violetta is up on the site as out of stock, shipping soon. so i hope they don't put this in her collection again. whatever red she is wearing in the trailer is a must. she looks amazing.
I agree with you about how if your work somewhere you should have some knowledge to be able to help customers but I've worked at walmart before and I took my job seriously and actually helped people. Not everyone that works at walmart is lazy. I always made sure I helped out customers to the best of my ability. Not saying that there aren't people that work at walmart aren't lazy cause I knew plenty of them. I just think there's no specific job that's for lazy people. If you don't want to work then don't get a job. Simple as that. Some sephora girls are extremely rude! I went in for samples one day and walked up to a girl with two skincare and two foundations, The girl was like "uh, we only can give three samples. but i'll give you these" So I said isn't it 3 per world? she replied " NO! it's three samples a week" oookay girlfriend! did the policy change overnight? Do you check your cameras nightly to see who got samples? she gave me samples that only had one use each out of them. That and they NEVER match me right. I match myself. They act better than thou cause they work there but in honestly they don't know a thing. also, I have the hardest time getting any help. I understand retail I know they probably take sh*t on the daily. But that's no excuse to act the way they do.That being said some sephora ladies are super awesome! depends on the store. And I don't ask for any help at sally's! some of them don't know the difference between a protein mask and deep conditioner, let alone any knowledge of hair coloring. I agree with you ladies! if people are to lazy to learn their jobs, They should just go work at walmart. Let people with the thirst for knowledge have their jobs.
Very true! Most times it's not even them being lazy. Some ladies just don't know and can't learn about EVERYTHING in the store lol. After working for Nordstrom and Sephora I learned to cut these girls some slack because I NEVER got sent to a training even after 6+ months. Everything I knew I learned from reading blogs and stalking here so I was somewhat prepared. Surprisingly, these companies hire girls who sometimes have zero makeup or skincare knowledge. If they can afford it they'll send you to training. If you're diligent you'll learn a few tidbits from the brand ambassadors who drop by from time to time. Or try things out for yourself. Sometimes it is the lack of effort or will to learn. But most times these SAs are clueless because these companies don't care to educate you on what you're selling. They don't necessarily care about product knowledge. They just need people who have the look and personality to work in retailI agree with you about how if your work somewhere you should have some knowledge to be able to help customers but I've worked at walmart before and I took my job seriously and actually helped people. Oh no! I didn't mean that just because someone works at Wal-mart, that they are lazy. I've worked there before when I was younger too, its 50/50 there. Some workers did the job that they were paid to do, others goofed off. I more or less was saying if a person wants to work in the beauty industry but doesn't want to take the time to learn about products, techniques. They should work in basic retail not specialty. Some SAs in sephora Just want the title without the work. Sorry if that came across as offensive. wasn't intended too.I agree with you about how if your work somewhere you should have some knowledge to be able to help customers but I've worked at walmart before and I took my job seriously and actually helped people. That's exactly what I'm getting too, Some companies are way to cheap to educate their employees. But being in a position where your main focus is helping customers with makeup/skincare. You would think a person would want to brush up on some knowledge. Especially with so many outlets available now for obtaining said knowledge. If a customer walks into a beauty/cosmetics store and asks for help on a product how is the employee going to best take care of the customer if they don't know a thing. And the majority of the customers who are asking for help is someone who is looking for that knowledge.
A more knowledgeable/hardworking employee is going to give the company a better rep VS. an employee who isn't.

