Can anyone help me out with this -- I love my Studio Fix Powder foundation for a matte look but the last couple of times I've worn it it has looked kind of chalky. Today after I put it on I sprayed liberally with Fix Plus and it didn't help.

Any suggestions or do I just have to give it up?

Thanks.
I'm thinking that it looks off the last couple of times you've worn it because the weather is turning cold and your skin is drying out, which makes the powder look all the more obvious. Hydrating it with a good moisturizer beforehand really helps. Using Fix+ afterwards also works, but do you stipple with the 187 when your face is still wet? Spritzing and then stippling helps to tone down the powdery appearance even more than just spritzing only.
Good idea to do the Fix plus and stipple right away. And i think you and Syd may be right I need more moisture for this time of year.

Thank you.

Msfn in light is really light! Every other mac powder or foundation I've tried has been too dark or looked orange on me but this powder is beautiful!
I am between 15 & 20, neutral, and MSFN Light was a little too light for me. I wear Light Plus, so Light may well be worth a try for you.

After seeing the promo pics, I'm thinking "Close Contact" will be the lipstick I get. It doesn't look as pale as I thought it did so it -should- work on me. Now to wait. =P

Gosh I just can't wait for this collection to come out. I love ED blushes. I may need to bu At Dusk and get the new ones too. :)

I have good skin and don't really need foundation but I've tried MSFN on it's own and the finish is too powdery for my liking. I prefer to use a bb cream, tinted moisturiser, face and body or a different dewy foundation and powder the t-zone lightly with MSFN.
You might want to try the Careblend powder instead - very nice, light coverage that adds dimension to the face, without being heavy feeling or drying. I swear by it - it's much easier to get a daytime casual effect with it than MSFN, which I find is heavier and more formal.

I did always use MSFN before Careblend came out, but now I'm a Careblend girl all the way. The only thing I love better is Elude BP in the winter!

Careblend actually has more coverage than MSFN. Tis true.

Sweet. I've heard it's better for touch ups in the day too?
Both Careblend and MSFN can be used for touchups. It's just that MSFN doesn't travel well (no puff and super powder fallout in the compact). It all just depends on the coverage and finish you want as to which powder to use.

I wasn't able to go to the mall last weekend to checkout MSFN but I did stumble upon Studio Careblend in my stash ( I did not even recall buying this...MAC fairy left it?). I used it today by lightly brushing it all over my face with a 134 brush and then applied At Dusk with a 128 brush that I received recently. There is a difference in how the blush appears! I feel so dumb for applying it on my bare face now *hangs head*. Also I hope I am using the right brush in applying the powder!
Hopefully I WILL buy MSFN this week since I am going back home for the holidays tomorrow, YAY!
Thank you Erine for the help, I would have been clueless! And thank you everyone for sharing your opinions!

This collection sings to me, I can see a decent haul coming from this. The colour names all make me think of the book "The Silver Metal Lover" by Tanith Lee. Is it sad that my tanith-lee-fan-ishness makes me want these even more just cause of names?? lol!

I thought it was just me on the fallout with MSFN. Now I know I'm not crazy or scraping the hell out of my compact lol.

Is MSFN ok for a normal-to-oily skin ? I'm so clueless about all these powders :poke:
It works perfectly fine, just know the finish isn't ideal for oily skin, as it has a natural/demi-satin finish.

You're not alone. I swear there's little critters that kick up a powder storm while it sits in my drawer overnight. I pull it out in the morning and there's powder everywhere!
