I find Runway Hit (and Steady Going) are not as harsh on my lips as some of the other RMs. You have to take into consideration that it's the pigments, made out of minerals, that add to dryness along with the dryness of the base formula. The darker RMs are much tougher on my lips. Nothing a day or two of Huggables can't fix, though!!!

Hmm, good point. I never thought about the pigments. The lightest RM I have is Riri Boy and that's by no means a light shade. Great that RH is perm - I can see it in person before I make up my mind.

re: Huggables - yes! I'm so glad they're coming back. And that's coming from a matte freak. They were an absolute godsend last winter when my lips were peeling like noone's business.Their moisturising qualities aside, I loved how good they make my lips look no matter how gross and chapped they actually were.

I'm crazy for MAC Retro Matte and Matte lipsticks. I want Whirl, Stone, Men Love Mystery and a few others. I am so excited about this collection! Hopefully, my wallet will have recovered somewhat by mid-June.

I don't actually mind that they're a bit drying because all's good once I get home and slather on some Jack Black or Bite Agave Lip Mask. What I don't like is how they look a few hours into wear. My lips start looking like all life's been sucked out of them. Reapplying doesn't help either because then the colour goes all patchy I dunno, maybe I'm doing something wrong :dunno: I love FOF on me.... for 2-3 hours. Then it all goes downhill. lol. Brick red FTW! :pompom: Such a shame that mattes don't work for you. Were you happy with Oxblood once you put on the Mineralize Lip Balm? I have no issues with MAC's regular matte formula whatsoever so I guess I'm lucky. I particularly like the new "creamy" mattes because I'm a lazy bastard and they're so much easier to apply than the old ones like Sin. I like satins too but if I want something satiny I usually opt for a NARS Audacious (you don't want to know just how overboard I went with those suckers :eek:hboy: ) Hmm, good point. Retro Mattes are like liquid lipsticks when it comes to touchups-ya can't just touchup. You have to remove (or even just blot really, really well to remove most of the product) and reapply. It's a pain, yes, but it's gonna prevent all the balling up and chipping and peeling. But you also have to touchup less often as you do with even mattes and other formulas.

Haha yes I learnt that the hard way with liquid lipsticks

. It never occurred to me that RMs would behave the same way. The next time I wear a RM and need a touch up I'll follow your advice. Thank you

Worst case scenario I'll just pop a matching gloss in my bag when I wear a RM and use that for touch ups. Might as well have a use for those glosses!

I am READY!!! MAC, you have heard our cries, whines, and snivels! Mattes are the way to go. It's even better that they are permanent-these launches put stress in my life I don't need. I'm finally getting Runway Hit, Whirl is a MUST, and maybe persistent and the navy blue later.

I have quite a few of the already permanent and repromote lipsticks which will save me a ton of money. My list so far is Whirl, Stone, Steady Going (I skipped it the first time), Persistence, Naturally Transformed, Tropic Tonic, Men Love Mystery and I'm going to have to try on Dangerous, D for Danger, Matte Royal and Antique Velvet. This is the most exciting collection ever (besides my fantasy of a RiRi rerelease of course!)
