Use the edge of a MAC metal spatula or a baby spoon. Ok, any spoon I suppose and it just takes a tiny bit of scraping to get that layer off. If you do not remove it you will get NO color payoff. Scrape it lightly like you are peeling the bad part off until it looks like normal powder. That portion got wet and is pretty much dead. Remember, no finger swatches on powder and use a clean dry brush always.

Not that noteicable, but it gives a little something something! I'll try the spoon trick, *fingers crossed!* p.s. When you say different effect, what do you mean?
AS is more creamy if that makes sense. It seems to meld with my skin where Golden is clearly a powder and on it. AS is a bit more smooth and seamless on my skin.

Damn. Now I want AS!!!!! I was supposed to buy two bronzers, one ED, one perm. At the store, Refined Golden seemed so shimmery, so I got Golden and am planning to get Delphic. But now I think I wanna return Golden, get AS and Refined Golden, but I probably won't coz this is my first MAC compact (senti value!) and I don't think we can return/exchange prods here in the Philippines.
Get AS over Delphic if you are lighter. Delphic would be best if you are darker than Nc/nw25. IMO. Also, RG is a lot more yellowish orange than Golden. Payoff might be better but it is orange on me.
So ditch RG coz it's too orange? Hm.. Makes sense, it looked orange on my mom.... I'll just stick with golden for a goof proof bronzer. But I am darker than 25 (sometimes, depends on the season) so I'll just probablt get Delphic coz getting AS when I have Golden is like getting two diff. formulas in the same color, and I'm pretty happy with golden, I'll just try the spoon trick. (I'm still too scared to damage the product to try it lol
Delphic is much darker. I think it would work if you are darker than 25. Do not be scared of ruining it. Just go gently like skimming cream off something or foam of a drink.

great I have the real techniques brushes almost all of them I was trying it with a different one..I do love AS it's very unique as far as my mU collection goes.Use a dense brush. I use the multi-task brush from Real Techniques. I do have to go back a couple of times though because it's a slightly stiffer formula, but I don't mind at all. Totally worth it.
I would use a q-tip to scrape off a thin layer then be careful in the future not to touch the brush to the surface of the powder after touching the face as it will pick up oil and make a new hard overlay. Refined Golden should not be too dark. I used a light hand and it works for me and I am NW15 Refined Golden swatches similar to Aphrodite shell on me. Hth

Yep, BSC helps. But it's really best to always use a clean brush - not matter what. A lot of the newer powder formulas are prone to develop this top coat layer. No finger swatches and clean brushes (and no double dipping) are the only way to avoid it.
might pick up AS too just in case.... But the compact totally makes up for the flaws lol

I am surprised how much I like it--I'm lighter than you (NC15) and it isn't too dark for me.Here is my review for the Bronzing Powder in Golden (pics and swatches to come tomorrow) It's a really pretty light medium warm peachy brown with red tones and golden shimmer. It's quite subtle on my NC25-30/C3 skin when I layer it but that's what makes it gorgeous, the subtlety, but within two days of wearing it I have made a slight dip in the pan because of just that, the sheerness, I have to use quite a lot. I layer it with the NARS Yachiyo brush all over my face and neck, adding more on my temples, cheek, chin and neck. It lasts about 4 hours before I have to retouch, which is quite a short wear time but then again here in the Philippines its about a 39-41 degree c weather. As I said in my last few posts, there is that hard stiff texture when swatched with fingers, using a brush yields ok coverage. Not a perfect bronzer, not bad, just good. Quite good actually, but the texture and the pigmentation...might pick up AS too just in case.... But the compact totally makes up for the flaws lol