I'm sorry it wasn't wasn't intended too! If you have read anything I have said I said SOME SA not all. Every store is different as every employee is different You get laziness and you get hardworkers in EVERY company. Some stores have better staff and some don't. Some girls in the stores in my state are amazingly helpful/ others could care less to help you. Isn't that what retail/customer service is all about taking care of the customer? I don't expect a SA to give me the downlow of every single product but if a employee can't tell me the basic things like what foundations are better for dry VS oily skin cause that is something so easily learned by even asking another employee. It's 101 right there. How can an employee truly help a customer if they can't pinpoint a matte foundation over a creme? I wouldn't expect them to give me an entire essay on every band and their benefits. I mean basics. If I walked up to an associate and asked about what foundation is better for my dry skin and she didn't know and escorted me to another associate who knew I would hope that other associate would kind of shadow (if the said associate isn't working on a project at the time) so they can learn as well so the next time a customer asked the same question they would know. Why be in the beauty industry if you don't want to learn.I work at Sephora and I do take offense. There is no one I work with at my store that "just want the title without the work". It's not a glamorous job. It's hard work. There are so many products in the store that are constantly changing due to revamps, new releases throughout all the seasons. There is no way every SA is going to know every single product up, down, all around. We sell over 100 brands, times that by all the products sold for each line. You are being unrealistic and harsh in your assessment. If there is something that a SA doesn't know, they go to the person who is more "in the know" of the product in question. It happens this way in numerous industries across the board.
This is the Maleficent thread and I think people are only starting to go off on other subjects because there is no new news on the collection to report yet.Is there a thread here on Specktra that is focused solely on news regarding the Maleficent collection? This forum is a tremendous resource for people trawling the Internet for leaks and updates, but at a certain point it's not even that time-saving if the thread fills up with a lot of unrelated discussion.
I understand about makeup counter people not being helpful at times but I blame the management and the companies more than the employees. They need to stop hiring salespeople to fill spots and take time and get real artists; But I don't agree that the problem is always that they're too lazy to learn products. I can't speak for sephora, but I have known people who were hired at MAC and thrown out into the store without going to their basic starter class or an update course for months. Their demos to get hired consisted of a sales pitch thing and applying basic makeup. It was also based heavily on how they looked. Once I found that out, I understood why sometimes the newbies and freelancers don't have as many application skills/techniques or know mac products as well. Now, that's Mac where there's only one brand. Sephora would drive me crazy having to learn all that stuff that comes and goes from all those brands. I give them a slight pass for that alone. Some sephora girls are extremely rude! Very true! it's easy to go off topic when nothing new is out to report, but as soon as there is, People will be spilling it.This is the Maleficent thread and I think people are only starting to go off on other subjects because there is no new news on the collection to report yet.
I totally agree with you! Not everyone is going to know everything and companies do hire to fill spots. I'm talking more per say when I see a person unwilling to learn. If the person doesn't know. Cool, but that person should also take the time to learn. Asking other employees, looking things up. That's an aspect in all jobs is learning.I can't speak for sephora, but I have known people who were hired at MAC and thrown out into the store without going to their basic starter class or an update course for months. I think what I'm looking for is a thread that will notify me only if there is news. This is the Maleficent thread and I think people are only starting to go off on other subjects because there is no new news on the collection to report yet.
Mhhhm Mhhhm! we probably won't hear much on this til next month or April. Unless someone comes along and spills the beans. But with how long the FOF color story took to come out. You never know with Mac:/Very easy. lol. I usually just keep an eye out for a thread to really explode before I get super excited, then you know something good has been released. Most of the time anyway. lol
That's what I'm thinking as well, that MAC will keep it wrapped up for as long as possible which will in turn slowly drive all of us completely bonkers. I'm really hoping one of the colour story angels comes along soon though.Mhhhm Mhhhm! we probably won't hear much on this til next month or April. Unless someone comes along and spills the beans. There's not. You can go to your subscriptions and edit them to not get alerted. These are active forums where people have been talking to each other for years. When a forum is slow it's easy to talk about other things, especially when a lot of people here have become makeup "friends". A good way to know if there's news is just to look at the first page periodically, when there's news it generally gets posted there.I think what I'm looking for is a thread that will notify me only if there is news. I mean, no one has a gun to their heads being forced to meet a postcount quota on this thread. Sometimes, silence is golden. Chitchat can happen anywhere. In the interests of avoiding hypocrisy, this will be my only reply on this subject.
And no one has a gun to their head to be silent either, at least I would hope not.I think what I'm looking for is a thread that will notify me only if there is news.
