MAC Pencilled In Collection (Feb 5, 2015)

Because of the screwy schedule for MAC releases in the UK, I always spend the spring utterly broke (MAC is Beauty and the summer collection coming out at the same time is going to kill me). I'm trying to prioritise what I want out of this collection, just in case stuff doesn't turn out to be permanent here. So, my question is: why do people love Cranberry so much? Please understand that I'm not saying it's not pretty, but I want to know why people are so, so interested in it. I know I definitely want Heroine and Candy Yum Yum, plus Fruit Cocktail looks like it could be really useful, but I keep coming back to Cranberry.

Cranberry is a great color for something a little rosier than MLBB. It's not too cool toned or too bright either. You can wear it under just about anything. I'd say that it might turn a bit orange for really pale NW people, but if you're NC, it's a natural color with a little extra pizazz that will give definition without altering the color of your lipstick too much. It's not flashy or the sort of thing like CYY or Heroine where you're using it to make a crisp line for a strong lipstick color; it's just the sort of lip pencil you want when you need your lipstick to stay looking perfect all day while you drink and eat It's not announced when it'll be back yet, but maybe with the summer collection?

Went in and got to swatch Pencilled In. I was set to get Rosey Rim but it doesn't look like the kind of pink I like right now. Like a light yellow pink (on me at least) so I skipped it. I swatched Fruit Cocktail and it looks like a match for Betty Bright (again, just on me I know colors look different on different people). I ended up getting Boldly Bare (brought my Enchanted One, Alluring Aquatic and it's a perfect match) and Whirl.

Thank you, I'm NW13, but I have dark, warmish hair, eyes, and eyebrows, so I sometimes find NC stuff better. Having been a student for a very long time (just finished my PhD), I'm hoping to get a proper job this year, so this sounds like Cranberry could be useful. :)

I will have to say that if you love Cranberry, you will love Fruit Cocktail, which looks really orange in hand swatches, but turns into a more apricot version of Cranberry when applied on pigmented lips. I will definitely be using it under a lot of the same lipsticks I'd use Cranberry with, if I want a more glowing effect. Very glad it's perm, because it's going to make a lot of rosy lip colors that don't quite work for me become much more wearable. For sure take a look at it whenever you're at a MAC  store. Very thrilled there's a color like this in the perm range now, because it's not pastel and it's not too bright. Very useful for warming up any soft shade that's a little too cool and for making reds really POP, besides using it with corals to tone them down a little if they're too light, and of course to make any orange really glow! It looks great on its own too - this is going on my short list of favorite lip pencils.
I like your description of Fruit Cocktail!

Thanks!

Have you been using yours yet? I wore it today under Victoriana and that was a great combo!!
I haven't picked it up yet, but my others I have been using.
That one and Rosy Rim will be my next purchases. That sounds like a great combo btw.

Picked up Nightingale. I also picked up the Miley gloss and the SA recommended Talking Points or Candy Yum Yum to go with it. Boy is Candy Yum Yum bright, but so pretty. I may end up with this after all.

I really liked Talking Points & Candy Yum Yum but I agree Candy Yum Yum is very bright! I gotta work up my nerve to this, it is out of my comfort zone. LOL!

If Cranberry is not part of this collection, why is it still listed in the first post? I think that's what is confusing new readers to this thread.

I picked up Fruit Cocktail to pair with my Summer Saigon, which I found to be too sheer to wear on its own. I finally have my fave orange lip combo
