Ellis Faas

I didn't see a thread for this line, so I figured I'd start one. Who's tried this line? Thoughts on the colours? The pen packaging?

I've recently picked up the E303 Eye light (rich golden bronze) and L202 ("dark blood"). The formula on both is incredible. Lasts foreverand applies very evenly, but unfortunately, the applicator for the eye light came apart the third time I used it. I was, as you can imagine, quite disappointed. Sephora were very cool about letting me replace it. I'm a little nervous about buying more products, because I don't want to have to deal with the heartbreak of having another one malfunction, but I do love the colours so much...

I've not tried it. In fact, the first time I'd really heard of Ellis Faas was when Sam from Pixiwoo did a demo of some of the products. I think the concept is good, and the packaging is aesthetically pleasing, but at the same time, I'd like to have it in more conventional packaging (less chance of something going wrong with the applicatiors, not to mention more hygienic).

Yes, I learned the hard way about things that can go wrong.

I like the packaging for use, but I feel like for the eyes, I have to choose between being unhygienic and wasting product...

Actually, now that I think of it, you can get the foundation in conventional packaging, at least. http://camerareadycosmetics.com/products/ellis-faas-skin-veil-l-foundation.html Tell it you want the bottle; it's hella expensive, though -- nearly $65 USD! (Edit: It's also on Sephora for $90 USD/CAD. Meep!)

i just bought L104 (creamy lip colour)....LOVE!!!!
it's so awesome, I can't get over it. i kind of wanted to buy L105 as well, but even with the sephora vib sale i felt i was being excessive.
the L105 was a weird yellowy orangey brown when swatched, but on my lips it transformed to a kind of satin bronze/copper....should i wait, or should i just go back and get it now? decisions, decisions....
i love this formula, as it is super saturated, yet it gives the look of natural lips, not lipstick.

Ooh... Post a swatch if you have time! I haven't yet tried the creamy formulation. I do love the milky formula. I've had my eye on the darker brown glossy and another eye light (the "antique silver") as well. Despite the issues I had with my first purchase, I find myself unable to resist the allure of the brand. Also, there stuff is amazing for travel...

here ya go! L101 and L104 side by side.
i feel like there's a bit more blue than what's captured here....

i ended up not getting L105...saving it for post christmas or something. these lipcolours are hard hitters to the wallet! but i would say although i only have the two so far, they definitely garner the highest number of compliments!

i'd like to try their eye products or blushes too....
i think for hygiene it's possible to clean the brushes/sponges...i do recall seeing that someplace, perhaps the ellis faas website?

i didn't have any problems when i bought L101 directly from ellis faas, but when i opened the L104 yesterday, i had to click about 153 times before i saw any product! i was getting scared it was faulty! it's the type of product i feel wary about purchasing from a store like sephora (accessible to anyone and everyone to put their paws on/drop on the ground etc...) but i prefer it to paying for shipping!

So pretty! I was able to return my defective E303 to Sephora with no problems, so I feel confident buying from them. But I think my next order might go direct, since I'm most interested in some of the creamy eye colours that Sephora isn't carrying- the pastel green, blue and lilac that were released this year. These aren't normally colours I gravitate toward, but the swatches on the EF web site and on blogs make them look a bit greyed, which I think would make them work better for me. Of course, chances are I'll get possessed and buy more stuff at Sephora before I get around to an online order.

Interesting- I just noticed that the blushes and milky eyes products seem to have disappeared from the web site. I can understand that there isn't really much need for a "milky" shadow formula, since the creamy ones can be sheered out just as easily, but I do hope that they're not entirely getting rid of the blushes. Perhaps reformulating?

I have been In love with this line ever since I first discovered it. However I have yet to purchase. I really have to save my pennies.

They are absolutely worth the investment, IMHO. Pick one just to try that really appeals to you as a treat for yourself.

I've bought quite a few of these (as soon as I realized there was some place relatively close in Toronto where I could actually try everything!).

I LOVE the foundation, in both the bottle and for travel, the pen. Really like the concealer too and will probably repurchase that; ditto the blush. I liked one of the lip colours that goes on with a brush; one that comes with sponge applicator (I think it was the hot lips formulation) just never dried on my lips and was on my teeth every time I looked - and that was just plain weird.

Mixed feelings about the eye shadows. Love the colours and texture and consistency. HATE the pen format. It is always dried out, clogging, generally a pain in the butt to use and clean. And it dispenses too much product when it finally coughs it up. I've been told to rinse the brush in hot water to keep the product moving but even that doesn't help and, frankly, is a nuisance to have to do on each use. But ... I am still persevering because I like the shadows.

It would be great if the company would rethink the pen mechanism or at least find one that works consistently. That (and the price) are my only beefs.

Honestly, I would recommend emailing their customer service. They're very helpful and they might have received these questions before. My personal favourite item is the Eye Light in bronze. It looks like liquid metal on the eyes and lasts forever.

I have seen such good reviews for the Ellis Faas foundation but I am hesitant (considering the price) to pick one up without properly swatching it first. Where in Toronto where you able to test it out?

Thanks for you help!!

I recommend the foundation if you have normal/dry skin definitely! I got it recently and I loveeee it!!! It looks like skin. I will say the one downfall is the there isn't a whole lot of a shade range, at least from what I saw at SpaceNK.

The full line is available at The Private World of Mary Tripi at 890 Yonge just across from Canadian Tire. Bloor is the closest web site, but it's an easy walk from Rosedale station. Here is their web site:
