I ordered this morning at about 8 am (AZ time) and got all three lipsticks I wanted. All but the nude (Not a huge fan of lustres) and I haven't received shipping notice yet

Getting really anxious, still says processing. LJ was gone right after I checked out and went back to see what was still left

Because it's the more interesting colour I think. You can find almost exact dupes for RB and BK in MAC's permanent range and some similar oranges to FS, but they have nothing like LJ or DG in their permanent range, and it's not a colour that shows up in every third collection. Not the easiest colour to find from other companies either, most similar lipsticks from mainstream brands lean even pinker, and not everyone's into or aware of smaller brands/indie brands. I personally find colours like LJ/DG very easy to wear though. Out of the 4 that would by far be the easiest one for me to pull off.
Herd mentality. I forget what terms Gladwell uses in The Tipping Point, but he does a great job of explaining this phenomenon. It's so easy to fall into it.
Most of the sales are from resellers who have a sense of the items that are going to be 'hot' or 'most wanted'. The faster something sells out, the more eager people are to get that unattainable lipstick and that drives the product to a cult-like status in which you have to have it and if you have it, you're indeed very lucky. It's somewhat like the herd mentality to be honest.
I think that the color is interesting and calls attention therefore people gravitate towards it hoping that somehow it will work on them (myself included) this time around....in other words delusional/hopeful dreaming lol
Thanks for the responses ladies! I can certainly see where "herd mentality" can come Into play. Heck, I fell into myself! I liked LJ, but I wasn't necessarily stalking for it until I realized it's a now or never type situation. I will mostly likely wear it sparingly and have to mix with other colors to make it user friendly for my life. The uniqueness seems to draw a lot of people in. I guess it's safe to say if a color is really "different" consumers are going to jump all over it. Similar to Tom ford Lips & Boys collection and the color Stavros (a metallic lavender grey). Sold out in minutes and impossible to find shortly after the collection launched. I grabbed 2 and have worn it once around the house lol I just had no clue it would be the star of the 50 lipsticks he launched in that collection. Just interesting to see how and why it happens w certain colors.

My two black boxes from Cinderella unfortunately were delivered after I left for work at 2 today :( (Hubby is threatening to toss them! I threatened to *ahem* toss his cigars if he did)

I'm so hearing the siren sound of Summer Opal but after spending a fortune on Cinderella and getting both Coupe D Chic and Mystery Powder...not sure I have the moolah especially to get something sight unseen. So leaning toward swinging by the store to try out.

Both collections hit Mac on the same day right? So I'm hoping all eyes will be on Cinderella and I can sample Summer Opal.

I'm dying to get home and try the two Cindy powders....and if they are awful..then I think Summer Opal may snag me.

And I missed it...what was the Nordstrom fiasco I keep seeing referenced?

My friend tried and when she goes To pay for it the item is removed from her cart bc it's a US address. She called into MAC and they told her they won't ship from canada to a US address. It does let you add to the cart but you can't check out. :-/

I ended up ordering: Forbidden Sunrise Burmese Kiss Summer Opal Imperial Green I had considered Lavender Jade, but I didn't realize it had launched until after it sold out. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise because I was already on the fence about it.
I ordered the exact same. :) I wanted LJ too but it was sold out and after seeing it next to dodgy girl it looks similar enough that I don't need it. I'm hoping the nail polish isn't a dupe to anything I already have (I have way too much nail polish).

That's what happened to me! I was able to add it, but then each time I went to check out it removed it from the cart.

I'm a MAC NC15, and usually lavender-ish lippies are the most flattering on me. The purple undertones cancel out the yellow in my undertones and brighten up my face, and I look less sickly. Lol.

I have a gazillion MAC lipsticks, and the only truly flattering ones on me have been the LE "Blooming Lovely" and "Deliciously Rich" (and Lavender Jade and Dodgy Girl in theory since I wasn't able to get them).

That's why I'm especially bummed that I wasn't able to get Lavender Jade. Most lippies turn orange, brown, fuchsia, or are too dark on me.

I could very well be wrong but you were able to grab Forbidden Sunrise during the 'mystery release', right? How do you like it on you?
Yes I did!! Shade wise I feel it is really close to true orange without a lot of red in it ( unlike strange journey, barbecue etc) . Also the one that I got had a really hard texture, very dry and dragging (of course could be that it was supposed to be sample and not for sale). For the same reason I haven't actually used it a lot! Hth !

The Nordstrom launch mess involved LJ selling out before it even launched, launch times where people being told different things, and Macy's having a surprise out of nowhere launch that sold out insanely fast.

Have you tried NARS' Audacious lipstick in Dominique? I can imagine that would suit you well if cool purple lippies are flattering on you. It's more expensive than MAC but it would be a nice option when NARS has their Friends & Family sales with the 20% discountl

People kept posting the item links on here which contained the item numbers. Then, before the items officially launched on the website, people with iphones were able to to use a backdoor on the iphone app to order the items. Also anyone was able able to order items over the phone before it officially launched as well. That's in it a nutshell.

Yeah, apparently they won't ship to US address so that's why that happens. Sorry you haven't been able to get one. There is defintely still hope of grabbing one from Bloomies, In store or maybe a restock!! :). I really like purple based colors as well. Not necessarily as loud as LJ as an everyday color, but I love Heroine, for example of a Mac color.

This makes me happy! Hopefully this batch aren't dry and apply like the mattes we've been seeing recently.
