MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection (May 22, 2014)

I just got back from my local Macy's MAC counter and whew...am I glad I got everything I wanted off of MAC's site and Nordies. I went to get a foundation for my friend, and it was a total fiasco. Girls cutting the line, people pushing and guys who took their ladies were just standing on the sidelines with their mouths open lol. Stalking is so worth it!

exactly.. I am not a WOC or anything special, but I already know my skin and how certain colours work on me.. and I STILL EFF it up sometimes.. it's also knowing how you like to look, your wardrobe, the whole package.

I know I cannot wear certain colours or I look like my avi.. or my aunt Leo who wore Fuschia blush until her 90's with bold red lipstick.

Seriously.. how do you blame a corporation for putting out products clearly made for a wide range of demographics.

Checked out the collection in stores and everything was still in stock at the macys plaza in north hollywood....only ended up with golden bronzer (purely for packaging), silver sun, goddess of the sea, and pet me please. I have to say, was super not impressed with the ED bronzers, AS looked like nothing on me and I'm an NC20! I had to build that sucker UP. Delphic was really orangey on me too :/ really wanted Fathoms deep and water deities but MUST BE STRONG and wait for the Osbornes!

Hopefully it works on me! I'm NC/NW 15-20. I really only want a hint of color, though, so if I get that then I'll be happy. I have darker bronzers for when I want more impact.

Just want to contribute my experience: I've not been impressed with a Mac collection for a loooong time now. I can probably count on one hand how many new Mac products I have purchased in the past two years. I knew this one was going to get me! My original plan was to get: GR bronzer, GoTS l/s, Clear Water l/g, Loreli and Silver Sun e/s, and the teal nail polish. I ultimately walked away with GR bronzer, SMHM blush, and Modern Lure l/g. While the eye shadows are all very pretty and the texture is wonderful, I have hundreds of eyeshadows and loose pigments across various brands and feel that I have some that are similar to these colors. If they should show up in the CCO down the road however, I will probably bite the bullet. One thing I didn't expect to do (and slightly off topic) was to get matched in a Pro Longwear liquid foundation, to match my recently acquired summer sun complexion. I normally wear NC44, but in this formulation and at this time I was matched to NW43, which completely took me off guard! The MUA applied the foundation, my new bronzer and blush colors and I must say it is an absolutely gorgeous look! I left the counter extremely pleased.

No because they buy just to try, post a big haul, and return. I have a new pet peeve.

The worst part is that the rest of us - those who hardly ever return a product - have to pay for the loss that MAC is making.

So my list started off with goddess of the sea, mystical, & possibly sea me hear me. It evolved to mystical & an edes (silver sun or fathoms deep). I ended up just getting siren song lol and OH MY IS IT LOVELY! Mystical was prettier in person, but that shade is ultimately just not me. While beautiful, the shadows were just to small for my liking (at that price). Roxo, you're up next!! Lol maybe with a lil mirror thrown in there

I'm so happy everyone's getting their goods! I’m going to check things out IRL at a pro store in a bit — but no buying. I already have Siren Song and Pet me, Please on their way to me but I'm eager to swatch 'em since my Macy's package won't arrive till next year.

I was thinking of B2M for Crosswires or Cosmo as an alternative to Mystical... Any other lipstick recommendations?

P.S. Is today pretty much the worst day to go to a pro store and ask to get color matched??

Thank you for sharing your experience! I will have to try that NW43. In the summer NC45 is wayyyy to red for me, and NC44 (which is what I normally wear in the cooler months) in the summer is slightly to light.

As in I like it and its pretty, but it isn't all it was cracked up to be.

It's totally unique. Even my husband who doesn't give a damn about makeup was impressed. He kept touching it. Maybe you have just been waiting SOOO long that it's been over hyped?
