Perfection Lumière Velvet

I wonder about this formula too if it will work for normal/dry skin... I doubt but I am still curious

That's extremely disappointing. Especially considering they discontinued my shade in Perfection Lumiere. It's souring me on Chanel right now and that's sad. You're telling me I can buy all the blushes and lipsticks in the world but you can't truly acknowledge my skin tone? Not acceptable.
Let the saints say AMEN

I just bought the foundation in B70. When I swatched it I felt like it could work. I'll try it on either tonight or tomorrow and report back. What I do know is that if you're even half a shade darker than me you are out of luck. I am so annoyed by that.

I sometimes think we are more concerned than the actual company when they do silly things like that lol!

I hope I don't like K & B too much lol- April is getting expensive.

Ok, we'll take our talents to the JC thread

where we can continue to proclaim our eternal love for them

Shontay, I've used your complexion as a guide for the foundations that I've purchased---you were spot on with
Guerlain's Fonce. I'm putting that on tomorrow and using the Terracotta Bronzer in 07. If Chanel's PLV B70 works
for you I'll probably be safe with it too. Looking forward to your assessment.

take Lancome for example - 31 shades of foundation
that's what I expect from high end brand if you want us to pay we have to have perfect match

agreed

but
and this but is just as important for me.. the texture of Chanel's foundations are superior in quality -- the slip, the coverage without being cakey all command extra $.. jmho

It seems to get that nice texture the high end foundations these days are all a mix of alcohol and pigment. My skin loves silicones but I guess there aren't enough to save me from the alcohol. Doesn't work for my rosacea.

I don't feel that chanel foundations texture wise are any better than some other high end ones - dior, lancome, guerlain... main thing is understanding your skin type and knowing what you want when it comes to coverage, finish etc... also it all depends on a base you use before foundation - skincare or actual primer, and another very important thing is application - picking the right brush has a great deal of how foundation will actually look on skin. I've tried some and thought they are awful until i started experimenting application with different brushes

I wore this foundation for roughly 3 hours tonight without powder on my normal/dry skin and here are my takeaways: Holy crap it makes my skin look good! I love the finish. It's truly velvety. Like, I kept touching my face because it looked so smooth. I am the darkest color, B70. It's a true match. It covers nothing! I was under the impression it was a medium coverage, granted I didn't look into that. I am fine with foundations not covering much and I don't care if my little blemishes show, but I can always add concealer. I did add concealer and then it was absolute perfection. The foundation evens out my skin, like other sheer foundations I have but the difference is the finish. My skin didn't feel dry or tight. I sometimes have to work hard to get a foundation to not cake up on my nose, but not this one. It's a bit runny, but not too much. It didn't slide off my hand while I worked on my face. The color gets a tiny bit darker. I noticed when I swatched it today that immediately putting it on my skin I couldn't see it, but after a minute or so I could see the difference from where I had it on. On my face, my jaw is darker than the center of my face (just like many WOC) and I thought it looked a little white on that area. After a minute, when it dried it blended in perfectly. What a relief. So, in conclusion I love this stuff from my short trial. Definitely recommend it if you don't mind sheer coverage or you're willing to add concealer. Dry skin, don't be afraid. Like, I said before if you're darker than me (MUFE HD 173, Mac I don't have a true shade but I am closest to NC45 which is too dark for the center of my face), unfortunately, there's no color for you. I just wish that since this is replacing my Perfection Lumiere that it gave me the same coverage as that one.

Tried a sample of this foundation yday I'm definitely buying it once it launches in uk! It gave my skin an amazing Matt (not flat) finish, the formula is extremely runny but I feel it's something that will never look too heavy and v easy to build up, i love the colour match with Chanel it's always spot on my skin color - I used b30. It also faded pretty evenly throughout the day, I hate it when foundation fades in patches, I will give it one more try today to confirm and hopefully buy next week

I am so grateful for this review. You had me at "Holy Crap"
There's nothing more disconcerting than having a product that works for you discontinued. As a result I'm always searching for replacements
before I even need them. I wear Perfection Lumiére in 54 Beige Ambre. I was matched for Double Perfection @ both 80 Beige & 60 Beige.
I chose 80 and I'm happy with it. I'm excited to have add yet another good performing, color compatible foundation to my arsenal. Thank you Shontay!

Wish I could get it sooner it comes out in the uk on the 11th even that seems a long wait will go to my counter tomorrow and attempt to get another sample, it is so light like vita lumiere aqua and I didn't find it needed much of a powdering only under eyes where I added concealer let me know how you get on

Well, I did it. I ordered PLV and I'm looking forward to trying it out. While ordering it I accidentally ordered another YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush
I am so, so smitten with them.

lol

I am not sure if I should stick with the same shade as the Vitalmiere Aqua.. which was a B12.. or B10.. I will order the same assuming it's the same pigmentation.

I am throwing all my CD, Lancome and misc. brands of HE fndn out before I leave on my trip. The CD oxidizes badly (hope the new 010 I ordered doesn't do the same but I think it's light enough even if it goes a tad darker). It's Elegan'ts fault i bought it anyway..ja
