claims the products make.
In their first-ever investigation to compare wrinkle creams, Consumer Reports investigators tested nine products, ranging in price from $38 to $335.
Light-skinned women between the ages of 30 and 70 used the creams as recommended by the manufacturers on one side of their face for 12 weeks, while using a moisturizer with sunscreen on the other side.
Each cream was tested by at least 17 women.
An optical device designed to measure minute changes in wrinkle depth and skin roughness was used to evaluate the creams' effectiveness.
Photos were also taken of the crow's feet area of the women's faces before, during, and immediately after participation in the study.
Finally, study participants were evaluated by specially trained technicians, as well as being asked about their satisfaction with the face cream they used.
The investigation found only slight improvements overall in wrinkles for any of the tested products.
But each product performed better for some women than for others.
At $57 for the cream, lotion, or serum, Olay Regenerist was the top performing product, followed by Lancome Paris Renergie, at $176, and RoC Retin-Ox+, at $135.
One of the worst performing products, La Prairie Cellular, was also one of the most expensive, at $335 for an ounce of day cream and 1.7 ounces of night cream.
Active Ingredient Didn't Matter
Investigators found little relationship between the active ingredients in the products and their overall performance.
That surprises Florida dermatologist Susan Weinkle, MD, who tells WebMD that the active ingredient in a wrinkle cream is the most important factor in how it works.
Weinkle is an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of South Florida and a spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology.
She says products that contain the vitamin A derivative retinol do seem to have some effect on existing wrinkles. Retinol-based products are weaker versions of the prescription wrinkle cream Retin-A.
However, both the poorest performer in the Consumer Reports test, RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle, and one of the best performers, RoC Retin-Ox, have retinol as their active ingredient.
Weinkle says antioxidant-based products, like those containing vitamin C, green tea, or copper, may help prevent wrinkles, but they won't banish those that already exist.
For existing wrinkles, products containing hexapeptides or pentapeptides as their active ingredient may help, she says.
Olay Regenerist is a pentapeptide-based product, but so was one of the poorer performers in the test, StriVectin-SD.
Weinkle agrees that price has little to do with effectiveness when it comes to antaging skin products.
"Just because you pay more doesn't mean you are getting more," she says. "You really have to look at the ingredients."
She adds that wearing a sunscreen every day will do more to prevent new wrinkles than any face cream on the market.
"Wrinkling comes from ultraviolet light, so you can use expensive wrinkle creams until the cows come home," Weinkle says. "But they aren't going to do much good if you don't protect your face from sun damage."

Thanks for the thoughts! Looks like I'll have to try it out for sure. I mainly was drawn to it because I realized thatthe only mascaras I like have similar brushes, and the Baby Doll brush fits into that category. They're Real is almost my perfect mascara...I just wish it had a touch more drama to it.I love this mascara! I received a sample in one of the Nordstrom Beauty gifts. Do you have the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows? I'm wondering if there's a quality difference across those, Lancome's Color Design Infinite 24h eyeshadow, and the Armani ETK Intense Eyeshadow. The products all seem to be the same thing and L'Oreal owns them all, so I'm curious.

I haven't tried those yet. The only ETK I have is Rose Popillia, and I adore it. I've never seen a color like that before.
